Is this latest portrait an improvement on the one of Charles?

It's certainly in the same vein, but this time it's a bit wishy for me. Its obviously the artist's style, and the likeness is excellent, but the whole concept of one dominant colour doesn't do it for me.
What do you think?

I’m assuming that’s David Attenborough? A good likeness but it looks slightly out of proportion to me and I don’t like the palette. Is it by the same artist?

Sorry to be contrary but I could tell who it is straight away and I like it .... because it is different.
I thought the similar one of King Charles was awful BTW shock

I like it, but then I don’t think a painted portrait should look like a photo. DA likes it apparently.

Not keen on it- prefer the Charles one but in real life it is probably a lot better and more nuanced.

An artist friend painted a better one of Attenborough in her teens.

David Attenborough I am assuming.
I don't like it because it seems wishy-washy and very undefined and if it is Attenborough, not instantly recognisable.

I am fascinated by portraits. They are so different from photos.

I had portrait drawings of 2 of my DC by a local artist so they posed dutifully for about half an hour. They both look serious and not particularly how I see/saw them but my DS looks exactly like his gt uncle, who died before he was born. This gave me a shiver. She had seen something in him which I hadn't noticed.

I quite like it, but don't love it. Not overly keen on these colour backgrounds, like the red one of the King, and this green one of David.
Big fan of both sitters though.
