Good Morning Tuesday 11th June 2024

Good morning from South Lanarkshire with a beautiful (but I’m sure temporary) clear blue sky. Only 7 degrees though. I’m making an attempt to post early (for me) since I’ve found it difficult recently once the day has begun!

Another beautiful quilt grandMattie and what a good idea to start a group for singles, I hope you have success with it.

I’m off early to the dentist which of course now necessitates a bus journey. Non car life is definitively more complicated.

I don’t think I have mentioned my horrible experience a week last Saturday when a very good friend fell while three of us were out for lunch. A lot more horrible for her as she fractured her hip. She is a very strong lady, both physically and psychologically and we have no idea what caused it.
Anyway she ended up in Borders General Hospital where she has had excellent care and hopefully will get home today.
Fortunately her son and his family live across the road from her so she will have support while she recovers.
She lives in a small village with not the greatest transport system so please God her driving ability doesn’t take too long to return. Talk about ‘ turn on a sixpence’

I’ll try to post a picture of the lovely quilt done by a local quilter’s group which was hanging on the entrance to the hospital as my contribution to our talented friends!

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Really bad night, cramp and felt as if I was wired, no idea why. The heating has come on so must be chilly outside.
Off to a friends house this morning and U3A later so hoping I stay awake.

Good morning all, its only 7°C here in Glasgow. I was so cold last night I took a hot water bottle to bed.

Pants, I have always thought of having a go at making Bara Brith, DH loves that sort of thing.

That was a great bargain Mick. Much to her utter embarrassment, my DD crashed the till at Tesco the other day, she had so many digital vouchers. She does surveys and gets paid in vouchers.

What a talented and kind lady you are GM. I am so pleased to see how well your are settling in to your bew life.

The Virgin saga continued yesterday. I couldn't access both the broadband nor my mobile bills. Apparently my password and email address were wrong, despite using my Virgin email address and the new password, which Virgin generated for me on Sunday.🤬

Another hour lost out of my life! However, I am tenacious and eventually sorted it myself. After much faffing, I sussed out that to access my email account and the bill, I had to use the new Outlook email account, (absolutely nothing to do with Virgin) which I had made the previous day, despite wanting to access my Virgin email account, not Outlook.
Matters became even more confused, when I kept being addressed as Mr MD. 😤

A totally different scenario when I phoned the Diocesan IT dept. In less than five minutes, after listening to my tale of woe, a lovely young man got me back into my account.
He should apply for a job with Virgin Media. 😉

Today, we are at last going for a wee run down the coast to Baggs' neck of the woods. I am so looking forward to a tapas lunch.
It suits me because it is flat and my joints are so painful this morning. There us also an old fashioned harverdashery, where I will pick up a few items. It is like an Aladdin's cave. You would love it, GM.
However, I went downstairs to get pain killers and make a cuppa ( DH was too tardy 😉), my legs refused to take me back upstairs to bed! DH will need to be patient.

Good morning everybody from a dry but chilly (again) south Manchester. Alexa tells me there’s a 55% chance of rain today. Hey ho. We have no plans so I might as well clean the bathroom and run the mop over the laminate flooring before having a shower and washing my hair. L’il Miss is in school today. I asked her yesterday “are you looking forward to seeing all your friends after two weeks off?”
“Not really grandma, I like holidays best”. 🤣

Good morning all and it’s overcast and stilly chilly here in Essex.
Goodness it was cold yesterday. I needed a hat, gloves and warm coat when I walked the dog.

Chimes was fun and we actually rehearsed a couple of Christmas tunes for the concert ! 🎄🔔.
One of our ladies is starting a singles group (U3A) for the same purpose as you are GM . A lovely idea.

Today I will go to Play Reading. I did say I wouldn’t go anymore (a funny old group) 😴, but it’s my friend who runs it and I feel I need to support her. We’ll have lunch afterwards and then go to Bridge this afternoon.

Dh has had a nice win on his premium bonds. He hasn’t got many and has had them for years. I’ve fairly recently bought a ‘largish’ amount and only had a couple of small wins.. 💚. . Never mind… what’s his is mine and all that! 🥰

Roseandlilac I can’t believe you have to take down the summerhouse yourselves. That company really should be shown up! 😡. I really hope you find a good replacement. 🤞.

We have foxes and cubs under our shed. They are a nuisance WW2. They are doing a lot of damage . Little pooch goes mad every night chasing them and the noise they make at night is quite alarming.🦊. They leave mess everywhere too.

