I've got one in the cupboard that I made at least 5 years ago. They get better and better with age. Have eaten some in the past that have been over 8 years old with no ill effects

Of course! My daughter and I ate one last Xmas made for the previous Xmas. Poured some port on it and had it with cream. Lush.

Sometimes after Christmas I buy puds at a reduced price - and keep them for ages. (I enjoy Christmas pud more when it's eaten at another time of year - when there's less rich or "special food" around.) Have done this with home-made Christnas puds, too.

It wouldn't even occur to me to throw it away, I don't usually even check the date. We've had puddings that were three years old, though we usually steam them rather than microwave as they can dry out a little.

Will taste delicious well matured. I assume theres booze in it with that and the fruit and sugar be moist and sticky. Some nice vanilla custard 😋

We have been known to do that too!

I do admit there are some gathering dust in our house, but we open, sniff, and as long as they smell fine and are fur free, 60 seconds in microwave and instant or tinned custard, or canned whippy cream (proper fancy here!!) pud for that day!

1 good recipe split between 2 or 3 tins depending on which tins used. Last one we opened was Christmas, slapped on some roll on marzipan/icing, very nice!
