Happened to me when heavily pregnant and with a toddler in the car. Car was making an odd noise so l was slowing down when l saw the wheel fly over a hedge.
When l rang the company they were nonchalant about it, "it happens" they said
Husband rather less nonchalant and I wasn't there when husband went in to have a word. They collected the car pretty damned fast, replaced wheel, valeted it and returned with a bouquet of flowers.
There are "what ifs?" but, apart from inconvenience, l was fine.

My DD and family set off for a weekend in London, but only got as far as Oxford as their car (which had been for a service and slow puncture repair art the end of last week) started to make strange noises and rattle. They left the car with a friend in Oxford and went on by train.

They came back yesterday, having met the AA man in Oxford. To cut a long story short, the garage had failed to tighten the bolts on the wheel - one bolt had already fallen off and the others were all loose.

This error could have caused carnage. I am so angry about it. They are going to the garage - a main dealer - today to "have words" about it.
