Carrots and milk

I remove carrots from the bag, cut off both ends of each carrot, place in a paper bag, place in the fridge, seem to last forever.

yes I've found carrots tend to go bendy..lettuce don't keep as fresh either..I'll try puting them on kitchen paper,,,thanks for the tip...

In my experience the fruit and veg purchased from budget supermarkets only last a day or two, whereas the same items bought from one of the big four supermarkets last much longer.

Sometimes buying cheaper is just false economy. I've never had a problem with milk, it often lasts a day or two longer than the use by date.

My SIL has a complicated arrangement for her milk. She likes full fat milk to drink, semi skimmed on cereal and skimmed in tea. As it's just her in the household all of her milk goes off before it is finished....................... except she never seems to notice!

Visitors are advised to suggest making the refreshments themselves, that way a covert sniff of the chosen milk can ascertain whether or not to opt for black tea or coffee!!

I buy all fruit, salads and vegetables from our market, always loose and I don’t keep any in the fridge except salad stuff. Most of these last a week.
I don’t buy cow milk (think of the calves!)

Organic milk turned with two days to go before UBD just yesterday. Yes, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes and worst of all strawberries and raspberries all seem to go the day they are delivered or bought. I buy frozen ones now, but the flavour is not anything like fresh. I'm growing my own berries and will seek out pick your own this summer. Brexit? Yup, I reckon fruit and veg sitting around... Not sure why the milk though...

I don’t have any problem keeping vegetables or milk but I do run my fridge on the cold side. Grateful for the tip about filtered milk lasting well if you’re going away.

I think vegetables have suffered from having so much rain, that certainly seems to have affected my favoured Maris Pipers. I prefer carrots unwashed, they haven't been up to much either. Milk hasn't been a problem.
