Can you spot the difference? Isn't it wonderful what a good iron and presentation will do?
I have bought two items from NFYM and I am delighted with them (and man am I fussy) Obviously, a Chinese Wholesale/Manufacturer branching out.

Sorry to say, but anyone wishing to buy 100% British is on a hiding to nothing these days.
Like it or lump it, India and China at least contribute to most goods we buy.
Hence our clean co2 record. Only possible because we exported our manufacturing industries.

Thank you for posting Boz it's always nice to look at pretty things outside of our normal range.

Because you mentioned above that you have an interest in fashion. Do you follow any particular blogger/channel on youtube?

I follow some who knit or crochet their own designs. It's lovely to see other peoples creations.

You have to be careful where you shop and where the raw materials come from. Not everything is made abroad, or with materials from abroad. You might have to pay more but isn’t it better to buy one quality British item than several cheap foreign ones?

Jane - thank you . I'll have a look .
I could make some .
They are really easy - I don't need a pattern .
Someone has stolen the nice hareems that I made !

JaneJudge Thu 04-Jul-24 15:18:43

I have always loved craft work; I knitted and sewed in my youth and love to learn the construction of garments.
No I don't follow the blogs - can you recommend any?
I just love oriental clothes; kimonos and jackets and anything that is easy-fitting colourful and warm! A lightly padded jacket is of great comfort to an old woman and if it is in a nice uplifting colour, so much the better.

I thought the jacket was quite pricey.Hardly a bargain.

Auntieflo Thu 04-Jul-24 12:52:39

OK for some, but not for me.

They both look as though they have been made from the bags of offcuts on The Great British Sewing Bee.

Who owns NFYM?
The other is a British company.

Good on you. smile

I've no idea of their longevity. The two pieces I have bought looked nicer and better made than the poor photos. However, perhaps best to avoid something that needs a lot of washing such as cheesecloth trousers. As in everything in life, be selective.
My point of interest, having once been in the "rag trade", is the huge mark-up by Plumo on several items from this trader. I like Plumo and realise they have to make a profit. May I suggest looking at Plumo to see what products from NFYM (not for your mother!) they sre selling to gauge the quality you want.
Please excuse my enthusiasm - I have a passion for and make an art of decking myself out to face the world in the few years I have left to me.

I think I got the Chinese bit wrong; they are made in Nepal and I have a soft spot for their quilted cotton jackets having visited the Country a couple of time and bought nice stuff, including cashmere jumpers, there.
They do make more conservative stuff. You can get a nice plain quilted navy jacket. Bang on for an English summer.

I’ll take a look at their site thanks OP.

I'm too short and fat for it, plus I have riculously skinny legs for someone so "stout" smile

😂 My Mum sys the same, she says she’s turning into a spider.

I love the hippy dippy look and I excitedly bought five pairs of hareem pants from Amazon because they had glowing recommendations .
Silly me !
And never again will I buy unrecognisable brands from Amazon .
Their other stuff is good and I have no complaints . I order frequently from them and usually use them to send gifts as it is so convenient .
But these hareem pants were the worst items of clothing that I've bought .
On the first wearing , despite selecting a roomy size the seams split wide open in the crutch rendering them embarrassing as I was walking outside .
Then , when I washed each pair an unbelievable amount of dye came out as if it had not been fixed .
They can be sent back to Thailand and there is no guarantee of a refund .I certainly didn't want replacements with the same product .
I just checked and they are still being sold .
I wonder about the validity of the recommendations .

MissAdventure Thu 04-Jul-24 10:59:52

Well that's an awful lot of things, but more power to her and anyone else who manages it.

Skydancer Thu 04-Jul-24 10:57:32

My friend witnessed a protest against human rights in China. A young Chinese man said to her they were trying to create awareness of what goes on and said the one thing she could do is not buy Chinese goods.

JaneJudge Thu 04-Jul-24 10:49:14

It's a nice jacket but I think I'd look ridiculous in it smile

MissAdventure Thu 04-Jul-24 10:46:52

Oh I don't know.
I will have to find out.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 04-Jul-24 10:45:23

Don’t they use donkeys to transport loads in Nepal?

MissAdventure Thu 04-Jul-24 10:42:24

A lot of Nepalese clothing seems to be fair trade friendly, as far as I know (bearing in mind I know nothing) smile

I like it smile

Again, as discussed before, a lot of clothes from some of the top brands have none too brilliant ratings as being environmentally ethical.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 04-Jul-24 10:04:49

👏👏👏

pascal30 Thu 04-Jul-24 10:00:14

I wouldn't wear that.. horrible
