Things You Can't Do No Matter How Much You Try!

1-No matter how many times I've tried it over the years I just can't cut pizza!

Whether the pizza base is hard or soft I can't cut them with a knife of any sort and I can't use actual pizza cutters either! Burning my fingers on a bit of hot pizza crust trying to hold it while hacking away at the pizza and bits come flying off all over the place! In public eateries I have the embarrassment of getting my hubby to cut it for me! Thankfully he's a gentleman and I never have to ask him, he just does it!

At home I use scissors! Ahhh, so much easier and quicker! Slice away! Slice away!

2-I can't use manual tin openers! Partly as I'm left-handed and most are for ''righties'' and partly because I just ... can't... anyway so out comes my trusted electric opener! I bought it second-hand for £5.00 from a German market stall in Birmingham City Centre almost 30 years ago and while it's now old and rusted and I can't clean it properly, it still works like new!

3- And don't get me started on paint rollers, the sort with one handle on one side! In my left or right hand I find them impossible!

Another person here with zero navigational skills. If there is a choice of turnings I will always take the wrong one. I can find my way to a new destination but then can't find my way back. Drives my husband mad. If I am lost I have no idea which general direction I should be going. Map reading is an anathema to me, thanks to GPS the number of arguments we had while travelling is greatly reduced.

I use ordinary strong kitchen scissors to cut pizza as I have limited room in my drawers (😉) for gadgets!

I can’t read a map unless I turn it the way I’m going which drives Mr PG mad 😡 - I can read upside down though which means I always make the right calls as navigator (and that makes him madder still 🤬!

I also am hopeless with maps, only slightly better if they are the right way round. If you were to plonk me in a strange town with a map I would virtually always end up at the opposite end to my destination.
Most satnavs turn the map so that they are facing the way you are going so this is obviously the right way to do it!

No matter how hard I try, I can’t get my DH to… put his shoes in the shoe rack, get up and put empty crisp packets, sweet wrappers etc in the ( nearby) bin or empty the dirty water after washing up 🤣🙄

I cannot ride a bike. Re pizza: I take scissors with me to the restaurant - if it's not pre-sliced, I do not care who sees me have at it...

Dismantling the roller brushes on my Vax carpet shampoo machine. Talk about "The Machine From Hell!" ( designed by a man, if you ask me, who has no intention of using one!)

I can't replace the drive belts on our Bissell carpet washing machine either. I have no idea why they can't design machines so that you can do everyday servicing easily.

Bridie22 and MissInterpreted my husband really wanted to learn to swim so he could take our daughter. He also found that he sank. He even bought a snorkel and goggles, but they didn’t help.

And I could never climb a rope either. Or run fast. Sometimes I have nightmares where I'm running away but simply running on the spot.

I can‘t whistle on my fingers. Heaven knows I’ve tried

I've always wanted to be able to do that to attract my childrens' attention at a distance but never managed the whistle.

I have never managed to make gelatin set properly.

One thing I often don't do is screw a bottlectop on properly, because I'm left-handed. Left-handedness runs in families. I inherited it from my father. In his childhood left-handers were forced to write with the right hand. My DD is another left-hander, but neither of the GSs has inherited it.
I'm a pretty good knitter, but have never mastered Fair Isle.

Fast.

I cut my pizza with a pair of scissors

Crazymum Wed 12-Jun-24 11:34:12

Swim, no matter how many times I've tried.

sarahcyn Wed 12-Jun-24 11:32:15

Open my eyes underwater. Not in 65 years of trying.

Whistle, wink, crack my fingers, roll my rrrs, ride a bicycle one handed .....

Buttonjugs Wed 12-Jun-24 11:16:09

She mentioned being right handed because the previous poster was left handed. So it was to imply that even though she wasn’t left handed she was still struggling to do something.

Etoile2701 Wed 12-Jun-24 11:15:06

I am the same with most of those. Oh ... and I can't drive full stop.

sharonarnott Wed 12-Jun-24 11:13:31

So did I. I don't know one single left handed person. Unless I count the tennis players I watch on telly and there aren't many of those either.

Bridie22 Wed 12-Jun-24 07:16:43

That's an impossibility Fiorentina 51 🤣

Walk past an open packet of chocolate digestives.

Freshair Tue 11-Jun-24 22:43:21

I could never do a handstand or cartwheel as a child or any other gymnastic style moves and regret that I never tried hard enough.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 11-Jun-24 22:10:25

I’m quite good at making cakes - it’s a hobby - but I’m blowed if I can slice them up evenly. I can never find the centre. I even bought a device once which looked like a torture instrument, and that didn’t work either.

dragonfly46 Tue 11-Jun-24 22:08:17

Throw a ball very far.
Whistle with 2 fingers.
Climb a rope.

When dishing out a meal for more than just the 2 of us I can't remember whose plate is whose!

If I’m dishing up in the kitchen (rather than serving dishes at the table) I put the plates in age order on the worktop
