one of those days

I miss my husband , just for himself, but also for that "other person." I know I am lucky to have a choice, but does anyone else find that you have food in the cupboard, but cant think of anything you want to cook or eat. Jobs that could be started but no enthusiasm to begin anything? When there is another person around they can often have a good idea and you are off. I sometimes go out for a short walk and come back ready to do something, but it is quite dark and overcast and I think it will be raining very shortly. Then when I am in a better frame of mind I wonder why I didnt do something before! Perhaps I should be called Awkward Annie rather than Madeleine!Anyone else having a day like me?

Oh so sorry you are feeling down Madeleine is there something in the house you could get on with, something you have been putting off. Think we all have these days but can't imagine what it must be like to have lost your husband.

I have days like this. My husband died six months ago and I don't feel motivated to do anything - I make myself do stuff and go out but it's all a big effort. And I hate returning to an empty house. I know how you feel. Best Wishes.

I am having that sort of day myself, but nothing to do with no husband. Sorry for your loss.

I bounce off a close relative. We use whatsapp. We regularly tell each other what we are up to, which can push start things.

And we turn things into competions. Even as silly as, who has the best weather. All helps me and her to keep going with things.

Thanks for your messages. I finally got myself going and got the wok out and made a stir fry, which suited on lots of levels. Quite good chopping up vegetables and banging about, used up various bits and pieces so felt quite virtuous too and it turned out well I have a stool in the kitchen so can sit down to do all the chopping and slicing which does give me the chance to get rid of some irritation!. I can do my version of the french guillotine or the Red Queen from Alice ,if I hear the news and there are politicians I cant stand!! Even the weather has cleared up a bit but too late to get the washing going. So hope your days have improved too and thanks for the replies

I manage to have motivation on most days, always in my mind I know that it is better that me, the one who copes and does, was the one left behind so I pootle on, every day I find something of interest and I get on and do it. Usually I am in silence but am comfortable in my thoughts. The radio and tv are intrusive

I don`t make too many plans but I allow evolving to happen, eg today I cleaned the outside windows and cills, went on a snail hunt in my garden and had to jiggle some savings accounts to get better interest. I did not wake up with any of those ideas in my head and this is very me, it was different when my husband was alive. I don`t plan meals apart from being sure to get my fill of plant varieties. To make it easier I do make ready meals for my freezer

Rainy days are more difficult but I have my sewing for then
