Planning on starting my new book club read this afternoon - The God of Small Things, by Arundhati Roy

I read that book years ago BlueSapphire and loved it.

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 16°C.

We had the mother of all thunderstorms last night with a deluge. It had got quite hot and sultry. Today it feels much fresher, thankfully.

We are going to look at yet another chair this morning. It seems to be what we’ve looking for, now need to see if it’s comfortable. It has been an “interesting” experience, and very useful. These chairs are not cheap and we don’t want to make an expensive mistake. It really gets my goat when I tell salespeople what I want and they then tell me what I (in their opinion) need. I may be a wobbly old lady now, but I’ve lived with my impairments for years, I’m an expert at it by now . I know what works for me and what doesn’t.

The threatened thunderstorm never materialised yesterday despite an impressive build up of the right sort of clouds and today is just grey and windy and not particularly warm. Like so many I am planning the garden for summer but trying to only use plants which don’t need too much attention once they are in so discussion needed with the gardener when he comes at lunch time.

Glad all the complicated plans for yesterday worked out and hope today is satisfactory too, especially Corner trying to sort out suppliers and anyone else dealing with increasingly tiresome authorities of whatever kind.

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
DD from the south here and we had a nice day yesterday, lunch in town and a little shopping towards her holiday in Crete with her childhood friends. She leaves tomorrow.

Later I visited my musician friend in hospital ( in the middle of a massive thunderstorm) who has suffered a heart attack but was in very good form and never stopped talking. I took him some little gifts and a hand painted card.
He is being transferred to the cardiac unit in the nearest city so I await his news on what treatment he will have. He will be missed at the music club.

My DS arrives tonight and DD said she will cook.

Yesterday was busy , plants to be potted up , pots to be planted up ,! Deadheading …..
Armagh was beaten by Donegal after extra time and penalty shoot out , middle son is gutted !
Grocery shopping today , then I’ll look out the patio cushions, I had put it off last week making do with cushions from indoors , but it’s a faff taking them out and in
No thunder or rain here yet , be nice if it held off for a little while
Marydoll our first Communion is next Sunday , 15 children , the regular attenders have been asked , in the most polite way , to leave room for the families ! So that’s me back to on line Mass

Good morning from Derbyshire where it is sunny again.
Went to a reservoir yesterday, there were lots of geese and ducks and other birds to see from a hide. It was very peaceful but tiring in the heat.
Went to French restaurant for dinner and had a little walk after as it was cooler. Sky started to look threatening and we made our way back to the cottage, we made it before the heavy rain started. There was lightning and a few rumbles ot thunder but not as bad as expected.
Today we think we may visit Bakewell.

Good morning Mick and everyone from overcast Carlisle where the sun keeps trying to break through.

Yesterday was pleasant weatherwise until late afternoon when the skies darkened and we had a brief thunderstorm followed by hours of heavy rain. I wasn't displeased as it will save me watering my new plantings, something I had begun to do earlier in the day.

Today I will finish off the laundry, the bulk of which was done yesterday, then I have various little tidying jobs before just pleasing myself!
I had a welcome visitor in the garden earlier on, a handsome goldfinch, the first one I've spotted here. It's a bit of a bird desert roundabouts really. He didn't stay long and I'm hoping to see him back.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset

Quiet one yesterday, drifted about in the morning and pottered at home in the afternoon. The forecast deluge from a storm was one clap of thunder and half a dozen rain spots, a disappointed Mr C was on pot watering detail. This morning it’s admin after tackling our energy supplier, I’m not anticipating it will be either easy or fun but needs doing. Best to get it over. May get to a garden centre this afternoon. There could be rain, who knows.

Good morning all and it’s bright here in Essex, at the moment.
Yesterday was so warm !

I took little DGD for her swimming lesson and was amazed at how much she’d improved. Back here for lunch and then we watched a film as she was tired (she has such a busy life). Took her back to her mum who’d been poorly .

Today I have my Chimes group and then I’m meeting up with a friend for lunch. We’ll arrange a day out with the local coach company for September . Our booked trip has been cancelled.
You would think last weeks episode would put me off , but I do like a coach trip.

The children look lovely in their finery Mary - especially the boys in their kilts. I remember the excitement of the day with my own children - very emotional. 🙏.

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk with no rain forecast for several days and then very little.

I’m always amazed at how the muddy footpaths feel and look like concrete after a few hot days.

I have an all day meeting on Wednesday so need to spend several hours reading in preparation. I’ll have to make a reluctant start on it today as all the paperwork is online and I need to be indoors. I know if I leave it til the evening I’ll be too tired to concentrate!

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy but set to be fair.
I have had a lovely weekend in Northumberland. We went to St Cuthbert’s cave, walked to Craster and Dunstanburgh castle and stopped off at Cragside on the way home. The weather was beautiful.
Back to laundry and shopping this morning. Hairdresser this afternoon.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, what a change from the last two days.

Glad I cut the back grass yesterday, but it was hard work, being so long, and also hot.
Had a lovely Indian meal out in the village with family to celebrate my birthday (which was last month while I was away). Had some lovely presents and cards.

Yoga this morning, then getting the bus halfway to town for my Covid jab. And as the rugby stadium is only 2 minutes up the road from the pharmacy, will go and get my ticket for our semi-final match.

Early dinner then I have an invite to a neighbour's for drinks and to update them on my cruise.

DH seems to be almost better now and is threatening to do the weeds on the patio. I have suggested, quite strongly, that he doesn't!

Yesterday was another busy day at Church. I foolishly thought all I had to do was clear the pew ends of flowers.
Our children leave at the beginning of Mass and attend the Children's Liturgy, then come back later. There were so many First Communicants there in their finery, that I realised that there weren't enough adults to supervise.
Of course, I had to go and offer my support, as Parish Safeguarding Officer. Always the teacher, but I stood back and tried not to interfere! However, I had to resist the desire to offer my tuppence worth! 🤣

The sun was shining, so we held it outside at our grotto.
Much of it was spent holding up overlong Communion dresses to keep them off the wet grass. I felt like a bridesmaid. 😉
Here is a photo of the twenty five out of the fifty five children, who were at morning Mass. As you can see, no faces are shown.
Later, at the end of Mass, the P.P. brought the children out to sing the Hymn of Thanksgiving to the congregation, which ended with a round of applause and emotional tears from some parents.
MY DIL was overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of parishioners, (some of whom are only acquaintances) towards wee Dollie. I looked at the children and realised that she was the smallest child present! 😍

We are off on holiday to Bonnybanko's vicinity. I have no idea what to take, due to the changing weather!
We are taking one car, instead of going separately, parking is a nightmare, so I have been warned by DD not to overpack. My medication alone needs its own suitcase! 🤣

Had a lovely Mother’s Day surprise yesterday, my four children had organised a week in Italy for me in July. Also had beautiful roses from my son.

With the boys as usual today then home to watch the tennis later on.

Good morning from south Glos where it’s looking like it could rain any minute.
Yesterday I had a busy morning baking and gardening, until it got too warm for me, very pleased with my efforts.
Today I will see what comes, nothing planned except taking the dog out and probably some pootling around outside. I seem to have lots of plants that need planting out but little space! I need to do my pots too.
