Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.
From the Telegraph just now:
“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.
Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.
But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.
“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.
I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …
What do you think?
What do you think?
I think the King is astute enough to know that a "full diary" does not prevent him from seeing Harry - however briefly - and that the 'message' he is sending to the public is that he does not want to see him. And that it will be seen as a snub.
Whether there has been any communication between the two privately, we don't know.
I think Harry has been a fool to air his grievances so publicly, that he is emotionally immature, lacks self-awareness and humility. I also believe his background and upbringing has contributed to it.
I also think that blaming Meghan for his sins (as some do) is wrong. He's an adult and made his own choices in life, as we all do, for better or worse. And he still has those choices. But, it was ever thus that women often get the blame for men's behaviour which absolves them of the responsibility of their own actions which, it seems, women somehow have to 'manage'.
As has been mentioned, Charles was not uncritical of his own upbringing, and this gets to the heart of the matter. For however much the RF portray themselves as living the 'normal' family life as the rest of us, they don't. Their great privileges also demand huge personal sacrifices in the sense that they cannot, like the rest of us, do what they want or have the same freedoms, nor the privacy. Their public duties may not seem arduous to those of us struggling to get by on a daily basis, but they are basically a strait-jacket; their lives are 'ordained' by their heritage.
It's all rather sad, not that I spend too much time thinking about the matter. But families around the globe estrange each other, too, it seems to be par for the course of human nature. I would like to see a reconciliation between these two, father and son, but that's probably because I'm old and a bit sad about 'life'... we think we have time on our side and then, in the blink of an eye, it's gone...
