Things You Can't Do No Matter How Much You Try!

1-No matter how many times I've tried it over the years I just can't cut pizza!

Whether the pizza base is hard or soft I can't cut them with a knife of any sort and I can't use actual pizza cutters either! Burning my fingers on a bit of hot pizza crust trying to hold it while hacking away at the pizza and bits come flying off all over the place! In public eateries I have the embarrassment of getting my hubby to cut it for me! Thankfully he's a gentleman and I never have to ask him, he just does it!

At home I use scissors! Ahhh, so much easier and quicker! Slice away! Slice away!

2-I can't use manual tin openers! Partly as I'm left-handed and most are for ''righties'' and partly because I just ... can't... anyway so out comes my trusted electric opener! I bought it second-hand for £5.00 from a German market stall in Birmingham City Centre almost 30 years ago and while it's now old and rusted and I can't clean it properly, it still works like new!

3- And don't get me started on paint rollers, the sort with one handle on one side! In my left or right hand I find them impossible!

I can't sing & would love to.
Can't play tennis despite years of tennis at school
Can't wrap presents so they don't look as if the dogs been at them.
Can't keep track of earrings & socks - lots of odds & v few pairs.

I have one kitchen aid that annoys me because I am left handed. My electric carving knife has the cord attached to the right hand side so it gets in the way of me cutting anything . A centre one would be far better but I cannot bring myself to splash out for a new one.

Thanks a bunch to absolutely EVERYONE who made various comments, I've had some jolly good belly laughs!

eddiecat78 - years ago I worked in cafes and restaurants and during busy times when we had multiple orders if I couldn't remember which plate was for which customer .... I worked in some weird ''greasy spoon'' places where there were no table numbers or anything! ... I'd make mental notes along with the physical ones so in my mind the table nearest the door was Number 1, wobbly table was number 2 etc.

With customers I'd remember ''such and such a meal for man with hand tattoo on table 3'', ''such and such a meal for woman with huge dangly earrings on table 7'' and so on and 9/10 times I was spot on when delivering the correct meals and drinks to the correct tables and customers!

Thankfully I had a good memory! HA!

I roll them up.

Swim, I have tried 3 times to learn, I cant do it, I sink.

I can swim a bit, but I'm not very good at it - but I cannot float. I also sink. Everyone I know says it's so easy to float, but I float like a cannonball (cue for a song there!)

I'm with those who can't draw straight lines. Also. I'm have 12 yards* of fabric that I should have made into curtains for the dining room months ago but I'm sure they'll turn out terrible because I can't sew in a straight line.

That's if I even get the measuring up right. Whenever I measure something I can get three different results and then DH or someone else measures and gets yet another length.

* Sorry, metres.

I can't wink.wink

I also can only drive an automatic car, not a manual. Most cars here are automatic and I just never learnt to drive manuals. I don’t like driving but you have to here, public transport isn’t good.

Knit, sew or crochet - I'm hopeless at anything like that. My mother tried numerous times to teach me to knit and eventually gave up in disgust. Even at school, I remember our class being taught how to knit a simple square - every one else had finished theirs and I hadn't even managed to cast on yet!
Oh, and dancing - I an hopelessly uncoordinated when it comes to dancing and so self-conscious that I just can't bring myself to even try.

Unscrew anything tight, even not that tight.

I can't draw a straight line even with a ruler nor cut a straight line with a guillotine or straight edge. The paper is always a bit wonky or I go off piste! So many ruined bits of paper or fabric!

Reverse into driveway from the right. Can do it from the left, no problem.

My family seem to be impressed by my skill of getting stains out of washing (they all know to ask nan when they have stained something 😁) and apparently I'm good at hoovering 😂

Urmstongran Mon 10-Jun-24 20:26:05

Clever clogs! 🤣

nogin Mon 10-Jun-24 20:19:08

Snap to all yours Urmstongran, except the times tables, I'm okay with those 🙂

nadateturbe Mon 10-Jun-24 20:17:01

Spuddy I use a herb chopper with a handle at each end to cut pizza. Works brilliantly.

He wore it and then asked if he could have a real one like the other children wore, he was five.

Haha! Love this comment dogsmother!

When dishing out a meal for more than just the 2 of us I can't remember whose plate is whose!

Been there! This really made me laugh eddiecat78!
🤣

I can't knit or sing. I'm not bothered about the knitting as I'm allergic to wool but I would love to sing. My mother had the most wonderful voice. I, on the other hand, have the worst imaginable.

dogsmother Mon 10-Jun-24 19:54:49

Knit. I try and try. I have needles and approximately thirty seven years ago I managed a small jumper for my son. He wore it and then asked if he could have a real one like the other children wore, he was five. Nowadays I still have ago and it’s worse than it was then.

I can’t remember bird songs, I can hear the different sounds but is it a robin, blackbird, meadow pipit? I have no idea however often my OH tells me - can manage the cuckoo!

CanadianGran Mon 10-Jun-24 17:55:31

LisaAn, I can't finger-whistle either! As a hockey mom, and now lacross and soccer gran, it should be a standard skill.

I've been doing yoga for years. but cannot so far master crow pose. I'm not giving up, though.

And sing in tune. I'm awful. You don't want me around your birthday cake!
