Prince Harry will not meet the King during UK visit.

Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.

From the Telegraph just now:

“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.

Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.

But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.

I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …

What do you think?

William was rude and nasty about Megan even tried to talk Harry out of marrying her. Knocked his brother over when he defended her, so a violent person. Charles ruined Diana's life, didn't love her and married for breeding. Harry is an ex veteran with mental health problems so I think it's a disgusting way to treat him. Charles didn't want to even see him or offer him a room in any of the Royal buildings so he had to stay in a hotel. Rotten family afraid of the public finding out how awful they really are.

Oh dear Sazzi been reading the book have you? wink

Thank you to all the posters who so kindly commented on my (rather long) explanation of how estrangement and certain behaviours can affect family dynamics. I really appreciate your comments.
We have no idea how Charles and William feel since the onslaught by Harry and Meghan, but my guess would be exceptionally hurt, going on how I felt for years because of my sister’s behaviour.
We cannot really advise them. They have to find their own way through this, and if that includes keeping a distance from Harry, then I respect their choice.

For the first time ever, I’m feeling a bit sorry for them!

They have so little loving family in their lives (each other, two children and her mother) and yes I know that’s their choice after all the misery they felt couldn’t be endured any longer in UK.

I don’t begrudge them brief moments of being treated like royalty whenever they turn up to the odd event or trip abroad- it obviously means a lot to them or they wouldn’t do it.

They seem to want a part time, pick and choose celebrity life which really isn’t suited to our daily dutiful (and sometimes dull) monarchy.

In famous footballing terms, can they do it on a wet and wintry Wednesday night in Stoke… nope, they’re more Messi than Ronaldo!

So don't we count the Spencers as "family"? Or Eugenie and Beatrice who have both visited M&H in the US?
Or is it simply this projection onto two people who have made a very quiet life for their children, that they are the ones who are flawed and not the RF.
Isn't it Invictus that means a lot to Harry and brings him back into the public eye because he thinks it worthwhile?

If all the Windsors behaved like Harry we could not have a monarchy. The monarchy is a career choice , a firm, and it demands reasonable loyalty. King Charles apart from being a nice bloke has a strong sense of duty.

There can only be speculation about this. We don’t know the real story, nor should we necessarily expect to! This is after all their private family business and does in no way impact on the King’s constitutional duties, nor indeed his charitable ones. Personally, I would not trust Prince Harry as far as I could throw him TBH and the ‘revelations’ of Harry’s PR team are surely intended to present a loving son, cruelly spurned. After Harry’s treatment of his family I’m not surprised that they are somewhat wary of him. Who knows what new ‘revelations’ resulting from any such meetings will appear in the next interview or ‘eagerly awaited’ blockbuster!?

No comparison between highly populated Nigeria and the Scillies.

Media are comparing William in Cornwall with Harry in
Nigeria , several saying how Harry is more popular!

It matters not if he's popular in Nigeria.

He's not going to be King.
There would have to be a referendum on the Monarchy first. Or a revolution.

Anywhere, whenever - but never without witnesses and video/sound. They lie.

Grantanow Sat 11-May-24 11:13:06

Perhaps they could become K and Q of Nigeria and stay there.

I think its Meghan's fault.
I haven't worked out how, yet, but I will.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Then I love this photo of William drooling over pasties in Cornwall yesterday!

I read that he bought pasties for his entourage.

fancythat Sat 11-May-24 11:01:03

By that, I partly mean, I am not sure what she can help or control. So I dont know what would be classed as her fault.

fancythat Sat 11-May-24 10:59:23

maddyone I know someone who sounds a bit like your sister. To such an extent I did take notice of the Aunty G bit[the person I know is not G].

The person I know, seems to me to be part narcisstic, if there can be such a thing. She had 6 or 8 traits of it, out of 10, when I did a bit of a goo gle.

I am fortunate in that I only need to spend limited time with her[volunteer type setting].

