Do you like the new portrait of the princess of Wales?

On the front of Tatler today?
I don’t!
It’s flat, looks nothing like her and look amateurish. I've seen better portraits in my local church hall fetes. Yes, I understand that good drawing is considered naff, but that portrait is simply clumsy.

Ms Uzor the artist, who was chosen to paint the Princess of Wales, had just three weeks to complete the commission for Tatler. It wasn’t a commission by the RF.

She told the magazine that she was “unfazed”, adding: “Once I start painting, it will only take me two or three days.”

Oh dear. It shows in my opinion.

What do you think?

The portrait is not like press pictures posted of Catherine.

It is appalling, and very insulting to the beautiful Princess of Wales. Miss Uzor should be taken to the Tower! Let’s hope it’s given Catherine a good laugh.

There’s little point comparing her with King Charles and his treatment. Individuals differ, treatment differs

Correct Ziplok
There are many forms of chemotherapy as there are many forms of cancer. Some need only tablets which cause little in the way of side effects. Some, like my daughter, need aggressive treatment from which it takes a very long time to recover. She is only just beginning a very gentle phased return to work.

Teacher to year 7 pupils - "today children, you are going to copy a portrait of the Princess of Wales." This is the result.

I imagine that Catherine has had to have quite intensive chemo, spaced out over the last few months (This is what my BiL is having). She will, no doubt, be suffering side effects, possibly hair loss (though not necessarily), tiredness and her immune system will be compromised. She can’t, therefore, be expected to resume royal duties until her treatment is concluded and her health improved. There’s little point comparing her with King Charles and his treatment. Individuals differ, treatment differs.

Everyone has an off day I suppose!

This is on show at Osborne House. It's an amazing portrait but it is of someone who is dead and there are only a few images of.

Looks like Cruella de Vil

Shame her off day is so public. It wouldn’t boost her sales, if that’s the best she can do.

I am still undecided about the very RED portrait of the king. However it does show his character and spirit. This looks to me like the kind of thing I would expect to see on the cover of a Mills and Boon or Barbara Cartland novel about a generic "princess". Just a figurine with a sash and tiara. It says nothing about the personality of the individual.

and a ring!

As the Princess of Wales has still not returned to public duties, presumably because she's not fit enough, would it be kind to refrain from all this spurious gossip and stick to comments about the amateurish painting?

Actually, having gone to an art group for years, I know plenty of amateurs who would have made a far better job of this than Ms Uzor.

I presume she got paid for it 😂

Do we know for sure that William was having an affair?
I do hope not, Anniebach

No, it was a story made up by Giles Coren.

Well that's what Coren claimed.

Think what was said when it was announced she had surgery and would not return to public duties until after Easter.

She was too thin. Her husband was having an affair. She was having plastic surgery. We have a right to know what surgery.

Sparklefizz Thu 23-May-24 10:18:51

She may have lost her beautiful hair due to having chemo and just not feel able to face the public and be photographed from every angle.

henetha Thu 23-May-24 10:16:35

I thought that too, GSM.

henetha Thu 23-May-24 10:15:16

Thanks *Sparklefizz". I'm a bit out of touch. I do hope it won't be long before she's properly well.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 23-May-24 10:15:07

The doctors say she isn’t ready to return to work yet. I do find that a little worrying given that the King has resumed public duties.

Sparklefizz Thu 23-May-24 10:12:35

Do we know why she hasn't gone back to work yet? Is she ok?

She will apparently return to work when her doctors say she's well enough. Nothing else has been said.

henetha Thu 23-May-24 10:09:03

It doesn't do her justice at all. She's beautiful but you would never know it from this portrait.
By the way, I've been out of the country for a while. Do we know why she hasn't gone back to work yet? Is she ok?

JackyB Thu 23-May-24 09:57:06

I agree with the "Waxwork" comments. Apart from not looking like her, it doesn't capture any of her personality or charisma.
