Angela Rayner ghastly trouser suit

OMG the Deputy PM looked a fright walking along Downing Street this afternoon.

Showwaddywaddy called and want their suit back!! 🤣

She looks like she either has no bra on or a badly fitting one. Her boobs are almost down to the waistband of her trousers.

I have never expected to have my posts noticed. But I can tell when people are being studiously ignored. I bet you can too.

Baggs Mon 08-Jul-24 19:08:41

But as anything relevant to the subject of the thread is just going to be talked across,

You cannot tell if this will happen. Of course it could if nobody found whatever thing "relevant to the subject" interesting enough to follow up.

But that would be taking it personally. I've had countless posts "talked across" or ignored, as have many other GNers I'm sure. It means nothing except that one is part of a very large crowd and can't expect to be or have one's posts noticed all the time.

Carla Denyer wore a green trouser suit today. Is that worth another 34 pages?

Of course she did. That's her compulsory uniform!

Oreo Mon 08-Jul-24 19:07:55

Possibly one page

I liked Laura Kuensberg’s pale pink trouser suit btw, and wish it was a colour I could wear, I’d look like a washed out blancmange.

Maggiemaybe Mon 08-Jul-24 19:00:26

No, it’s not just you, Doodledog. But as anything relevant to the subject of the thread is just going to be talked across, I’ll find something else to do.

Oreo Mon 08-Jul-24 18:57:30

Who’s telling you what to post Doodledog? Tell me and I can biff them for you😄
Seriously, as others have said already, anyone can post what they like within GN rules on here. So, posts saying how much the trouser suit is disliked, or liked ( not many of those mind you) or how nobody should say a critical word against AR for any reason, or pics of lovely green dresses or general chat around fashion, bring it all on.😃

Doodledog Mon 08-Jul-24 18:49:01

As for the kittens reference as someone new to Gransnet at that time, perhaps you didn't understand what was happening Doodledog.
No, I probably didn't, as I said, I was finding my way around. I still think that deciding to deliberately change the subject, chat across people and ignore posts that don't join in the chat has Mean Girls vibes. It did then, and it does now. If that's just me, then fine - I've said my piece, which is all I wanted to do. I'm not looking for a fight, I just resent being told what to post.

It's often a peace-keeping tactic. I agree. Very much so.
Perhaps frivolity isn't always appreciated, though most of this is still on topic - green clothing, nail polish etc.
There have also been lots of compliments on politicians and newsreaders choices of attire.

Callistemon213 Mon 08-Jul-24 18:29:08

LauraNorderr 👍

Callistemon213 Mon 08-Jul-24 18:27:45

Quite, Baggs

Any posts against guidelines may be reported if anyone wishes to do that but threads do meander and there is only so much can be said about The Wrong Trousers. I think we've moved on and so, probably, has Ms Rayner as she has far more important things on her mind.

I don’t see that anyone has shut down the conversation. Anyone is free to say whatever they feel.
I imagine that some, me included, thought that a bit of a chat took the heat out of things.
No bullying intended as far as I can see.
I honestly didn’t think that just chatting inanely would be construed as a form of bullying.
So to get back to topic , I think Angela Rayner looked fine in her outfit. I do not think she looked like a tart.
I’m not happy that we now have a Labour government but will reserve judgement until we see what they’re going to do.
I concede that the Conservatives have behaved abysmally and deserved their trouncing.

Baggs Mon 08-Jul-24 18:18:16

It is not bullying to cause a thread to diverge nor to join in its divergence when it has diverged. It happens all the time on GN when a multitide of opinions have already been posted. This happens in face to face conversations as well. It's often a peace-keeping tactic.

If anyone wants to still talk about AR's green trouser suit and the effect it had on them they can.

Honestly, I don't know if that's what I'm referring to. As I said, I was new, and learning my way around, and from that perspective I found that when 'Some Posters'* got sick of a thread they just talked about kittens or something to drown out others who wanted to have a say, maybe because they'd been out all day when the kitten talkers had had their own. It nearly drove me away.

It’s happening on this thread and is pretty pathetic tbh. I’m surprised at some of the contributors.

Tickingbird it is pathetic and also childish and TBH a form of bullying. But hey ho, am I bovered? 🤣🤣

I have explained that I asked for my thread to be closed but they can’t do that. The Mods choose to keep it!

Many of these comments should now be in Chat or Style & Beauty because I was very soon told that my post should have been in Chat and not Politics.

Quite astonishing criticism Primrose!

This thread is now a chat about clothes styles.

It didn't start well but the tone in the first instance was set by the OP.

rafichagran Mon 08-Jul-24 17:59:16

Yes Doodledog I agree, very bad mannered. For me now, the thread has gone on too long, but other posters may want to post because they have just come to the thread and maybe they have been away and not seen it until now, It's not up to me to derail it.

Agreed. I'm reading through it now as we've just got back from a weekend away, and it's gone from bad to worse.

It's rude and yes - a form of bullying. Who gets to decide when everything's been said? There are plenty of threads on the go if people aren't interested in this one, but shutting people down like that after saying your own piece is so arrogant.

I love your maxi dresses GG.
Must take a look at Boden.
Do you have good upper arms, wear a light cardy or wrap or do you just not give a tinkers cuss?

They are ok, better with a tan, I am what I am 🤷‍♀️

Callistemon213 Mon 08-Jul-24 14:55:52

JaneJudge

they are lovely dresses, I love green
My lounge is mainly green and it makes me really happy smile

I do like green but should not have listened to that fortune teller ☹

Can't post a picture of my new dress as I haven't bought one for ??? years. I'm thinking of of buying some nice warm trousers and cashmere jumpers for this summer. Plus a new waterproof.

Oreo Mon 08-Jul-24 14:46:23

The navy one would really suit me ( can I have it?)😁

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jul-24 14:44:23

I only own three dresses these days. A bit dull but here goes
