Coloured toilet paper

I buy the unbleached bamboo toilet roll from Cheeky Panda. Very soft and no bleach or dyes.

I use Who Gives a Crap, which has very colourful wrapping paper - all eco friendly.

What was the point of that awful loo roll with one shiny side? It was useless. My senior school had outside toilets in a Victorian block with a half roof, no heating, and often the water in the pans was frozen. Needless to say the loo paper on offer was Izal or Bronco. I visited once as a newly started eleven year old, and never used them again - wonderful bladder control in those days, I could spend from 8.15 to 4.30 not even thinking about a visit.

I was discussing loo paper with my MIL (as one does) and I told her I always tried to buy recycled paper. She looked horrified and said "You mean it has already been used?"

I found out recently that there’s a Poo Museum in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. I should imagine that’s a hit with children!

Hallogirl my aunty also worked at the Izal factory in the same town. I was born there (not in the Izal factory of course!)

I have seen brown toilet paper rolls, said to be recycled but surely it has been dyed to be harmonious therefore defeats the idea of natural. In any case I don’t fancy the colour brown.

As a child we also had newspaper squares in our outside loo and then advanced to the dreaded Izal. Is it still available I wonder?

That poo paper might be a charity fundraiser as it’s Bowelbabe month in memory of the lovely Deboroh James who died last year from bowel cancer and fundraised so much up to her death.
She was a beautiful and very brave young woman.

A friend used to make up a "hamper " with lots of small gifts. One was a loo roll with penguins on , The GGC thought it was hilarious . I don't know which of them took it home.

At my friend's flat one day I asked to use her loo .
She smiled in a rather strange way .
I thought that she had a musical toilet roll or there would be some prank .
As I lowered myself onto the seat in a very cramped cubicle and looked up - I realised that the neighbours in the flat opposite had a glorious view of anyone using the loo .
It was a last minute addition to their flat and I doubt if the landlord had planning permission nor plans to add it onto the balcony !

It wasn't in the UK .

Esmay - that would be very odd indeed!
The hotel we stayed in was lovely but the bathroom meant that if you needed the toilet in the night you were anxious about putting the light on as you'd wake up whoever you were sharing the room with.
Not very sensible in my opinion.... but certainly not actually open-plan!

I've had a few nightmares in which the loo is entirely glass walled and people can see you on it .
This loo isn't even in a house - it's in a department store !

Esmay - I was thinking bathrooms and toilets open plan I haven't seen those - but did stay in a hotel once where the enormous bathroom joined the bedroom with a huge sliding glass door!

Open plan downstairs area - kitchen , hall and reception areas not the upstairs !

I watched a very late night programme in which some people were saying that it was great at first , but now it wasn't working out with teenage children .
I dozed off so I didn't watch the entire programme .

Open plan has never appealed to me .
I don't like cooking smells -I cook fish a lot .
And I like to shut the door on a messy kitchen until I can clean it .
I might want to watch a particular programme nor talk to guests - so it can wait !

I remember Bronco loo paper from when I was a child. We used to find it very amusing that there was also TV programme called Bronco on at the time. (Young children can be very silly)

I loved the smell of Izal , but using it was strange . Wasn't it waterproof ?!

We had lurid pink and blue loo paper , which classhed nicely with the ill matched turquoise bathroom suite .
Moved house and we had a non matching blue loo and basin .
The bath was original .But no worries coloured suites are back in at a price and so will coloured loo rolls at a premium !
Watched a design programme recently and people are beginning to find open plan designs inconvenient and some are putting in sliding doors !

Just another gimmick to get people to part with their money. It uses more resources to print it, the same as fragranced paper. What's wrong with 'bog standard'. Excuse the pun.

Oh yes Bronco. Used as tracing paper and for bottoms. Sixty years ago and more.
Soft paper all the way since then until a 2 night winter stay in a small hotel in small French village. I could have cried when I saw a French version of Bronco and had an upset stomach the first night. Well I did cry. Since then I always take a flattened soft roll when we used to stay away. Just in case.

I think your little granddaughter will love that as encouragement out of nappies Parsley3.

In a mining community, there were miners lamps, kept lit in the outside loo (netty) to stop the pipes freezing!

We had "Bronco", just like tracing paper. Horrible stuff on the bottom - but us girls had wonderful times making those cutout snowflake things and using it to trace stuff!