Good morning from an as yet sunny Suffolk but rain expected later. Yesterday was cold wet and grey after a bright start and little dog wouldn’t deign to go out til about 4pm. DH said he wished he had a bladder like hers!

I’m off out for coffee to meet another friend later. It’s funny how social events for me seem to come in waves. This week is a busy one….a concert in Norwich tomorrow and then lunch on Thursday and Friday with 2 different groups of friends.

I seem to have energy for socialising but not for the activities that some of you do regularly that are so impressive…like sewing,gardening etc.

Hope today is an easy one for all,especially those with worries or unhappiness.

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast.
Off soon to Ibiza with family. Quite a palaver getting away. DD and DGD staying here, we meet DS at airport as he is close to it. DD has an ear infection and antibiotics and I have paracetamol for my abscess which will be dealt with when I return in a week.

It will be nice to have some guaranteed sun and the temperatures don’t look too high for comfort.

Nice pics again. I’m sorry you are having such a bother with your summerhouse R&L and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from a dry NE, for now anyway. Forecast is for a high of 12 degrees, wow we are truly spoilt.
SIL is coming to take me shopping this morning and after lunch we will go to a shopping outlet where we will buy holiday clothes, hopefully. He is going home to Brussels on Thursday.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a Carlisle of sun and cloud.
My CH has been kicking in morning and night all week and my fleece throw has been in action in the evenings. The garden is looking lush though.
Speaking of gardens...this gardener is not bored by your doings WWM, only envious. My former garden was large, steep and with a stream at the bottom. I could indulge myself with any plant I fancied, especially trees and items like Gunnera. However, declining stamina was one reason for moving and the current garden is smaller and, most importantly, flat. I'm a plantswoman though and to make room for many of the plants I wanted, I had all the back lawn removed. Now it's trees and shrubs with a small gravel garden and fruit and veg area. All very low maintenance really and much more interesting to look at than just grass.

Yesterday's appointment in Newcastle had to be reluctantly cancelled. The recurring bug I have been fighting since returning from holiday bounced back over Sunday night giving me a swimmy head and affected ears, so much so that I lost my balance in the bathroom and had to hang on to something to stop me ending up on the floor. Hence, a train ride was definitely inadvisable! I was annoyed with my body all day.

Today, a bit of bathroom cleaning, vacuuming etc, trying to ignore the still dodgy ears. I might even attempt a bit of gardening.

A late good morning from a fresh S Hants, I’ve been finishing off yesterday’s voluntary work, a frustrating day. Quiz last night was a challenge, but it was good to get out and socialise.
Today I have the downstairs to clean, MrJ will be ironing and a school pickup for GCSE granddaughter, these exams go on a long time.

My French helper has finished mowing the grass with a borrowed machine since mine stopped working.

Good Morning from a chilly Co Armagh,
It was lovely and sunny when I sat down to read the posts , but it’s dark and windy now
Tomato plants and cucumbers are growing slowly in the greenhouse , I have seedlings given to me of tiny fruits which look like a cross between cucumber and melons , I’m told , they are due to be potted up , today might be the day to do it !
It’s tempting to just stay indoors and do some crochet !

Good morning from N Bucks where it is sunny but cool.
I have just had a strange “blast from the past”
I enjoy browsing on Rightmove (no intention of moving really just nosey and also daydreaming) and saw for sale in St Andrew’s the house which was my first digs (or “bunk” as we called it) 58 years ago!
I shared an attic bedroom which I have identified with difficulty, but realise I never ever saw the front of what is a very beautiful big house (£1,3m) as our door was round the back and up an outside flight of stairs.
Just weird to shut my eyes and try to remember it as it was!
Nobody left to tell, alas, my roommate Marion died many years ago, and DH gone now too of course.
Well that’s me done reminiscing, got to stir myself -onwards and upwards.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 12°C.

I had a fairly busy day yesterday with various admin things and a little more decluttering. There is a bagful of rubbish to go to the tip and a bagful of bric a brac to go to the charity shop. Today so far I have done a wash, some of which is now in the tumble dryer. No rain forecast but it feels damp. The burglar alarm service is booked in for this afternoon. MrB went to Lidl this morning, shopping is now all put away.

After all that I am now sitting down with a cup of tea to read all your news.

Safely ensconced in a very nice cottage with DD and. DSiL but our plans for today are scuppered by a puncture and we await the AA some time today. At least we are comfortable and have access to coffee while we wait!

Yesterday’s en route visit to Jane Austen’s house was excellent and if we manage to get to Selbourne today that will be good, but a book and observing the wild life will do fine.
