Pyjamas as day wear?

What about nighties? The ones I saw in MandS looked pretty enough to be worn as dresses.
But generally, I think that unless you're ill, it's lazy not to put on clothes in the morning.

One of my daughters (31) is nearly always in pjs, she dropped one of my granddaughter's up for lunch today. My granddaughter (12) ran in , and said Mummy won't come in , she's wearing pjs. It was 1pm

It's fine to do whatever suits you best.

I try not to be judgemental - not always easy. I wouldn't go out in my pj's, but don't object to others.
Having said that, I do wear a nightie not pj's, and have been known to open the front door in my dressing gown. Is that OK?

I thought would never go out in my pjs . . . until, going to collect DH I forgot I had navy blue pj bottoms on instead of joggers. We shopped in Booths on the way back.
I hope no one on GN noticed. 🤭

I can remember women wearing curlers and headscarves on a friday, from when I was a child.
I suppose they were going out that night.

Whip the curlers out, a bit of back combing, and Bob's your uncle!

I think the curlers are if they're going to say a wedding or a night out. Often they're put in at the salon, then all you have to do is take them out later. Well that's what they did when I lived in TOWIE land!

I've seen the curlers look here a few times.
The girls look beautiful, so I assume it's a fashion, a headscarf and curlers, with glam make up.

I saw a woman last week in Duty free at Gatwick with a full head of curlers, although she had on a Tracksuit not PJ's. Now that's a new one on me..

Wearers of Dryrobes certainly aren't wearing them to show they are rich!! My DGC and family all wear them, sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. They take them on holiday with them. There's nothing like a DryRobe after a dip in the sea, or even after a visit to the pool. They are practical and effective.

If I dared to walk around town in my nightwear I would probably be picked up by the police and referred to Social services.

In France, in the spa towns, loads of people wander round the streets in their pyjamas... they're lucky enough to be sent for cures as part of their health service..

I dont possess any pajamas. I wear a kaftan most of the time. Have done for years.

I can remember once going to the door to accept a parcel and the driver said "Sorry did I get you out of bed" I told him that this is a kaftan but as I sleep commando style I dont get out of bed to answer the door. Then people would really be shocked.

These days I keep baggy old joggers and the least tea-splashed top veryclose to hand if If I’m summoned from the shower!

I've only once seen pyjamas out and about.
It was about 3am in Tesco and a harassed looking woman rushed in as I was checking out.

I assumed it was some sort of minor emergency - baby milk, pain killers, nappies???

Obviously more common than I thought! She may have been grocery shopping!

I do not possess pyjamas and nowadays I do not like to answer the door wearing my night attire.

Living in London anything goes but to date I have not seen pyjamas worn in a supermarket- my local is Wiatrose!

I think that those setting the fashion for wearing pyjamas out and about are not wearing M&S pjs 😄

They will be high end silk outfits “styled” like pyjamas.

Remember there was a similar fashion trend in the 1930s

Well, no, I don't think jim-jams are at all OK for out and about wear. Try turning up for a job interview in them!
Besides, the examples in the post are very stylish on proffessional models but.......on the average short and dumpy Brit without access to a team of fashion gurus and hair/makeup stylists? Noooooooo!

To detour a little, I have noticed a trend for people to wear Dry Robes, designed to wear over swimwear after swimming/ paddle boarding/ surfing as coats. Perhaps the wearer is letting everyone know that they are super active people ...

and rich.
