Welcome dear Kitcheners. Enjoy the buffet and make yourselves comfortable. You are all extra special peoples (as our grandson used to say).
and a huge hug.
Happy Birthday Annsixty and 'baby Soop too. I hope the sun shines for you both. Soop...such a glorious picture of you both. Your togetherness is so obvious and shines out. I'm glad you've got another visit to look forward to as well.
Yia...I hope Monday will bring a little light into your life again and a way forward will be found.
My prayers too for all who have sadness or worries just now.
Jax...I wouldn't ever be able to let Imogen near my cupboards...when we moved in 2021 I found a jar of 5 spice that expired in 2005. !!!.
Grandmarie...I hope your knee improves soon. It's 6 weeks today since my fall and I am luckily healing and can walk ok but still not too confident going downstairs properly ie a step on each alternate step so it's still toddler walking or a sort of little leap so my bad knee doesn't bend too far yet. It's quite a spectacle and the dogs give me a wide berth😂. Yesterday I changed my name on my bank account....the young customer advisor who looked about 12 must have thought I was mad...a nearly 70 year-old exclaiming how excited she was to be getting rid of her surname and changing it to her new double barrelled one. I did the same at the Medical Centre too. Little things ...as they say.
I have been put on the list to be offered any cancellation that might arise for the revision of my hip op. I really hope it happens when the weather is ok and I can get out into the garden at least.
LlfL. Wave as you pass Junction 26 on the M5....safe journey home. Glad you've had a good holiday. Did you go on the boat up river from Dartmouth?
We are off to the in-laws this weekend...to help with a building project and celebrate belated Bdays...wedding..etc and I had a mind that I fancied a pair of white cropped trousers to wear with slightly longer tops and went on a fruitless trek around town M and S...none to be seen...Crew Clothing...same and then as a last ditch I popped into Tu in Sainsbury's and lo and behold I found some. I bore a hanger with a Size 12 triumphantly into the changing room and contorted into them eventually and straightening up I caught sight of my rear view....Kitcheners...it was like looking at 2 ferrets fighting in a sack... when I eventually managed to extricate myself from them ( no mean feat) I looked at the label and found they were something called skinny fit!!!!!and a size 8. I felt distinctly queezy after 15 minutes of wriggling and jiggling to get into them and then panicking thinking I might need a pair of scissors to get out of them. Once home again and sitting in the early evening sunshine with a glass of Chenin...I vowed to stick to leggings when needed..... and in dark colours only!!
You lovely lot are the tops.
Eldest son's birthday tomorrow. He'll be sixty three. We have had a heart-warming chat with youngest son on this his fiftieth birthday. Tomorrow, they travel on the Eurostar en-route to Paris.
A wonderful day of tennis is promised tomorrow. Starting next week, I shall slip into the old routine. Exercise bike needs to be back in action. I shall also be spending more quality time in our kitchen.
Away to my bed. My fond thoughts are with you all.

Roseand lilac will your DH be wearing a life jacket?
It’s been dry all day here and quite mild, the garden thermometer said it was 24 degrees, but I think it’s lying! It certainly didn’t feel that warm. I managed to pull out some weeds, but not enough to make a difference.
brook glad your pond has stopped overflowing. I saw a heron in the garden yesterday morning, but I no longer have a pond so it soon flew away.
Thinking of doodle, baggs, urms & yia and anyone else facing difficult times.
RoseandLilac check DH’s life insurance policy 🚣♀️🤣
Evening! It’s been such a busy week with school runs, WI, a village event etc. I have a mass of ironing and the garden is getting out of hand. While waiting for my new knee, I have employed a gardener but he hasn’t come for 3 weeks. I may give him the sack …
Lovely photos soop. So glad you had a good time with your boy.
Thinking of all with problems and pain.
Oh Jax that’s so kind of you to think of me. I’m plodding on ok as best I can.
Soop such a lovely photo.
Well spotted Jax!
Thank you grannmarie it’s stayed dry all day and the sun even came out briefly. Quite a bit of gardening done although there’s so many weeds after this cold wet weather that I don’t know quite where to start! I don’t think the garden will dry out for ages yet Hope your knee is gradually getting a bit better
You are both very photogenic soop a glorious picture.
