How often do you wear perfume

Yesterday we went out for dinner (actually it was street food, eaten in a shelter on the seafront 😂) and to celebrate the occasion I spritzed on a bit of perfume. Similarly my husband used an expensive aftershave (usually he only bothers for weddings and funerals).

Anyway, it got me thinking. It takes me a couple of years to get through a bottle of perfume, I’ve got lots of it (mostly gifts from family and friends) and it’s all good stuff. So I have decided that (if I can remember) I’m going to wear perfume every day!!

Today I’m in my scruffy painting smock, but if this was smellyvision you would smelling Jo Malone’s Pear and Freesia. 😂

Most days. Not if I’m staying in,though. My daughter tends to buy me it. When I go on hols I decant it into a small container by squirting it over and over because customs won’t let it through otherwise.

Clinique Aromatics, Jo Malone Honeysuckle-and-something-or-other but not when I'm, wearing jeans, which is most days.

Nearly every day unless I was staying in.
I like Marc Jacob perfumes and currently using one of them called Daisy wild bought on the plane on a recent holiday.
Yes to perfumes reminding you of certain times Urms I wore Beautiful on my wedding day and I still wear it it’s my one for best. Another one Miracle by Lancôme reminds me of a lovely family holiday in our favourite place. Happy days.

For me, everyday, Ralph Lauren, Romance

Shinamae Sat 25-May-24 12:22:29

Every day it’s either one of these..

I just counted up. I have 19 bottles. Well ‘I’m worth it’ (in my estimation).

Thorntrees Sat 25-May-24 12:21:14

Everyday,Chanel no5 or Givenchy ysatis are my favourites with a body spray of lavender every time I go upstairs.
The grandchildren loved it that I had a Grandma smell as they called it.
My birthday is in July so works out nicely to get a new bottle every 6 months.

Urmstongran Sat 25-May-24 12:17:08

Every single day. Today it ‘O’ by Lancôme. Yesterday it was L’Occitane Roses. I have many to choose from. Perfumes always remind me of certain times in my life - Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps that I wore on my wedding day for instance. Himself wore Eau Savage by Dior. 💙

Kate1949 Sat 25-May-24 12:13:30

Every day. A cheap and cheerful one such as Next's Just Pink and more expensive ones for going out. At the moment I have a Jimmy Choo one. I think it's called All About Choo or something. I also have some Black Opium.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 25-May-24 12:08:32

Every day, whatever I’m doing. My favourite was Peony by Penhaligan but they’ve stopped making it. At the moment I’m using Elizabeth Arden.
Perfume and earrings every day before I go downstairs.

Jaxjacky Sat 25-May-24 12:04:17

When I rememember, Opium or Obsession, but I’m trying to remember Opium body lotion after showering.

JamesandJon33 Sat 25-May-24 12:03:08

Most every day. I usually wear Jo Malone, Basil, lime and mandarin, but now and again I like a squirt of Mitsouko. I found this quite by chance whilst doing some research .

Pantglas2 Sat 25-May-24 12:03:01

I agree Rosie about try it on first rather than smelling it on someone else. I’ve stuck with Beautiful for that reason as it seems to be the only one that doesn’t smell of cats wee on me after 30 minutes!

So many of my friends seem to be able to swap lovely scents willy nilly and when they offer me a spritz of something new they seem to pong on me 🤧

hazel93 Sat 25-May-24 12:01:02

Every day unless on holiday where mozzies are rife then it's Deet !
I agree that you need to actually spray on and carry on before finding if it really does suit you.
Have used Issey Miyake for years , often asked what I am wearing.
Can wear Chanel 19 but 5 is a total no no !

Millie22 Sat 25-May-24 11:57:21

Chanel and I got a free bottle from the airport last year.

I was quite amazed but very happy.

Cossy Sat 25-May-24 11:53:04

I keep forgetting haha My dearest late mum wore perfume every day and had weekly fresh flowers in the house, two of my fondest memories

My two go-to perfumes are Chanel No 5 and one by Miss Dior that I can never remember the name of, but it’s much lighter

Bellasnana Sat 25-May-24 11:50:17

Every day. I feel undressed without it!😄

My favourites are Chanel No.19 and Chanel Allure but I’m also using CK One bought for me by a friend.

DD3 says to her boys ‘you smell of Nana’.

I Just cannot decide which perfume to buy.
Should I just go somewhere like Frazers and try several samples on cards?

You really need to smell perfume on your own skin, and give it time to develop. Samples on cards can give an indication of a shortlist, but then you should only try a maximum of two on your skin, one per wrist, at a time.

I had the privilege of being attended to by Angela Flanders in her shop many years ago. She kept small pots of coffee beans to clear your sense of smell between perfumes. Her perfumes are fairly expensive but last well on the skin.

Gosh - I’m surprised at how many wear it every day.

I had an asthmatic response to perfume from my 30’s-50’s so I mostly stopped wearing it (though had never been a regular user) - then by my mid 50’s I discovered I could wear some (expensive!) perfumes. My daughter wears perfume every day, but though we often wear the same one (a Chanel) it smells completely different on us.

On the whole I tend to stick with various Chanel perfumes, but I really like a particular one by Tom Ford, though I would never buy it, it’s so expensive. My daughter should have shares in Jo Malone she buys so much, but I’m not complaining because she treats me too. 😄

I love perfume and wear it almost every day. But I can't really afford those posh ones above. So I buy M/S..my favourite being Florentyna, and Next.
Luckily one of my granddaughters gives me a posher one now and again.

dogsmother Sat 25-May-24 11:37:35

Every day now.
When I was working I was very very aware ( having been on the other side as a patient) that to have somebody up close and personal with a perfume that you didn’t like is the most awful experience.
Now I am at liberty to wear my current choice and I love it. Connock Kukui, it was a gift from one of my sons and his partner I’d never heard of it before.

Marydoll Sat 25-May-24 11:36:50

Spuddy, do you realise that you have lost your anonymity by posting your Instagram name?

Perhaps you don't mind.

NotAGran55 Sat 25-May-24 11:36:43

Everyday. It’s part of me and my daily grooming. Even if I’m in alone all day, not seeing a soul I wear it.

TerriBull Sat 25-May-24 11:30:54

Every day, I love perfume, I also don't feel dressed without it. Currents include Hermes Eau Des Merveilles, Maison Margiela Relplica Range By The Fireplace, Jo Malone, English Pear and Freesia and Chanel No 5, which I trade accrued Boots points for. I also always have a Chanel No 5 body lotion on the go for special occasions, not every day. I love it.
