Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and there are storm clouds gathering. Still some blue skies peeking through. Mizuna all the best for tomorrow. GrandMattie I'm very fond of Bakewell tarts. It sounds like you are having a good time with your son. baubles safe journey to Ireland.
Yesterday I visited another care home for mum and this one was so much better than the first one. It wasn't as fancy but there were small personal touches which pleased me. It also is in my village which would make visiting simple. So fingers crossed. I need to find one more and let social work know of my three choices. So I'll be back on the phone today. I bumped into the boys and their grandad on the way back from nursery and that was a nice meeting.
Today will be phonecalls and some pottering. I'll get washing done but I'm not hopeful about hanging it out. Tuba and pasta bake for dinner later. Have a good day all.

Happy Birthday Mr MD.

Good morning from a sunny but,I think, somewhat cooler Suffolk.

Yesterday’s keep fit class was a gentle one so I’m hoping for the same for today’s stretch class. After that I’ll probably spend the rest of the day indoors til it cools down in the afternoon when we sit in the summerhouse.

I’m feeling virtuous as I did the ironing yesterday.

Hope Mizuna your op goes well and you are home in a couple of days. It has been a long wait for you which, according to your posts, you’ve borne with fortitude and good humour.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning from a sunny bit of South Lanarkshire. I’ve had a series of early starts this week which have precluded posting although I have caught up reading later in the day.

This morning is a neighbour’s funeral, he had been in a care home for about a year after being looked after by his wife at home for years. She’s a really nice woman and is suffering the usual confused feelings just now.

After I come home I’m scheduled to visit a friend this afternoon, whose son died unexpectedly a few weeks ago at the age of 59. These things are important of course but I will be glad to get to this evening.

Your holiday sounds delightful grandMattie,, how good to be sharing it with ‘your boy’.

Ash the photograph of your lovely French home made me really nostalgic. It brought back lovely memories of family holidays, such a precious time.

Our weather seems to be heading from poor to rotten over the next few days so enjoy the heat everyone. I hope your garden room is ready for enjoying Roses, mine is my salvation!

Wishing everyone a good day.

Marydoll Thu 27-Jun-24 07:57:16

I omitted to send Mizuna my best wishes for tomorrow.

Sar53 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:56:18

Good morning from a very warm Essex coast. The air-conditioning is on already, I'm so glad we had it installed.
DH's op went well yesterday but took a lot longer than planned. I expected a phone call about midday but it was 3 before he rang, I was a bundle of nerves.
He had to lie flat on his back for a number of hours so it was gone 8 before I could go and collect him. Luckily very little traffic at that time in the evening.
A few days of taking it easy and no lifting, I shall 'police' him.
Shopping for me this morning and maybe a gentle stroll later.
Ash I have been given Omeprazole to take, I hope it works.
Have a pleasant Thursday everyone xx

Taichinan Thu 27-Jun-24 07:56:10

You'll brighten the place up Mizuna! And good luck x
Good morning Mick and all from a very 'fresh' Angus coast where the sun is shining again. Yesterday was misty and dreich. It was too warm for it to be a haar, so it must have been steam!
Glad you're enjoying your holiday grandmattie - especially the company of your boy.
Today for me is Tai chi and shopping again followed by a recoup of energy (aka dozing 😉) in the afternoon.
Have a good day everyone and I hope the poorlies are well on the way to much needed recovery, and safe journeys to the travellers.

Marydoll Thu 27-Jun-24 07:56:03

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 15°C. We have thunderstorms forecast.

It is DH's birthday today, however, he doesn't want to do anything, just chill at home, which suits me. I badly need a day of resting, but didn't want to say anything and spoil his day.
DD and SIL will pop in later and I'm sure Dollie will video call from Portugal.

Safe journey, Baubles, I hope the crossing isn't too choppy. Have a wonderful time, surrounded by your family.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

brook2704 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:50:41

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the sun has returned but it looks a bit windy - must get a wash load on and out to dry
I hope the ferry crossing is calm baubles safe travels and enjoy your family holiday!
A much quieter day today, lots to keep me busy in the garden
Hoping all goes ok tomorrow mizuna - good for you on your outfit!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

luluaugust Thu 27-Jun-24 07:46:05

Good luck for tomorrow Mizuna

harrigran Thu 27-Jun-24 07:42:42

Good morning from an overcast NE where we can expect 19 degrees today.
Lunch with sister and BIL was most enjoyable, an inn with views out over the countryside. They told me about the near accident they had the day before when a car failed to give way and sped across the road in front of them and crashed through a fence. The car was a write off, fire service attended and sorted spilled fuel but despite several phone calls police did not turn up.

I haven't heard from SIL but I believe he is back in the UK so will probably turn up to take me shopping this morning.

Nice young man came to the door yesterday, window cleaning company, I signed up. I have been without a window cleaner since lockdown, mine failed to reappear after. I do hope he just decided to retire and was not a victim of covid.

Have a good day everyone.

monk08 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:39:51

Good morning all from a bit cooler Black country.
Lovely time at Arley arboretum yesterday the walk from the station was downhill to the river across a footbridge then up a very steep hill think Harlech.
Today I need to go into town a jacket I ordered is waiting for me, we have friends coming later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Mizuna Thu 27-Jun-24 07:31:43

Good morning from a slightly cooler Cornwall, phew. One day to go to my op! Yippee! Pottering today to make sure my flat is ready for when I get back from hospital, hopefully Sunday but Monday at the latest. Also must get some cash, something I never use now, in case I need my neighbour to buy me anything during the first few days at home.

