Good morning all from south Manchester (why does predictive text always offer Mountain!) where it’s dry, mild and we have some shy rays of sunshine. We are off to Christie’s shortly for Himself to receive his weekly iv chemo. When we come home he sleeps the afternoon away. And then sleeps well tonight. 💙

Good Morning Tuesday 4th June 2024
(50 Posts)Good morning from a drizzly Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
GM, I had to pay £8.50 as a deposit, the last time at the dentist, however mine is an NHS one fortunately.
Grandmabatty, my eldest son was prone to tantrums and I remember standing in M&S, with a two year old, a new baby and this four year old, lying screaming on the floor.
My sister in law was so embarrassed, she ran away and abandoned me!
Yesterday was very tiring. After picking up a prescription for more antibiotics, I decided to pop into Asda on the way home. There were few bedding plants, but I did get more strawberries plants for my new planter.
There was something wrong with my hand scanner, it either wouldn't scan or was scanning two of everything. I just knew I would get a trolley search. I ended up with a full trolley search, so all the plants etc. had to be removed from the trolley to check. All because a £1 punnet of strawberries hadn't scanned. 🤬.
At one point I thought I was going to be sick, due to the persistent coughing. Talk about being a noticebox. All I wanted was to get home and lie down.
I have to commend the lovely member of staff who did the rescan. She was so pleasant.
I got home to find a message from DD, to say she had tripped getting on the train and her shoe had fallen under the train onto the track. Consequently the train had to be stopped to allow staff to retrieve it. 😱 Thankfully she wasn't hurt.
I was not surprised at the incident, she experiences calamities on a daily basis.
Today, we had a short break o Dundee planned, but it has been cancelled. DH thinks I am not well enough. He is of course, correct! Disappointments and cancelled activities are the norm these days. I have learned to take each day as it comes, anything good is a bonus.
He did suggest a run down the coast to Bagg's neck of the woods, but it is pouring with rain. 😢
I wish you all a pleasant day and hugs for all the poorlies and their wonderful and patient carers.
Gingster if you go to Dunwich and pop in for coffee and cake after lunch at the Flora tea rooms,do look at the bank behind the carpark. The foxgloves were spectacular there a couple of weeks ago,in colours, size and number I’ve never seen before.Enjoy your lunch.
Good morning from a grey and cloudy Suffolk. I’m meeting a friend at the seaside for coffee,a walk along the prom and lunch before the rain starts, apparently at 1pm.
We noticed when we walked along this prom a couple of weeks ago that one of the sea facing hotels has a special ‘pensioners’ lunch’ midweek so we are going to try this. A table overlooking the sea has been booked. This hotel used to be regarded as the best one in town but that was many years ago. We’ll see.
Hope today is an enjoyable one for all and thinking of those with worries and ill health.
Good morning all from an overcast day here on the Suffolk coast. We haven’t had the sunshine many of you have enjoyed but it’s been ok as we’ve been working on the garden. All looking good now.
Our situpon mower is still not working after being at the repairers for a month. The owner of the business popped at 6.30 last evening to have a look and says we need a new ‘something or other’. He has to order and will come here to fix it.
We had a delightful walk in the forest yesterday and the rhododendrons, honeysuckle and foxgloves were abundant and showy.
I took photos but it doesn’t show their glory.
Today we might go to Dunwich and walk the dog before a fish and chip lunch on the beach. Liberty was there only a week or so back.
I hope all poorlies are feeling a bit better and Mizuna , hopefully the doctor will speed up your op. You’ve suffered long enough!
Take care and enjoy the day as best you can 🌸
Good morning from an overcast W Kent. DF calling in sometime this morning I expect an ear bashing over the Election and then we are going with a U3A group to visit a Sikh Temple.
Best wishes to all
Good morning everyone yesterday was a real scorcher but todays meant to rain all day here on the east coast of Fife. I’m having a duvet day now that Sky has come back on. Netflix here I come.