Sadly, I look upon her as being ill.
Personally, I stay out of her way as much as I am able, be nice to her, and dont bother with the forgiveness part any more, as I dont think she is a well person.

nadateturbe Sat 11-May-24 10:54:56

I have read your sad post Maddyone. This is a short answer as I'm just heading out, but I didn't want to ignore. You have clearly forgiven your sister and are just protecting your own health. I don't think you could do any more. You have tried so hard, more than many of us could. 💐

Anniebach Sat 11-May-24 10:37:45

maddy you have tried to understand your sister’s behaviour,
I see this as forgiveness, you cannot keep opening yourself to
more hurt, if the hurt was physical attacks you couldn’t so no
different

nanna8 Sat 11-May-24 10:30:52

Thank you maddyone for trusting us with that information. Mental illness has touched many of us ( me included) and to know that there are others out there with similar issues is ,not good, but stops you feeling you are the only one. With us it is one of our son in laws. He is so cruel and has cut my daughter off from her sisters . I try not to hate him because I know he is not normal but it is hard.

maddyone Sat 11-May-24 10:29:22

I’m sorry that was so long, but as you see, these things are difficult and painful. It’s the first time I’ve written it down in such a long version, and yet it barely touches the surface.

So I think it’s probably equally difficult for Harry’s family, especially as it’s all played out in public. And for Meghan’s family too, also in the public eye. It’s hard to talk about these things and I know how hurt as I was when my sister told lies about me. I can’t say they should forgive and I can’t say they shouldn’t. They have to do what they feel is best for them.

maddyone Sat 11-May-24 10:20:44

nadateturbe thank you for asking. It’s a difficult and complex situation and therefore it’s difficult to answer in a straight forward way. My sister has mental health issues but apart from depression I’m unsure of the complete diagnosis, but I know she was treated by at the mental health department at the hospital for a protracted time some years ago. Her son, a doctor, thinks she may have one or more Personality Disorders, and he has suggested Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and I’ve wondered about Borderline Personality Disorder, but to be honest, it could be something else, she has never told us. Suffice it to say, she has caused great pain to her family for some forty years. She estranged all of us for some seven years many years ago. None of us knew why, but she hurt our mother so very badly, also her daughter and of course myself. To be honest, she was always ‘different’ and quite cruel even as a child. I’ve wondered if she has ADHD but I’m not a doctor. She’s very complex and can be very cruel. There’s too much to write it all down to be honest. She came back to the family after treatment at the hospital. I was wary at first because I’d been so hurt. I’d had to explain to my eight year old child after she estranged us all because my child asked ‘doesn’t Auntie G……love us anymore?’ Anyway I gradually warmed towards her because of course you never stop loving the person, you just don’t like the behaviour. I supported her a lot when her husband sadly died, but after that she gradually became more cruel again. She was especially cruel to our elderly mother, often refusing to speak to her for several weeks at a time, and saying unbelievably cruel things to her. She also started being unpleasant to me again and she estranged her daughter and grandchildren, and eventually estranged one of her sons too. She has little to do with another son as well. She tells horrible lies about us all, including me, in particular after our mother died. She said I stole things and wouldn’t share the estate properly. She was nasty on the phone to me and even told the solicitor (he understood her pretty quickly) lies about me. I had held out the olive branch to her when mum was dying and she accepted it and stayed with me but as soon as she returned home there were further vile accusations. The same with her daughter who had brought her because there was a train strike. In the end my husband said to me I could have a relationship with her and accept she would upset me often, or I could think I don’t need this trauma in my life because she’ll never change and it’s too hurtful to me. I chose the latter and no longer communicate with her. I still care for her, she’s my only sibling but I accept the impossibility of having a relationship with her that is healthy and mutually beneficial.

I’m sorry it’s so long, and it’s very much a potted version. So I can’t say that forgiving would be helpful as I’ve already forgiven several times. Likewise her daughter who I love and have a lovely relationship with. My mother always forgave her and yet only a few weeks before mum’s death, she stopped speaking to her for three weeks. I felt so hurt on mum’s behalf at that. It was because my daughter visited from New Zealand and mum was so happy as she thought she’d never see my daughter again. It was indeed the last time she saw my daughter.

Gosh no Iam they are so sad. I was speaking of Harry's lies

The Bible does say about forgiving 77 times or something.

If a person says sorry, [and means it]forgive.
If a person then does wrong again, and says sorry and means it, forgive again, etc.

Could this be the 78th time then?

Aveline Sat 11-May-24 10:10:13

I loved the BBC report on William's trip to the Scillies. He seemed so happy and relaxed and very friendly. He came over so well and did the Scillies a big favour. Looks gorgeous there.
