That was a thoughtful gesture, and obviously well received - they must be kind children. Restores faith. I was also pleased to see the Princess of Wales talking to the players at Wimbledon yesterday, and introducing Charlotte, who stood beside her and shook hands with everyone.

No he definitely said there will not be any photos of their children, they like to protect them from public life.The kids did ask for a dog as their one stipulation of being moved to downing st. But of course i am sure they will still keep Jo-Jo their cat.Not sure how all that will go down with Larry though.

Inevitably, all our children had to go to boarding school to allow them some sort of continuity of education

As a matter of interest, not ONE of them wished to join the forces or even, for the boys, the combined cadet force

Elder daughter said that she never felt she belonged anywhere......but they all seem to have turned out to be balanced and well qualified settling in different countries with partners of different nationalities

As for me, I gave up a promising academic career in order that my husband might serve the queen

The family were involved in 3 coups d'état. I had a rifle held to my head by a grinning African at a checkpoint leading to our accommodation. Our 2 year old son in the back seat of the car shrieked with laughter and joy, wetting himself at the activity. I had to think quickly 'Hey, what you doing man? (at the guard who was shaking with power and laughter ) You remember me! we have come through here every day for the past year
My family is now spread worldwide. I see them rarely but this state of affairs started off in their childhood

One of our offspring works for a multi-national company and has pointed out to me that the majority of staff that she takes on had had a similar peripatetic background

- that they are reluctant to move to Downing Street
- that as a caring father he is worried about the impact the move might have on his children
- that his children want a dog
- that they enjoy family time on Friday evenings
- that the Hunt children left his children a sweet letter
No one has mentioned his children's school, their clothes, or what they eat for breakfast etc. Those sort of things should definitely not be talked about in the case of politicians, I agree. I think the press is fairly well-behaved on that issue.

Why would any of this be interesting? His children are not part of the government. I just don't get it on a forum where people like to hide their own identities and those of their families.

It is not quite as bad as it used to be. On my 21st birthday, my father having just left the army, I reckoned that I had had a different permanent home for every year of my life, in 6 different countries and 4 different regions of England.

My husband went to at least 14 different schools for much the same reason.

I’m going to say it- Cossy your joke was in very poor taste, particularly at the moment.

My father was a police officer in a large county force. We moved with every promotion. I attended 5 primary schools and 3 high schools. We children learned to appear to be confident, sailing along the surface in every new playground. In reality we were paddling like mad to keep afloat.
None of us have subjected our children to disrupted education and attachments.

I just don't know how he gets left out of such important occasions. Those who are responsible, will regret it, their names will be mud once the memoirs are out, I think it's a foregone conclusion the fur will fly! Personally I think arch nemesis Palmerston, who might well be retired, still has his hands paws all over the CATalogue of any bad publicity Larry receives.

I hope all our politicians and their families remain safe throughout this next Parliament. These are dangerous times. Two MPs murdered recently. Female MPs regularly hassled and threatened. The Gaza situation.

I second that, whichever political persuasion they are, no one ever deserves to be murdered or threatened or harassed for doing their job.

Lovely thing for the Hunt children to do, after all it has been their home for a short while. Nice of Starmer to publicly acknowledge.

I believe Starmer is “bribing” his children with a new puppy.

I very much doubt we will see photos of his children too often, if at all, he’s fiercely protective of them.

The Starmers are quite rightly fiercely protective of their children, their mother is Jewish which sadly puts them at risk.

I hope their tenure at No11 is a safe and happy one.
