Muslims don’t like dogs - I don’t know why- must ask Dr Google

Our estate agent told us that 14y ago when we were downsizing crazyH. Said ‘farm the dog out for the day, hide the dog bed and bowls’. We did. The house sold (2010) within the week.

There is one about a prostitute using her shoe to give a thirsty dog some water, too.

I believe there is an Islamic story about Muhammad and his cat Muezza.

One day Muhammad woke up and was dressing to go down to pray when he saw that his cat was asleep on the sleeve of his prayer robe. So, he cut off the sleeve with scissors rather than disturb his cat.

As Grandtante says, that was the cat's owner, or he knows it well -- the average person would have had a shock reaction when the cat jumped on. The cat is a tabby tortoiseshell (perhaps in USA a 'tri colour tortie') and generally considered one of the cleverest of cat types, if not the outright champ!

Our very first cat was such a girl, we had a very steep learning curve while she trained us up to be suitable hosts of her B&B.

The clip (I've seen it before) is from Algeria, and there were comments about Islam, and animals. Anyone who visits Turkey should be aware how cats are admired there, stray cats get readily looked after, for instance. Other Islamic countries may do the same, but we haven't been.

The chaps in the Mosque 'congregation' (if there's a more accurate term, I don't know what it is!) presumably don't realise the cat is female, or it would be banished to a back room where their own females have to worship?! [there would be further jokes available about keeping herself covered up, to avoid overly exciting the menfolk . . .]

Watching the cat's behaviour (no claws out when climbing,) I think it thought Sheikh Walid Mehsas was in need of comfort and was doing its best to offer it. Then, realising that the Sheik's behaviour was his choice not due to hurt, it went about its own business.

Gummie

The man was either the cat's person, or the cat wanted him to stop caterwauling

That made me laugh Gummie.
The Imam did a good job keeping his composure.

Being a cat owner myself, I would suggest it may well have been his own cat or at least one that belongs in the mosque.

The Prophet Mohammed is believed to have been very fond of cats, which are not considered unclean animals by strict Moslems.

Certainly, the man leading the prayers is doing it well and not allowing himself to be distracted.

MissAdventure Thu 06-Jun-24 21:22:25

My aunt had a fridge magnet that said "Cats don't have owners, they have staff" smile

AGAA4 Thu 06-Jun-24 20:08:58

So funny but I think all cats feel entitled.

ElaineI Thu 06-Jun-24 19:55:11

Love clips of cats smile

sassysaysso Thu 06-Jun-24 13:26:40

Think the cat has done it before - knew when to jump down just before the sheikh bowed

MissAdventure Thu 06-Jun-24 12:48:01

That cat looked as if it had its claws out. 😆
I think that's why the guy decided to let it do what it wanted.

Bumface Thu 06-Jun-24 12:44:00

Great clip, made my day.
I used to have a cat who had her own special chair and if anyone sat in it she would either wedge herself in behind them and push them with all four paws or, she would run up the back of the chair and hit them on the head with her paw, usually with her claws out.
They are definitely not like dogs.

biglouis Thu 06-Jun-24 12:10:59

If the phone goes while my nephew is paying attention to his cat the cat gets very annoved and miows at him in disgust.
