Blouses that disappoint

Start looking at higher quality labels. You will find lovely blouses to your liking. That kind of short-cutting is a manufacturer’s way of cutting costs. Cheap clothing.

You may pay more for a better label but you only need to buy one or two blouses from year to year to keep your wardrobe going.

What I dislike about so many blouses these days, even in M&S, is the need to cut them so low at the front they expose more flesh than I'm happy to show, why is that.

I love shirts and blouses. Damart have some, and Bon Marche too. I wait for the sales in department stores for good quality ones.

I have never seen a blouse with a T shirt back, where were these?

White Stuff used to make shirts with T shirt backs so I know what OP means. I have such a shirt. Great front and sleeves, but the back creases badly due to the type of fabric. The rest of the shirt would pass muster without needing to be ironed, not so the back.

I only buy long sleeve Wallis blouses, I know my size and they look so classy, I have had numerous people saying how smart I look, I wear them with wider leg (not very wide but not straight) flowing trousers, sometimes with a 2 ins heel shoe or a low wedge espadrille sandal. In fact I have just ordered three more blouses in their sale, pink, ivory and navy. They never crease.

I've never come across these.
If anyone has examples I'd like to take a look.

I have a couple of short sleeved tops, pretty fronts and stretchy backs, love them.

Primani can sometimes have some lovely blouses, well I think so 😂
These two are both made from re- cycled material.

What exactly do you expect of a 'blouse'? When I search for that term, I'm offered shirts and tunics - not many that you could tuck into a waistband or comfortably wear under a smart jacket. However, when I searched in Amazon, I found a huge selection in many colours and patterns. Needless to say, they mostly originated in China, but you could say the same about the products of many big label retailers. Why not have a look there and see if there's something that you (or I) could call a 'blouse'.

Despite being comfortably off, neither I nor my two adult daughters have ever spent much on clothing. I couldn't justify the prices in Sea Salt, John Lewis or similar, though I did get a wedding outfit from JL in the sale for eldest DD's wedding. For youngest DD's wedding my beautiful dress cost about £20 from a garden centre closing down sale. I take it on cruise holidays now. That said, I am small in height and dumpy, with the largest boobs of anyone that I know, so I never look as I would like and have got used to it.

My life doesn't often need me to look special or even smart, just neat and tidy most of the time. Hubby is the same.

After I had my first DD and lost some of the 4 stones of extra weight I treated myself to a "designer" dress that cost more than I have ever spent and was totally unlike anything I had ever had previously. DH said "did Pat give you that?" Pat was my best friend who was twice my size. I took the dress back and never bought anything like it again.

Blouse front and stretchy back sounds good to me. Can’t say I’ve ever seen any though. Might try making one.
I think they might solve the problem of gaping button opening for us well endowed ladies.

Marks and Spencer, eBay, Amazon, liberty, sea salt, white stuff, Joe browns all have lovely lovely blouses.

Most blouses don't fit me right because I have a very broad chest. Almost all of them gap at my chest and nearly split in half when I move my arms! I end up buying lots of boxy types of tops because I feel far more comfortable in them.

I’ve bought tops from supermarkets like that OP. Really nice at the front and tee shirt back. I know they wouldn’t do this at Sea Salt et al , but I can’t afford to spend £40-£50 on a blouse. Having said that, I have found some lovely tops at Tu. I like Next tops, but I’ve found that many don’t wash well. I am struggling more than usual to find good quality and good value clothes. M and S - I find they do some lovely clothes for younger people now, otherwise I find their blouses too old fashioned and fussy.

I haven’t worn a blouse for at least 25 years. I don’t think I possess anything with buttons down the front. Oh, one dress I think.

For goodness sake where the dickens are you looking for blouses? M&S, John Lewis, M&Co. East, Sahara etc. do beautiful blouses.

Roman have lovely blouses and not a t shirt back in sight!

Boden, The White Company, Hobbs and even Marks & Spencer’s have beautiful shirts/blouses at the moment.

I do know the kind of blouse you mean but I haven’t seen any recently.
About 5 or 6 years ago I had a couple of tops like these. They were short sleeves, cotton fabric at the front and t shirt fabric at the back. These were from a Laura Ashley store.
