Good Morning Monday 17th June 2024

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle. I believe it's due to be the usual sun and showers today. The sky before 5am was a peculiar blood red, reflecting off the light cloud, shepherd's warning....Yesterday ended badly weatherwise, it poured with rain from late afternoon onwards.

I went out briefly into the garden in the afternoon to put more shredded bark down and to put in more support for my peas, which are doing rather well, unlike the runner beans.
Today I'll do the laundry and continue with my list of little jobs which I actually got started on yesterday. Then there's quite a bit of online admin to do.

Glad to see MissOops is on the mend after a scary time.
Something similar once happened to an acquaintance whilst we were on a trekking holiday....got to looking as though he was at death's door but after a few hours on a drip, miraculously restored to perky good health! It was bacterial dysentery caught from drinking bad water.

Good morning all and it’s sunny here in essex, warmer today I hope.

We wandered around my db’s huge garden yesterday. It really is too much for them now but they do very well with the help of a gardener. It’s so beautiful, peaceful but off the beaten track. I don’t know how much longer they can stay there 😢.

Your afternoon at Old Leigh sounds lovely GG. Perhaps we could meet there next time for our catch-up with Sar.

Oops what a worrying time youve e had with MissOops. Hope she fully recovers now. Was it food poisoning?

Marydoll I know that feeling of clinging on to the edge of the bed. They’re all arms and legs aren’t they ☺️. I remember eldest gd holding my hand tightly until she slipped off to sleep. ❤️.
She was in A and E for 12 hours with chest pains and breathlessness, sick and dizzy. and eventually was sent home at 2am. Her ECG and bloods were ok but she has to have a heart monitor on for 2 weeks and was told to have that time off work. She’s only been there 3 months and is very anxious about it all.

Lots of stress and illness about at the moment. 🙏

A late good morning from Malta where it is due to reach 37°C today. A tad too warm for June but I love the cool early mornings and seeing blue skies and sunshine definitely lifts my mood.

The boys have kept me busy this morning (mostly reading to them) so I haven’t had a chance to read all the posts yet.

So glad Miss Oops has at last received the appropriate treatment. Hope she will feel stronger by the day.

Good morning from a warm sunny Suffolk. What a change from the recent damp dull ones.

DH and I will probably go to the beach with the little dog for her walk this morning and then have coffee and cake no doubt at the cafe there.

It is the one which has excellent fish and chips. The cafe where Ginster and I have met doesn’t open on Monday and Tuesday.

Good to hear Oop that the NHS provided the service yesterday we need when ill and we should be able to get. Sadly some hope it seems in several parts of the country.

I hope all can enjoy some warmth and sun today.

Today we’ve got some workmen’s round, the roof needs a good clean as we’ve got quite a bit of moss growing on it so hoping it looks much better later.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s forecast to rain later, again.
Back to normal, after the builders, so coffee with a friend this morning, then I need a few cards - I was told yesterday that DH’s cousin had died earlier this month, but the family hadn’t let extended family know.
I’ll call for some plants on the way home and if I can dodge the showers, I’ll plant them later.
A walk with Little Dog tonight, then I’ll take him home to DD2.
Scary time Oops - the NHS at its best - hope it’s done the trick.

Good morning from a bright Cambridgeshire morning. I am hoping for a day of gardening until school pick up at 3. It will then be Monday mayhem with dance classes and gym classes with dinner at ours before delivery home around 7. I’m looking forward to it though gets hectic but enjoyable to be with them.

MD I laughed reading your post my 18 year old granddaughter was like a windmill too when small and she had masses of curly hair that flapped everywhere. It is tiring but those days quickly pass and they grow up so quickly. You are amazing when struggling with your health.

Do hope miss oops is finally on the mend what an awful time she has had and a worry for you all.

I’m just awaiting a call from DD2 who will come off the nightshift shortly for an update on how her night at the local hospital went. She has a cold so hopefully will dose up and sleep well this morning. She said they all have this cold at work it is doing the rounds so guessing me and DH won’t escape it!!

Yesterday had its up and down moments so hoping today will be better one. Sometimes our expectations for these special days ie Father’s Day fall flat . However today is another day. Wishing a peaceful happy day to all.

Mr C enjoyed his roast yesterday and we managed a windy visit to a sea front, not our town as it would have been far too busy. A very enjoyable, unexpected , visit from our elder granddaughter later in the day. She can talk for the world and it was good to hear about her plans.

