Prince Harry will not meet the King during UK visit.

Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.

From the Telegraph just now:

“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.

Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.

But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.

I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …

What do you think?

The poor Nigerians are having to pay for the H and M pr stunt in Nigeria. She wants to be crowned queen of west africa. She put caucasian down on all her past job applications and now she is suddenly 43% ? nigerian. Yes, right. More self-serving. Nothing to do with invictus, not really

So aren't the next Invictus games in Nigeria?
That seems to be the one thing you forgot to mention.

The picture I was referring to is he one posted earlier on this thread of the green coat with the ochre hat.
It's nothing to do with purple or red really. Just a hat that doesn't go.
Sorry for presenting my musings. I should know they are always controversial.
The hat in the last picture looks good. And any colours can be put together. Oh and it isn't really to do with age now is it. It's about age in the future.

Glorianny the hat is red, no mention of a coat

No but purple is mentioned
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me
I always imagine a purple coat.

At 42 Akshata Murty is hardly “old” and I can’t see any connection with the red hat or wearing purple poem confused (Seen arriving at St Pauls in green BTW*
Unless you are thinking of this pic of Meghan? The coat is red, though

One does need tabloids, they give interviews

H and M are in Nigeria now, they met up in London and flew off together. Horrible self-serving couple

Have you met them? Or are you just believing everything the tabloids say?

I’m not defending his behaviour either Dickens but I doubt GN would have 12 pages on The Invictus Games, so the fire is fed from flaming on here.

Dickens Harry announced his father was too busy to see him,
hence the media went with this, we don’t know if there were questions about visiting his father. He has brought much on himself because he talks much about himself

As far as the RF is concerned wasn't Harry there as founder and patron of Invictus and not as a member of RF.
Apparently Birmingham want to have Invictus in 2027 wouldn't it have been nice to see a concerted effort of the RF and government to throw their support behind this?

Mrs Sunak somehow reminds me of that poem about wearing a purple coat and a red hat that doesn't go.

Where media attention should be, on the Invictus Games

I agree.

What though is preventing the media from headlining an article on them?

I believe Nigeria is the first African nation to participate - that's newsworthy. They, the media, could write a lot about the games and the participants - and the events. They could also, quite legitimately, mention Harry as Patron, simply as a fact - without any accompanying photo's of him.

So - why don't they? Why, instead, are there endless column inches chanelling the thoughts from 'palace insiders', Paul Burrell, royal-watchers and 'experts' - all focused on Harry - who then is slated for making it all about him?

I'm not defending the man's past behaviour - but who is making it 'all-about-Harry' if not the media itself?

He (Harry) issues a statement about not seeing his father - or his press do on his behalf - in answer to the numerous enquiries made on the matter to his press agent. Who is making these enquiries? Did you 'phone up to ask? Has GN been calling for an update? Or is it the media who have been demanding information?

... dramatic gossipy headlines about Harry make better copy than informative articles about the Invictus Games, that's the reality.

The parable doesn't fit in this instance Norah but it appears for some, to be a convenient stick to beat Charles.

The fact that the returning son accepts what he has done is wrong, asks for his father's forgiveness and has no expectations of being received as his son, but is willing to return to his father's home as a servant appears to be conveniently overlooked when comparing H to the prodigal.

Scotty's Little Soldiers is a fantastic charity - nice to see them getting some publicity.

Prince Harry is a Global Ambassador of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.

Yesterday (9th May 24), The Duke of Sussex, who served in the Army for 10 years, attended a heartwarming event in London that brought together 50 children and young people who have experienced the death of a military parent for an unforgettable afternoon.

Good work Harry

Urmstongran Fri 10-May-24 09:21:29

Yes it’s in the Daily Mail too LLFL with some wonderful photos of Harry with the children. You’re letting your bias slip!
🤣

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 10-May-24 09:00:40

Lovely article on the BBC website this morning about H’s visit to a charity devoted to the care of bereaved military children. Nothing on the Daily Fail of course. Just saying.

Those just need a frilly or waterfall blouse/shirt or maybe a cravat - and we are back to the very early 1980s and the New Romantics Joseann!
