I know ones is as old as one feels and I am fitter and slimmer now than ten years ago, but deep down I can’t help thinking being nearly 70 is old. I know I am lucky lots of out friends did not make this age. This is not a pity fest. I just find it difficult to take in. I remember my mum at 70 and she seemed very old and set in her ways. I try to be open to new ideas and dress in clothes she would not have considered, jeans etc. I have arthritis aches and early bladder issues, but overall am fit.lucky me I guess!

Thanks all you lovely gransnetters! I think I have been ruminating/worrying this week as my DH had a TIA his second last week, so we have both been considering diet etc. he has high cholsterol , but is very active and does a lot of voluntary work in the community.

In the meantime my wonderful adult son is taking me on a boat ride as a birthday outing with my scrumptious grandchildren one girl, one boy. And it is sunny!

That cheered me up no end Sallywally1 (not) 😁

Happy birthday anyway. Life begins at 70 so they say.
My dearest friend didn't reach that age so make the most of it.

Happy birthday Sallywally. I hope it's really lovely in every way. You seem so young to me. I'm sixteen years older than you. So enjoy your youth ... smile

I will be 69 in a few days time as well. Just glad to be still here to be honest, every day is a bonus.

Its a funny old thing this aging lark. I was so preoccupied with my parents ( who were well and truely old) I didn't notice I was getting old too.
It seems kind of sudden somehow.

Hope you have a nice day Sally.

Three score and ten as they used to say.

I had my 70th birthday a couple of weeks ago and felt very
disturbed to be entering my 70's. It feels like being 69 was
so young. I'm still not accustomed to it.
Have a good Birthday anyhow and lets both of us hope that
time will soften the blow.

Happy birthday Sallywally. Hope you have a lovely day.🥳

I turn 68 on Monday and I know what you mean. I don’t feel old at all but when I look in the mirror I think ‘who is that old biddy looking at me’!

Of course I’m glad to still be here, my sister didn’t make it to her 55th and my DH didn’t make his 70th, but I won’t be celebrating. Just another day looking after my dear little twin grandsons and enjoying every minute with them.😍

Happy birthday for tomorrow and enjoy the boat ride with the family. I am the same age as you, and am also wondering how can I be that old? Just be grateful and have a great year. Start planning what to do for your 70th!

I’ll be 70 in a couple of weeks, and it seemed so old, but reading some of the more positive comments on here I feel a bit better! 😀 I’ll try to take the advice given!

I have just turned 69, relatively healthy, still working, but I’ve found I’ve started feel something like envy of my children and grandchildren, so much life to live, so many adventures.
I don’t feel old, but am very much aware that the best is undoubtedly behind me.
