How many phone numbers do you know without looking at your phone?

4. My mobile, landline, 2 local hospitals, 1 sister-in-law's landline

I know one and that is our landline. I ought to memorise my mobile number as it’s often necessary to give it. One of the sons is very good at remembering numbers and can even give his bank account number without having to look it up. He obviously didn’t get this ability from me!

Although I have a list of phone numbers it is kept at home.
Your thread has prompted me to create a short list of important numbers for my handbag etc.

I used to know my daughter's but I only know her UK number and she lives in Dubai now with a dual sim smartphone. I can't ring her as one of the numbers costs me a fortune and the other costs her. She phones me as she has a contract with plenty international minutes so I don't ever need her number. If I need to contact I WhatsApp!

I recently damaged my knee and it gave way on me while I was out walking my son's dog thinking the walk would loosen it up! My phone was charging in their house and I didn't know anyone's number to get help even when a stranger offered to let me use his. I managed to get back eventually in a lot of pain. About a week later I realised my DiL's number is on the dog's collar!

DS and DD's numbers are in my diary along with my bother's and his wife's. Hopefully that will get me by in most emergencies assuming I have either phone or diary with me. Note to self - don't go out without your phone especially if your knee is hurting!

Just our home landline, oh and our business landline. Everyone else only have mobiles and I can’t remember any of them - even my own!

I can remember dozens, both mobile and landlines - but I've always had that kind of brain which just retains information.

I used to know loads when they were landlines I can’t remember any mobiles as I always click the name I don’t use the numbers like I would on a landline

I know my husband´s mobile and a few important professional numbers and my twin daughters numbers ..

Landline numbers were much easier to recall.

How many?? Two, our own (landline), and one other, someone who volunteers as I do, their landline when it appears.

I remember absolutely no mobile numbers, too many digits and they all look the same to me.

I'd suggest that folk store important numbers in a little book, keep it in a pocket, as a phone can get mislaid, damaged, stolen, etc.

Only my mob number and my home phone number! Oops I had better write the family’s mobile numbers down somewhere!!

I can only remember my mobile and rely on my mobile for every other contact number When it was landlines only I could recite lots of numbers! I'm going to be lost if my mobile disappears.

The only number I know is my own mobile number. The only reason I can remember that one is because I have had the same number ever since I got my first phone in 2001. The other one I had for work in Turkey was a different number and I could only say that one in Turkish. You could tell me your number and I could transpose the figures as I am writing them down, Me and numbers are like oil and water, totally incompatible.

I have finally managed to learn my own mobile number, and I know my husband’s work number, but wouldn’t have a clue where to start with his mobile!

I have always found numbers hard to memorize but in the days of d ialing phone numbers I could remember my own, my husband's and parents' plus a few close friends.

Now, I have no idea of anyone's numbers, not even my own, but I do have a card with information about next of kin in my wallet, including their phone numbers.

Cambsnan - very good point! Has certainly made me think, I don't know any phone nos I just rely on the lists held on my phone. Really need to memorise at least 2 of them and also maybe write a couple down and keep them in handbag (? with all the other junk?).

I remember my primary school boyfriend's number it was Inverarity 254 does that count ?

My own landline number, Mum’s and one of my DD’s, the other one has no landline.
I can’t remember any mobile number at all.

Oh, and I've just remembered my father's landline number. He died in 1997.

Only my own. Which, prior to COVID, I could never remember. Since then I've been asked for it so often that it's locked into my brain. But only if I say the number in a particular pattern.
I can still remember my childhood number with the original area code and the later digital STD code.

Thank you cambsnan for highlighting how important it is not to rely on our mobiles. I shall now make sure that I have important contact numbers written down and not just stored on my phone