Bedding washed, dried beautifully, weeding done - well some of it, my daughter and Imogen called in, Fin at football training near us.
Mr J at the GP as I noticed last night a scar on his btm from a previous infection didn’t look right, appointment earlier, antibiotics, GP impressed I’d noticed.
What a game last night 🏴
I always have Doodle and Baggs in my thoughts of an evening and will be thinking of Urms Sunday, Yia Monday, difficult times for many kitcheners.
Fabulous photo soop, you both look so happy and well.
RoseandLilac, I feel for you! DH was a biker in his younger days and on occasion, brought his Honda into the kitchen!! It's very exasperating.
DS1, DDIL1, DGS1 and DGD have kayaks and paddle boards, my heart is in my mouth watching them in the water, West Coast of Scotland. They have wetsuits and life vests, thankfully.
Grandpup and I were out in the garden for a wee while until the rain came on. So I'm back on the sofa with my ice pack on my knee and she's cuddled in beside me. Very relaxing! DH and I are going to have chicken noodle soup for lunch.
Hope it stays dry for you, brook, so you can enjoy your lovely garden.
Oh goodness Rosesandlilac I think I’d be a bit annoyed too but hope he’s sensible on Sunday and doesn’t get too adventurous. Hope the gin helps 😀 Unfortunately I know nothing about kayaking but perhaps gillgrans DH can give him a few tips with 20 years experience!
I’m pleased to report it’s dry here today so a bit of gardening will be done later. It’s been an expensive morning for us with the car service and it needing a new tyre too
The pond seems to have stopped overflowing thanks redcar, we used to have fish but a greedy heron took care of that a few years back. We tried the usual deterrents but they were very determined and hungry so we just gave up in the end!
Hugs for those in need x
A lovely, happy photo, soop, thank you for sharing it with us.
RosesandLilac, hopefully the novelty of the new kayak will wear off!!
My DH hasn't been on his this year, partly due to his being nearly 80, also our water quality in the Norfolk "wash"/north sea is dubious, to say the least.
Although he has enjoyed paddling about for the past 20 years!
My warmest thoughts to you all. x
What wonderful photos soop 😍
Please send gin….. lots of gin….
DH is inflating his ruddy kayak in the living room. Again. I swear (frequently 🫢) it’s been inflated more times in here than he’s actually used it.
Why? Goodness only knows, it’s become an obsession with him, never mind that all he knows about kayaking is what he’s read on the internet, so of course he’s an expert.
Apparently his sister is going out with him in it on Sunday; two people in their mid-70’s, without a clue, off the south coast, no wet suits. What on earth could go wrong?
I have given up trying to get him to see sense, so have the DCs 🤷🏼♀️
Sorry for the rant 🫣, hugs to everyone who needs one x
Gorgeous photo Soop thanks for sharing, so pleased you had such lovely family time and a very Happy 50th Birthday to your DS! 🥂🎉🍷

Your visit from family has done you both a power of good.
Sleep well all dear kitcheners.
A late good evening to you lovely lot. I have tried to catch up with all your happenings since I was last with you in our kitchen.
I am sending special thoughts to hulahoop, * Mr Urms*, NannyG4 and Yia.
Grandmabatty Your energy is greatly admired. You must be turbo-charged.
Grannmarie Your supportive posts are wonderfully inclusive and uplifting.
Hello to dear annsixty.
Baggs I chuckled when I read the pigeon and letter story.
We have had the best time with youngest son (fifty tomorrow) and his lovely partner. We've talked to our heart's content, laughed and reflected on bygone times and shared several special treats. They were blest with days of wall to wall sunshine. In September, they are to return...let happiness be unconfined. The drive from London took almost twelve hours. Many photographs were taken on their phones and we'll have a whole album full by the weekend. I shall share one in particular of the Soops, it is going to Mr Soop's family in Western Australia.
I shall also share tonight's sunset.
I apologise if I've omitted to mention any of our Kitcheners who deserve a comforting hug. As the days go by, I should become more in tune with events in all your lives.
Now it is time to take myself to my bed. I shall read a chapter of Nevil Shute before I turn off the light.
My wish is for you all to enjoy a refreshing night's sleep.
