I’ve had wine(s)!. To celebrate. Himself won’t ever drink again. He’s not fussed. He joins in with an alcohol free bottle of lager. He’s just glad to (a) be here and (b) able to do what he can.

Funny how when we’re well we just do things, almost without thinking, as we understandably take life and living for granted.

Indeed we are! Flights booked for Málaga next Wednesday afternoon. It’s Himself’s favourite time of the year (school holidays, the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss). He wasn’t well enough to travel last August. Tonight? He’s counting the days.

‘Evening All’.

How delighted I am this evening to share our wonderful news. Professor Mansoor walked into the clinic in Christie's this afternoon with a huge smile and said ‘Good scan!’ My shoulders immediately dropped from beside my ears. 😊

He said the main tumour had shrunk again and also the liver mets too “although I’m not too concerned about them, it’s more about no growth of the primary cancer”.

“You look well” he said to Himself,
“you wouldn’t think you had cancer”.

We said that’s what our family and friends have been saying recently.

“And you will never get fed up of hearing that. Now, go and enjoy your summer, it’s well deserved.”

We plan to see you in 3 months’ time. If there are any concerns in the meantime, contact us. This is a fluid arrangement between us . Don’t sit on any symptoms. Give us a call. Other than that, we will see you in October for your next scan. Be sensible. Everything in moderation.”

Himself thanked him and his team of course. Shaking his hand as we left, my darling man said to him “this time last year there were times I wouldn’t have believed I’d still be here today”. The Prof smiled.

I said “we are so very grateful for all you have done for us”.
He replied “You don't need to be grateful - it’s our job”. Aw.

So, we left the clinic absolutely delighted, relieved and yes … grateful.
Lucky us.
Not everyone with cancer on treatment gets this fantastic chance to continue to enjoy this most wonderful life do they?

I’m on Cloud 9. It’s been an horrendously rocky road at times I can’t tell you. I disappeared sometimes because up things were so frightening.

Yet - here we are.
Life’s good indeed.

And I’m so very relieved to be back amongst you all for a while. Your kindnesses and support have been so uplifting. I’ve read your posts every day and been truly humbled by your concern.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Yia You have our support. My sister recently had part of her duodenum and her pancreas removed. She then had chemotherapy and is now recovering very well. She is twenty one years younger than I am and is now in her sixties.

A very warm welcome to our new Kitchener, wlu7. I am in my eighties. Once upon a time, I was as fit as a flea. This is no longer so. However, there is always something to be grateful for. Like many, many Granspals, I shall soldier on and trust that you will remain with us lot. Our kitchen is supportive and friendly and it has been so for a good many years.

The GC have just been collected.

I am now going into the garden, my lounger is half in and half out of the sun, a new book on my kindle, bliss 🙋‍♀️

Hello all and commiserations with the unwell and the fallers.
I did something unwittingly stupid yesterday, my GD’s friend has two black Labradors and she asked if we wanted to go to a dog show yesterday.
It was a fun event in aid of Manchester Dogs Home.
It was billed as 11am to 3pm.
We were there just after the start.
It was baking hot and there was no shade at all.
We stayed until just after 1 and then we went for a pub lunch , 5 adults and a baby.
The dogs were dropped off at home.
The young ones are all sun worshippers so we also ate loutside.
Within a short time of being home I started feeling burning arms and face.
I had no sun cream on, it is many years since I sat out in full sun, I just don’t do it.
I had no aftersun so just slathered myself in moisture cream.

This morning I am very red but no longer sore.
My nose is like a beacon, it has never been my smallest feature and now shows it.
I feel very foolish.
I have not set foot outside today and will not.
I have my cortisone injection in my knee tomorrow and will have to go out but that is all.
I hope all the sun lovers amongst you are lapping it up but please, please be careful, we are just not used to it.

Doodle thank you, it's still slightly painful but getting better.

Soop I hope you can find some respite from restless leg syndrome. It’s not easy. When I was younger and going to dinner parties I used to end up walking round the table as I couldn’t sit still and joining in the chat but the legs were always jumping. Going to the cinema or theatre means picking an aisle seat to accommodate the legs. It doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy life and outings just means I have to be wary where I sit !
You seem to have a good handle on life in general so you will overcome this hurdle
