Crooners from the past favourites

Got to be Sammy Davis Jr for me!

I loved his voice and his handsome face and he loved his fans!

He was in an episode of Charlie's Angels that was especially written for him!

Oh Johnny Mathis - wonderful. I love him singing A Certain Smile.

Andy Williams ‘touch me in the morning’

Pat Boon, smoke gets in your eyes. loved that. Not sure if classed as a crooner though.

Matt Monro was wonderful, but my all-time favourite is Johnny Mathis - voice like velvet. I saw him at The Talk Of The Town when I was 20, he had the audience in the palm of his hand. To hear him sing "Misty" ... gorgeous!

Michael Holliday - my dad liked him. Interesting life, sad ending.

The crooners are before my time but I still love them. I suppose I first heard them when my parents played their records.
My MiL had a canary called Bing because he was such a good singer!

Matt Monroe definitely- what a voice, what a loss, died too young.

Sinatra , saw him at Festival Hall in the 60’s, still Sinatra

I never took any notice of these singers in my teens. It's only as I got older that I began to appreciate them.

I loved Frank Sinatra. Also Matt Munro - Softly as I Leave You There, Portrait of My Love etc. I also loved Tony Bennett, who we were lucky enough to see live twice at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

I tend to think of them as a little before my time, if you mean the likes of Bing Crosby etc but I used to melt at The Bachelors- do they count?

I'm a bit young for the crooners but I did love Catch a falling Star when I was little. Matt Monroe I think

Perry Como was a lovely singer too.

My Dad had a lovely singing voice and sang Matt Monroe and Perry Como songs around the house.

I love Perry Como ‘and I love her so’ dedicated to my grandaughter after much heartbreak following an estrangement where I was banned from seeing my first grandchild. She was like a gift

He is my favourite too. For our first Christmas together, DH bought me Perry Como's Greatest Hits.

My personal favourite is Frank Sinatra but I have a very soft spot for Bing Crosby who was my Dad's favourite. I also love Andy Williams (especially singing Moon River) but not sure if he qualifies as a crooner.