Off along two motorways today. Needed a dry day as there is much sorting to do of my parents grave. It floods after heavy rain in spite of new drainage, makes me very sad as, and I know this is daft, my Mum hated being wet.

Phew oops, a scary time, I’m so pleased your daughter is recovering.

With thoughts to all finding life hard going. Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Morning all, I can see blue sky but it is only 13° here in S E Essex.

We had a lovely afternoon with youngest three AC and families in Old Leigh, the sun shine and we had a table on the pub’s terrace overlooking the sea, unfortunately the tide was out.

This morning I am off to the gym, have t been for nearly three weeks so I will be achey tomorrow, then I must attack the holiday ironing mountain.

Sorry MissOops had to get so poorly before she had treatment, fingers crossed she is on the mend.

Good morning from a gloriously sunny hillside in south Glos, perhaps I won’t need to wear my winter clothes today!
Yesterday I baked and cooked for several hours then sat and enjoyed watching the birds on my feeders, so many this year- great spotted woodpeckers, blue and great tits, sparrows, starlings and goldfinches. We filling the feeders every day.
Two dog walks yesterday and the same today 😊

I'll get DS's bedding on the line, set the robot vacuum going in the bedrooms and pop out for a few bits. The garden needs a bit of tidying too as rain is forecast again tomorrow.

Glad to hear Miss Oops is on the mend. That must have been scary.

Our cleaning lady is coming today and I’ll do a Waitrose shop.

OH has ordered another beehive. His bait hive in the garden attracted a swarm yesterday. It was amazing to watch. In a day or two when they’ve settled down he will take them to where his bees are and introduce them to the new hive. The possibility of being stung is quite high!

Good morning from Glasgow, where I have no idea of the weather. I have been sleeping beside a windmill called Dollie, all night and am afraid to move, in case I waken her.

Her parents had told her she was a big girl now and she was to let gran sleep in her own bed. ☹
However, when it came to bed time, she discovered that she had left her beloved Pooh at home in error and she was sobbing her heart out.
Nothing would soothe her, then I remembered that we had another Pooh somewhere in a bag of toys in the garage. After much rummaging, in the dark, in my pyjamas, I eventually found him.

I don't think Dollie was quite convinced when I said that this (rather well fed Pooh) was her ( rather thin and worn) Pooh's twin brother. 😉
I said I would lie with her until she fell asleep, but she wouldn't let me out of her sight. The death of my son's friend, whom she called, Auntie M, has affected her very badly?😢
I have been clinging on to the edge of the bed all night! How can such a wee girl take up so much space.🤣

What a dreadful few days you have all had, Oops, I hope things will improve from now on. Poor Miss Oops has certainly been through the mill.

Our concert last night was even better than anticipated. There were three soloists with amazing voices and the acoustics in the Abbey greatly enhanced the performance.
However, we were unable to go for a meal afterwards with DS and DIL, because Babydoll has been unwell all weekend 😪 and they wanted home.
We ended up in McDonald's with Dollie it suited me, because I was feeling the effects of my treatment and had felt nauseous all day. I was so relieved to get back home.

I need to get up and make pancakes for Dollie's breakfast and get her ready for school. I'm hoping I may get in to the garden later, unless something gets in the way.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather grey dreary South Yorkshire. After a bit of a mixed day yesterday, late afternoon and evening were warm and sunny. The gardener is coming this afternoon to clear out a large bed at the front of the house. It’s a mess of old plants that have outgrown their usefulness. I want to plant heathers in it instead. It frustrates me hugely that I can’t dig any longer. Other than that it’s kitchen cleaning for me.
Good news about your DD Oops. Hope she’s on the mend.

Good morning from another hot day in Cornwall. A lovely evening spent with my son watching the football. He'd printed a belated birthday card (snippet attached) drawn by my 14-year-old grandson, who tactfully left out my crutches but if you look closely you'll see that I'm leaning slightly on a table. Very sweet of him as he knows how I feel about my crutches.

Today - all week in fact - I must go on my travels because there is building work starting downstairs and my flat will be intolerable noisewise. I'll pack a flask and food and a blanket and begin with Perranporth today.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where, like yesterday, it’s dry for the moment.

Daft dug and I got drenched on our walk yesterday afternoon in a monsoon like shower.

DD and one of her girls came over and treated us to lunch out yesterday, they were delighted with all the bracelets I’d made for them.

I’ve had to change my volunteering day for the foreseeable as I’m starting a strength and balance class this morning. The physio I saw a few weeks ago referred me and a place has opened up at my local leisure centre.
