Advice needed please regarding the answering and posting of comments.

After participating on another SM site (mature people, not mass quick fire stuff)

Where they have a "like" button, it's dreadful.

It ends up like vying for popularity to get lots of likes. And I suspect people not saying things they might..... So some people just "like" nearly everyones post so's not to appear mean...and others give up....

It may take a bit longer on GN but we can do a thumbs up or a clap emoji or just say thank you for your post.

Thanks. I have never known how to quote and generally just refer to a specific post.

If Gransnet HQ are reading, could we please have a "thanks" button. Sometimes you just want to acknowledge someone rather than quote them. It is a feature on Mumsnet.

You can also ( if you only want to quote a small sentence ) just highlight it with blackening the letters

For me, on the mobile site, the quote function is bottom right (where the three dots appear) in the post you want to quote.

I would like to have some way of 'liking' etc. a post so the poster can see the reaction. It's a bit of a faff to use the quote function then wonder if the person you are quoting sees your response to it.

Me too, I still cannot get my head around how to use smilies. I tried but nothing happened.

I've just tried it Baggs and you're right, the quote command is not highlighted when you are trying to copy a previously copied post!

I honestly do not know how you can use your phone to post things, you must have very dainty fingers. Mine are like sausages and I keep pressing the wrong keys so I use my laptop.

*Baggs*, interestingly, I can’t do that. When I click on the dots in a post that already has a quote embedded, the quote option is not available. It’s quite irritating.

I don't think I've ever managed to show both the post I'm replying to and the original post.

I don't think I've ever seen that done either.

But you can create a sort of thread within a thread. See my next post.

For me, on the mobile site, the quote function is bottom right (where the three dots appear) in the post you want to quote.

At the top of their post on the far right is says quote, press on that and it will appear on your feed, then you comment underneath.
