A younger sister - I'd have given up the idea of a pony for a younger sister!

This reminds of what my older brother, age two and a half at the time, apparently said when he was told he had a new little sister. "Can I have a hedgehog instead?"
I get the feeling sometimes that he still feels that way about me.

A bike, but never got one. My mother's excuse was that my father, who was an ambulance driver, had seen so many head injuries, he wouldn't allow it.

I accepted that excuse, until one Christmas, my brother (the favourite) got a bike. I was devastated.

The only thing I can remember was that my best friend Margaret had a Raleigh Tiger tricycle which I coveted madly, because it had white wheels and a proper boot which carried loads, but my bike only had a little basket on the front which would fit one doll.

Ahhh.. that's really sweet (and not out of the realms of possibility)

DGS, aged about 3, and animal mad. Standing at a field gate looking at the sheep and saying in a voice full of longing. 'I wish I could have a pet sheep'

Piano lessons.

I wanted to ride the BIG carousel horses at the fairground, but was never allowed. Mum thought they were dangerous. Hounslow Heath, near where we used to live, used to have a marvellous fair within a good walking distance. Lights, smells, music and excitement.
I also wanted roller skates, but when I got them, they were somehow manufactured to go slower than normal.
Such disappointment still 75 years later.

I remember asking my dad if I could have a dolphin! I must have been about 6 (where the hell did I think it would live?)

Curlywhirly I loved my Tressy but would have liked extra clothes for her

On my Christmas list one year I asked for a tapestry skirt and a pair of hoes with a Louis heel. Goodness now why I wanted those. Needless to say they didn't materialise under he Christmas tree.

I wanted a scooter, the old fashioned wooden kind you propelled with one foot. My request fell on deaf ears. It was probably not affordable.

So as a good actholic girl I prayed to God that I could have a scooter in heaven when I died. I also prayed, that although I might be quite old when I died, could I still want a scooter. I hated the idea of getting to heaven, getting the scooter only to find that like most adults I had outgrown my desire for childish things.

Not showing off but I had a scooter like that. We weren't well off but I think Father Christmas probably brought it or my birthday money went towards it (I had lots of aunties and uncles).

A Tressy doll (her hair grows) I had very curly hair and it was always kept short. I desperately always wanted that doll because of the hair. But I never did get one it was considered too expensive. Cheap imitation dolls just didn't do I wanted the real thing!

My brother had one. It’s the only soft toy I remember him having.

I wanted an ostrich feather fan as carried by the girls on the Black and White Minstrel Show .Instead my dad obtained a daggy feather boa from a friend who did AmDram

I always wanted a charm bracelet as my best friend had one, it would’ve been daft as I spent my leisure time in the woods, making dens and up trees.

Certainly not Sky TV!

Oh, I had one, eazybee. I loved him, he had grey rabbit fur hair. He sat with Teddy and the dolls in my "school". He was a good listener 😁
