A reason (if you need one) to be proud of the U.K.

No hanging chads, no violence outside Parliament as one party says it was cheated and defrauded out of a successful outcome, no rioting in the streets, no control of which candidates stood by a controlling un elected higher power (Iran), no rioting in the streets.

Just gracious speeches from the winner and loser saying generous things about their opponents, while all those election officials stand down the paraphenalia of plooing booths and counts, losing candidates return home and have a good night's sleep, winners stay up parting.

If there is one thing we can still do well, it is the peaceful transfer of power. Pity the rest of the world cannot do the same.

The main thing is that we voted. Even if you do not like the end result it is important that we all use our votes. There were some seats which had to be recounted a couple of times and |I hope that it showed people how important their single vote is. As I always say, if you vote you are entitled to moan if things are not sorted out. If you didnt vote you have no right to complain about anything. Taking part is our right and our responsibility and so well done to all who did vote. Of course I did vote as I know the majority of my friends did too. I rang my son and asked him if he had voted and he had so that pleased me. Lets hope that we might now get a government that is trying to work together with people and not put one group against another and try the blame game. Oh well we might at least get someone who is not lying and making laws that he does not adhere to himself like Johnson.

Disgraceful scenes from what I saw.

I’m proud to live in a country where every citizen regardless of gender, colour, creed can vote if they choose.
Where we can protest peacefully.
Where we can criticise without fear.
Where I still have reason to believe that we have a mostly tolerant society without hatred and/or extremism.

The problem in some areas is that some candidates fought on one issue and one issue only - the situation in Gaza and it was the supporters of that candidate in Birmingham Yardley who were causing so much trouble.

Labour lost four? seats to pro-Palestinian candidates and their majority was reduced in others because of this one issue.

British politics encompasses far more than just that one issue.

Womens rights, gay rights, freedom of speech (but needs protecting closely as there has been some challenge to that).