Yesterday my new PA took me to my local farm shop for lunch I had macaroni and cheese with salad it was really delicious I’ll be back
Have a good Tuesday my friends
Good morning Mick and everyone from showery Carlisle.
I've a morning of housework planned today and this afternoon, who knows?! I've a myriad of little jobs that need doing but I always seem to have something better to do!
Your DGS2 is going through a phase Grandmabatty....only a short time of his life, just seems like an eternity to his carers at the time!
Have the best possible day everyone.
Good morning from cool, breezy, and rainy South Lanarkshire.
That sounds exhausting Grandmabatty, it’s a while since we’ve experienced tantrums but the youngest has just turned two so we may be back there soon.
We watched the annual duck race in the park yesterday evening amid much cheering from the crowd. It’s part of the gala celebrations, people pay for a numbered rubber duck and hope theirs is the first to reach the finish line after they’re all tipped into the burn further upstream. The raft race took place the other day, water seems to feature a fair amount.
No plans today but may make some bracelets for my DGDs who are going to a Taylor Swift concert later this month. The bracelets are a thing apparently.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a cloudy hillside in south Glos, a cooler day ahead after the glorious sunshine yesterday.
We had a walk across fields in a nearby village yesterday with the dog, followed by a coffee. A lovely couple of hours, very peaceful too.
I knitted a couple of inches of my second sock then had to unpick it because I’d got the pattern wrong 🙄. I wasn’t paying attention as I listened to an audiobook.
Today dog is out with the dog walker, DH is out for lunch, I’m giving the kitchen a good clean and tidy then I fancy tabbouleh and steak for lunch 🥗
I need to sort out my last planter and then start weeding again. It’s never ending but I actually quite enjoy it.
I too had to pay half in advance at the dentist; I was shocked at a single filling costing £250! No option other than going private at my dentist now, I’ve been a patient there for 45 years 😵💫
I hope you have a lovely day 🌹
Good morning from cloudy, humid Colchester. Rain forecast for later.
Usual Tuesday volunteering in the charity shop.
I'll change DS's bed as he is only working 3 days this week and will be home again on Friday.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and looks like we’ve had some overnight rain
That was a tough day yesterday gBatty hope today is better for you, I remember those days well!
No definite plans for today, but we’ll see how the day goes, I’ve lots to keep me busy and DD2 will probably be round later
Well done to your DH with the honey llfl I don’t know anything about bees and honey but it sounds really interesting
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from a very overcast North Leicestershire.
I am helping at a different Memory Cafe this morning and then I have a singing lesson - having been awake since 2.30, I will be ready for a big sit down when I get back.
Welcome to all new posters.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Morning from a bright Dorset with high cloud, we had a lovely day yesterday with a delicious meal sat outside.
Best wishes for your scan Mick.
Not sure what we’re doing today yet, out and about.
🦩🦩
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
We have a large bucket of honey in the kitchen. We have left it overnight so any impurities (bits of bee etc) can rise to the surface. Once this has been skimmed off we can put it in jars. OH thinks about 20. It tastes delicious. This is OH’s first batch of honey and I think he’s quite proud. His bees should produce more honey by August.
I’m not sure about the rest of the day. OH will go to his shooting club this evening. I usually visit friends but I’m not sure about today.
I realised yesterday that we are off on holiday the day after the General Election. I had imagined staying up all night watching it all enfold, but I can’t now. Actually, last time it was evident where it was going by 10.05 pm with the exit polls!
Have a good day everyone, especially those with difficulties - and welcome to new GNs.
Last day on holiday in menorca. It’s been lovely but there’s no place like home for me. Hubby has had a lovely birthday here and is rested. I remarked to my husband yesterday around the pool I’ve never seen so many tattoos on people and lots are women! This amused him. The heat is progressing so I will be looking forward to some cool English air and will be complaining forthwith! Have a lovely day everyone.