I don't do nighties or slippers and always end up in the somewhat posh hospital in an odd array of gear, this time an orange summer dress and pink Crocs. 😊

luluaugust Thu 27-Jun-24 07:31:29

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Off to art this morning, haven’t got there lately so will be good to catch up with everyone. I think a dress I ordered from Marks should be delivered today no idea if it will fit.
Best wishes to all

Grammaretto Thu 27-Jun-24 07:30:38

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. Breezy and bright. The forecast was wrong yesterday. It didn't rain once so I had to carry my coat around very warm Glasgow.
DGS and I had a wonderful time.
We got to the Kelvingrove Museum just in time for the organ recital, enjoyed some paintings and set off by bus but mainly foot to explore parts of the city including finding murals and a community garden.
Today will be more restful I hope.
The roofers may come back to finish.

What a novel idea to choose an author by initials LLFL did you see what I did there🤣

Those Bakewell pies are yummy gMattie aren't they.

I hope everyone has a good day especially those struggling with illness or heat.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:29:03

Good morning from a sunny South Downs. Forecast cooler today, but still a pleasant 21c.

DH has his 6 month heart check later this afternoon. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Last time he tried catching the bus but the first two didn’t turn up and by the time he eventually got to the city centre he had only 2 minutes to go and another and different bus trip. So he caught a cab - £9 for a few minutes rid! And late. So we are back to using the car.

This morning I shall potter in the garden in a hopefully more pleasant heat.

Mackeral to pan fry with salad today.

Enjoy the summer all

Peace and harmony

Georgesgran Thu 27-Jun-24 07:20:53

Good morning from Durham. Cool and windy here. I have blinds in my bedroom and they’ve been banging and clashing with the windows open.
I’m having a new gas boiler fitted today, although as yet, there’s no word of a time.
Grey it’s recommended to run your aircon for 10 minutes once a week, even in Winter, to maintain the gas pressure. I couldn’t face being without it, especially in long delays.
Hoping to hear MissOops and Gingster’s DD are feeling better.
Best wishes to all. X

BigMamma Thu 27-Jun-24 06:53:55

Good morning from West Yorkshire, it started off sunny at 6 am and now it looks a bit grey but it is very warm. Going to get some washing on after breakfast.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 27-Jun-24 06:52:15

Morning all from a cooler West Oxfordshire.

It is Book Group today. We meet in the village cafe over lunch. Our theme this month is an author with the same initials as us. I will also talk about Pepys Diaries which I’ve finally finished. I read the complete diaries an hour or so each evening over several months. Fascinating. A friend recommended Claire Tomalin’s biography of Pepys, which I’m now reading. Then I’ll be all Pepys’d out!

Have a good day everyone, especially those with difficulties. Glad to hear that GM is having a great time with her son.

Here is the dress I had altered. It is much more decorous!

karmalady Thu 27-Jun-24 06:50:19

Good morning from s somerset, a nice cooler day is expected today

I did manage to finish putting storage into my small airing cupboard. These new build cupboards are above the stairwell and are not heated by a tank, mine has a plug in heater that I never use plus a light fitting. Everything has gone back in and will, I think, make it easier to find specific items

I could not sleep at first, the bedroom was at 26, I kept thinking how to do a very heavy mattress re-arranging. I could wait for help but I knew I could find a way around it, two extremely heavy hypnos mattresses. My mind was working overtime re the logistics so I got up and did it. It only took me 30 minutes but the satisfaction was huge and I have added to my muscle strength

I want to finish prepping the spare bedroom today, I need it next week and that is where I dump stuff

Have a good day

grandMattie Thu 27-Jun-24 06:37:53

Book is by Ann Pratchett 🤨

Puss Thu 27-Jun-24 06:34:13

Good morning everyone from Belfast.
Rain forecast for today.
Went into Newownards yesterday got paint for some stone boots that where worse from wear.
Washed curtains 2 pairs so have lots of ironing to do!!!!!
Passport needs renewed. Leaving that to DH.
No holidays on the horizon yet.
Have a great day everyone.

RosesandLilac Thu 27-Jun-24 06:24:52

Good morning from a cooler hillside in south Glos, it’s cloudy here at the moment.
Off to the hairdressers this morning, then I will potter around in the garden. I have two planters to fill and lots of deadheading to catch up with.
I’m glad it’s cooler; the heat doesn’t agree with me. I’m so glad I have air conditioning in my car, at least it makes driving more enjoyable in hot weather.
What is it you don’t like about it Greyduster?
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Ashcombe Thu 27-Jun-24 06:12:17

Good morning from another hot morning in the Sarthe where a heat haze can be seen over the neighbouring fields.

What a relief that MissOops seems to have turned a corner at last! I hope she continues to recover - sleep is a great healer.
Safe travels to baubles and other holidaymakers, including grandMattie, who I’m pleased to see is having a well deserved enjoyable break by the sound of it.

Sar53: those throat cameras are amazing: so tiny - I hardly had time to register what to expect before the procedure was over! As a result, I’m on a daily dose of Lanzaprole which has improved matters.

Yesterday, we were pleased to find a flat pack cupboard to buy from Lidl which DH spent time constructing for me to use in our downstairs bedroom so I don’t have to use the stairs so often to reach the wardrobe upstairs. My arthritic knee will be grateful!

Happy holidays for those who are away and best wishes to all. 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it is quite cloudy at the moment.

Good to hear that you’re feeling better Mick.

I’ve a few bits and pieces to add to my suitcase before we head out in a couple of hours. We will collect two of DD’s children then we’ll all head down the coast to get the ferry over to Larne. The weather forecast yesterday mentioned the possibility of gales coming in from the west!

Wishing everyone the best day possible.
