Do you like the new portrait of the princess of Wales?

On the front of Tatler today?
I don’t!
It’s flat, looks nothing like her and look amateurish. I've seen better portraits in my local church hall fetes. Yes, I understand that good drawing is considered naff, but that portrait is simply clumsy.

Ms Uzor the artist, who was chosen to paint the Princess of Wales, had just three weeks to complete the commission for Tatler. It wasn’t a commission by the RF.

She told the magazine that she was “unfazed”, adding: “Once I start painting, it will only take me two or three days.”

Oh dear. It shows in my opinion.

What do you think?

Doesn't sound rude to me. Just a simple instruction.

HelterSkelter1 Wed 29-May-24 08:07:38

"Read the thread".

How rude.

Why all the other comments on otherstuff? I thought we were just discussing the portrait?

Nannan2 Wed 29-May-24 01:25:55

It has made her look pixie-faced and with pixie ears..Sorry but it's awful.

Thank you

Think what was said when it was announced she had surgery and would not return to public duties until after Easter.

She was too thin. Her husband was having an affair. She was having plastic surgery. We have a right to know what surgery.

My post,

Apologies for misunderstanding.

I attempt no opinions to other people weight, their plastic surgery status, their surgery status, if their husband has affairs. Really, who knows?

I can fail in my attempts, but I hope I'd never post such.

They are unkind remarks, that was Anniebach's point.

I don’t think you know anniebach at all, otherwise you would understand that she was being sarcastic about the unreasonable questions and comments people ask/make about the royals. She wasn’t genuinely saying we should know all the details of Catherine’s illness, nor was she saying that William was having an affair. These are details that some people consider appropriate to discuss. Most of us, including annie think these details are nothing to do with the public.

I’m sorry I didn’t read it as sarcasm. I’ve seen a fair few comments in the same vein on various social media posts and took Anniebach’s as being another one of those.

I didn't understand why that was said either - I have no actual facts about these people, however it seemed unkind to say.

It’s awful! First glance… it has an Asian note in the face (to me!), does not even capture her face shape or features, half her stately wardrobe is missing - and then the artist ran out of paint!

Anniebach Mon 27-May-24 11:47:31

Thank you Maddy yes what was said when Buck house announced Catherine had surgery and wouldn’t be making
public appearances until after Easter.

It's horrible

Anniebach Mon 27-May-24 10:56:50

Callistemon thank you, yes definitely quoting the intrusive
demands

Callistemon21 Mon 27-May-24 10:54:32

Anniebach

Good grief

I think narrowboatnan didn't understand your post and the fact you were using sarcasm, Anniebach when you were in fact quoting others' intrusive demands to know what was going on.

Pantglas2 Mon 27-May-24 10:47:01

It reminds me of the Bunty comic back page…where you could cut out different frocks etc and dress Bunty!

Anniebach Mon 27-May-24 10:03:33

Good grief

narrowboatnan Mon 27-May-24 09:50:35

I’ve read through all the comments (up to this point) and can hardly believe it when I read these two:

We have a right to know what the Princess of Wale’s surgery was

And

The Prince of Wales was having an affair

The poster may like to think about what she has said. Do we have the right to know about anyone’s personal medical affairs? Really? Are you, OP, going to share yours with the world?

What proof do you have of this alleged affair? Actual proof. Not parroting what one other person wrote. If you have such proof to back up your statement, please share it with the rest of us.

Isn’t a portrait supposed to resemble the person being painted? It’s awful!

Callistemon21 Sun 26-May-24 23:10:54

Ninat474

Really don’t care

So why bother to post? 🤔

Ninat474 Sun 26-May-24 23:02:15

Really don’t care

Anniebach Sun 26-May-24 22:09:17

I now question, did the artist choose not to paint what we all
see ?

Crossstitchfan Sun 26-May-24 21:59:11

This artist had a beautiful subject to paint and yet he/she came up with this dreadful painting.
It isn’t remotely like the Princess, who is a very attractive woman, and I am amazed that Tatler allowed it to be on the cover of the magazine.
The Princess must be very disappointed with this and I hope the ‘artist’ wasn’t paid!
