I don't remember the theme tune but didn't the narrator always say "are you sitting comfortably, then I'll begin"?

We still have a vinyl album of Listen With Mother songs. My ds, now 49yo, listened to that album over and over again. Happy days! ❤️

It’s one of the first pieces of music that I ever remember hearing that stuck with me all my life. It’s on every play list I’ve ever made up. Sitting on my mum’s knee while “Listen with Mother” was on.

Recognise.

I used to listen with my mother, while she did her ironing. smile
I'll have to see if I reconise the theme tune.

Music is wonderful for evoking memories and classical music can be so soothing and therapeutic

Oh for those happy, carefree childhood days again!

I looked for it; it is 'The Dolly Suite, Opus 56' by Berceuse. Hope I've spelled that correctly!

Oh yes. I was once at a party with gentle classical music playing in the background. The music changed to the theme from Listen with Mother and half of the guests stopped, frozen in time for a few seconds.
We all laughed and carried on , aware of the moment that we had shared.

Just found it ! WOW, thankyou Loves Bach , brought back so many happy memories. Happy days , when me and my siblings felt safe , loved and secure - how fortunate we were!

Yes I remember it well. We used to call it "ding de ding" and my mother would be washing up , or in the winter the sound goes with the smell of baking, or the ironing being done. My sister and I used to sit listening to it. Such a long time ago

I can't recall the tune but I remember well sitting beside Mum and enjoying Listen with Mother.

Feeling tired and stressed yesterday, I walked into the kitchen as a piece of music began on Classic FM. I cannot find the words to properly describe the feelings of calm and peace that washed over me, and made me stand still and listen to the end. It was the theme from 'Listen with Mother', which was part of my afternoon from the first days of my life until starting school at four. It started the day again - better by one hundred per cent.
