I have to admit I don’t like seagulls after watching tiny ducklings being picked off one by one at Lynmouth. It was horrific and nothing anyone tried worked. They’re really brutal birds.

Well they are but having watched a baby seagull struggling to get back in his nest at the top of a steep roof in a seaside town, while group of people watching were cheering when he succeeded, including us, we softened towards them.

Then sat at a seafront cafe nervously watching as bigger gulls divebombed tables next to us which had leftover food on them!

He’s so cute in his wee house! ❤️. He’s definitely becoming seagull-shaped instead of floofball-shaped. I’m pleased to see a post about Cedric as the seagulls in town today were making a racket and I wondered how he was doing.

I hope Cedric stays safe until he finally leaves his 'nest'.

The big gulls have been swooping on Cedric and Monday and Tuesday he stopped eating much at all i was very worried however today he’s really perked up and was at my back door this morning waiting for his tuna and grapes at 6.30 He is so funny I love watching his little ways He eats then goes to his water and washes his beak has a drink then back for some more food.
After I d left this morning I heard some almighty loud squawks
Thinking the adults were back I ran back to find him with his big wings out, flapping, whilst jumping up and down
Babies usually fly by the end of July start of august so he’s practising I d love to get a photo of him jumping up and down

Oh, that must have been awful, Bluebell, I’m so sorry you saw that.

Cedric is growing like a weed! He’s looking less like a dinosaur and more like a bird now.

And I'm shouting at the TV "Stop that! Don't you realise you're endangered?"

I wonder why they do that Bluebelle?
It sounds horrible.

I know that male animals will kill the cubs/offspring of another male then mate with the mother.

Here’s my handsome chick

( ve just witnessed a horrendous attack by an adult seagull on a baby she/he has pecked it to death within minutes throwing it around like a rag doll There was nothing I could do it was in a garden opposite me I saw it from my bedroom window it’s a long garden backing from another street it has a locked gate I could do nothing to save it I imagine it’s another fledgling fell from the roof into another birds territory
Oh it was horrible it was screaming and crying out and I could do nothing to save it )

I think you’re right MissA they do post them down 🤣🤣 I think it’s lucky I was in that day because otherwise he could have been in the dark tunnel all day I don’t go in my bedroom that much in the daytime but luckily I did that day and heard him squeaking behind the fireplaces trapdoor.
Unfortunately because I had no choice but feed him (the parents didn’t) he is now more bonded with me than them The parents get very irate when I feed him and shout and scream from the flat roof outside my garden although I keep telling them I m helping, they try to muscle in and get the food before him so I have to ride shot gun and just stand by him while he cleans up his dish of food, once that’s gone the parents hot foot it off to find somewhere else to scavenge. He really squeaks loudly when they are around
I know I ve interfered with nature but I couldn’t leave him to die

I'd be very nervous of having a seagull and possibly his irate relatives watching me.

My friend fed his rescued gull for 22 YEARS. They can live a long time if you can keep predators away.