Regarding dentists: I’ve been going to the same practice since moving here in 2011. Within the last few months, I’ve been asked to pay a deposit when booking treatment sessions. Sad sign of the times.
Good morning from an overcast Torbay.
Thank you for all your kind comments yesterday regarding my journey and my DGD’s dancing, especially your concern, Grammaretto, regarding her knee. How sad for you to have sprained your ankle in a theatre! I think many backstage areas are hazardous. Luckily, I let DD2 have some of my Ibuprofen gel to apply which I use for my arthritic knee: it worked!
Despite my apprehension, my trains both ran on time. Being able to change at Stafford and catch a train straight through to Torquay is so much easier than navigating Birmingham New St. Station!
This morning I have a booked telephone appointment with a pharmacist from my practice. I’ve waited so long for it that I can’t quite remember what it’s about! After that, I’ll go and give a hand with Props.
I hope those who are unwell have a better day, especially Marydoll. Welcome to Macadia and NangelaMary also Claregreybear. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning from s somerset, cool cloudy and some showers today
I have a bowl of gooseberries to top, tail and process for the freezer today. I am also going to start making my cultured butter today, the components will be arriving this morning
Whoops, I had an amazon spree yesterday, parcels arriving today.
Have a good day
Good morning from a cloudy, cool Cornwall, which suits me as it's been too hot to sit outside here! To Lidl's this morning plus, I hope, a doctor's appointment to get my knee checked as it's mega sore and puffed up! As my youngest son says, 'Maybe you need an op, mum.' Ha ha ha. My eldest son is in Germany exploring wartime tunnels. He is a one-off, but that may be pot calling kettle etc. 😉
Good morning from a grey, damp Malta where we had thunderstorms overnight. Still hot at 27°C though.
I’ve arrived to watch the boys and nobody is up yet.
Best of luck with your scan Mick.
GM I was shocked last time I went to the dentist by how costly it has become since I last needed anything doing. I have a feeling my teeth are going to cost me a lot of money soon as they all seem to hurt.
I have my nails this afternoon then will accompany DD3 and the boys to the paediatrician for a check up.
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and raining. It's to be showery all day and cooler than of late. Mick I hope the CT scan goes well. GrandMattie that sounds a bit odd, that you have to pay half before treatment!
Yesterday was a hard day. Dgs2 had a major meltdown about play group and refused to go. He was so distressed. I finally realised the futility of trying to get him there and brought him home again. He eventually calmed down and I told him we needed to go in the car to the chemist. On the way out of my street I casually asked if he wanted to go to play group. When he said yes, I whirled the car around and got him there before he could change his mind. Off he trotted quite happily. He had another meltdown in the afternoon over picking up his brother from nursery. It was hard work! Last night I was in bed early because I was exhausted with the tears, tantrums and me diverting and cajoling.
Today is another day, to badly paraphrase Scarlett O'Hara. I woke very early because of the early night. I will have another attempt at the chemist which was closed for a holiday yesterday. I'm not sure what we will get up to, but I hope it doesn't involve tantrums! Have a good day all.
Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather grey South Yorkshire. The sun is doing its best to break through but it is set to be wet this afternoon. My newly cleaned patio is being sanded and sealed this morning and then all my pots will be put back in place. I managed to get the front lawn cut and trimmed yesterday so that’s another job out of the way. Volunteering this afternoon.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from a grey Bristol. No sunshine on the menu today.
The toddler group was less well attended, only 27 rather than 32 families, which made a huge difference to the noise levels.
The dentist appointment was horrendously expensive, and I had to pay half the filling fee in advance! Never encountered that before.
Nothing happening today, so I’m going to Waitrose on foot, library which is opposite, the carry on with my quilt.
I hope today brings contentment. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but looks grey sky wise here in brackley this morning.
Today is a busy day , I will bus to Bicester as usual meet up with some i Know , return no solid lunch as I then have to get the bus to Banbury for a CT scan , so will have some solid food on return from the hospital .

Mick
