Things You Can't Do No Matter How Much You Try!

1-No matter how many times I've tried it over the years I just can't cut pizza!

Whether the pizza base is hard or soft I can't cut them with a knife of any sort and I can't use actual pizza cutters either! Burning my fingers on a bit of hot pizza crust trying to hold it while hacking away at the pizza and bits come flying off all over the place! In public eateries I have the embarrassment of getting my hubby to cut it for me! Thankfully he's a gentleman and I never have to ask him, he just does it!

At home I use scissors! Ahhh, so much easier and quicker! Slice away! Slice away!

2-I can't use manual tin openers! Partly as I'm left-handed and most are for ''righties'' and partly because I just ... can't... anyway so out comes my trusted electric opener! I bought it second-hand for £5.00 from a German market stall in Birmingham City Centre almost 30 years ago and while it's now old and rusted and I can't clean it properly, it still works like new!

3- And don't get me started on paint rollers, the sort with one handle on one side! In my left or right hand I find them impossible!

I can’t back into a parking spot. I drive around until I find a slot. The only time I did it was more than 50 years ago when I took my driving test. I hasten to say I have never had an accident !

Me too! The problem is how do you get to practice without the risk of damaging yours or someone else’s car!

Find an empty car park with marked bays (evenings are best for offices) and practice reversing into the bay between the lines.

I can’t understand Roman numbers, never have and still can’t

Click my fingers! Just can’t do it.

Crochet! I love knitting and I’m fairly good at it, but no matter how hard I try I just can’t master crochet! I’ve got books, looked at countless you tube clips and I had all the equipment as a present, but it just come out as a tangled mess. Think my hands still want to knit!

I had several attempts at driving lessons but I never learned to drive a car. I just found it too many things to concentrate on at the same time. I used to have a panic attack after every lesson. So I came to the conclusion that I would never be able to drive safely. I despise multi tasking.

When dishing out a meal for more than just the 2 of us I can't remember whose plate is whose!

I can‘t whistle on my fingers. Heaven knows I’ve tried

MissAdventure Mon 10-Jun-24 14:49:01

I can't open and "start" pump dispensers.

Can't drive, or sing.

hollysteers Mon 10-Jun-24 14:46:12

That should be dyscalculia

hollysteers Mon 10-Jun-24 14:45:05

Anything maths or number related. Maths at school was a nightmare. I did an informal test online and it seems I have discalculia.
I have to slowly study timetables, calendars etc to make sure I have things right.

I have always used kitchen scissors for pizza. It's easy. I can't wrap Christmas/birthday presents up without them looking like a dog's hind leg.

I’m another one who can’t draw, and I would love to be able to. I really mind.

I can’t ride a bike, but I don’t want to. Same applies to swimming. My parents gave me the chance to learn both, but I just said “No, thank you”.

Lovemylife Mon 10-Jun-24 13:58:09

Scissors are very underrated!

There are many things I can’t do, but mostly I would love to be able to sing. Not beautifully, just in tune.

Urmstongran Mon 10-Jun-24 13:51:30

Hang wallpaper.
Change a wheel on a car.
Recite all the times tables - I get a bit stuck on the 7’s and 8’s!

Urmstongran Mon 10-Jun-24 13:43:24

Draw
Sew - I can knit but don’t enjoy it.
Ride a bicycle with any degree of confidence.
Throw a ball in a direction I want it to land.
Sing in tune
Play an instrument
Do a sit up
Use eyelash curlers
Drive on motorways
Eat 5 a day fruit/veg (some days none, others only 2)
Speak a foreign language.
Eat shellfish - ugh! Just no.
Recognise birds or trees apart from some obvious ones
Believe in an afterlife, sadly.
Have a faith.

Pantglas2 Mon 10-Jun-24 13:23:55

I use ordinary strong kitchen scissors to cut pizza as I have limited room in my drawers (😉) for gadgets!

I can’t read a map unless I turn it the way I’m going which drives Mr PG mad 😡 - I can read upside down though which means I always make the right calls as navigator (and that makes him madder still 🤬!

I am very unco-ordinated and hopeless at reverse parking- I never did learn which way the wheels turn!

Wheniwasyourage Mon 10-Jun-24 13:18:46

Draw.

I can't do a cartwheel. Can't do a handstand or headstand either. For a couple of years Hubby and I have suspected I have ADHD, and I recently learned that a number of people who have ADHD also have dyspraxia - issues with gross and fine motor skills. Research has demonstrated that there are fewer neural connections in the cerebellum in people who have ADHD as compared to neurotypical people, and the cerebellum is the part of the brain that controls balance and coordination.

Sorry about the typo!

I saw some "pizza scissons" advertised the other day, they look perfect. i.ebayimg.com/images/g/GTgAAOSwGVFcB5mT/s-l1600.webp

I can’t sit on the floor, legs crossed then stand up without using my hands. The children think it’s great fun, but I want to tell them “use it or lose it”.

Dee1012 Mon 10-Jun-24 12:06:33

My son bought be Pizza Scissors for Xmas....excellent gadget, they even have a little guide attached!grin
