Will you watch tonight’s debate on BBC at 7:30pm?

I’m not interested in the smaller parties. They (SNP and Plaid) have their own elections in (?) two years. What they think/say will be irrelevant to me. Same for the Greens they can promise all sorts but will never need to be held accountable. LibDems and Reform neck & neck in overall irrelevance but obviously their parties want a handful of seats in the HoC to hold Starmer’s feet to the fire.

As ‘entertainment’ it won’t be boring. Rayner is feisty. Farage is a great communicator and Mordaunt held her own against Rayner on several occasions during PMQs.

That’s a strange comment Monica. We’ve all got lives, but those of us who are interested enough in politics to do so make time for these things, whereas your interests lie elsewhere. Both equally valid.

Whereas I, sadly, have a week old hip and too much time on my hands. Besides, I can’t quite think that weighing up the potential government is exactly a waste of my time.

I totally disapprove of Sunak’s behaviour yesterday. I never believed he was PM material, and this simply confirms my view. However I don’t hold his poor judgment against Penny Mordaunt. It was his decision, not hers.

I thought, but could be wrong, that her brother is trans and that’s why she was/is supportive. I maybe wrong.
I believe her father was in the military, probably navy, as Portsmouth is a naval base.

I’ll be watching. I just hope Mishal Husain will make a better stab at controlling the debate, and will stop people dominating and talking over each other than happened in the Sky debacle. I want to hear what the smaller parties have to say too (and I don’t mean just Nigel Farage blustering on).

She tried very hard to push through self ID and recently when the tide has turned pretended she didnt believe that at all. I dont think she cares about either group involved in that debate.
However her constituency has strong military links and she is having to go on a TV debate hours after Sunak messed up DDay. I doubt it's going to be much fun for her.

That’s interesting Galaxy. What is it you don’t like about Penny Mordaunt? I think she comes across as genuine and sincere, unlike some of tonight of them on tonight.

Yes, I’m planning to watch it. I was surprised to see seven participants though, it might well be too many for proper discussion. We’ll see, I’ll watch and see. There’s always the off switch if it’s boring. I like Penny Mordaunt, she’s from the area she represents, but looks as if might lose her seat. She’s not my MP but represents part of the Portsmouth area and we live about ten miles from her constituency. I believe she’s a good local MP, according to my friend, who is a constituent of PM.

It's a funny world. To say I am not a fan of mordaunt is an understatement but I almost almost feel sorry for her.

It is 7 Sparklefizz but I think you’re right in assuming the main focus will be on those three!

I’m going to give it a go but to be honest 7 pundits might be a bit much. Not sure 90 minutes of shouting and getting in digs and sound bites will be in any way particularly informative.

I will give it a go. There are a number of intelligent, articulate politicians who, when Ive seen them speak, seem to be on top of their brief, involved: Flynn, Rayner, Cooper & Denyer, in particular.

I hope the format allows for informed debate, and that the moderation is high quality.

I'd like to see it but I'm away and Internet flakey, hopefully on YouTube tomorrow. I hope Nigel Farage does dominate and puts the others to shame. God knows how Angela Rayner will cope with the likes of Penny Mordant who is very articulate and also Farage. Will be interesting I think, all depends on what the format is and what questions are asked.

I suppose that’s best Whitewave or we could just read the papers tomorrow. Mind you they put their own spin on things so perhaps better to judge for ourselves, not edited clips on tv tomorrow or articles written by journos with their own agenda.

I will give it a try but if it's shouting over everyone and character assassination then I will switch over to something else.
