Pyjamas as day wear?

To detour a little, I have noticed a trend for people to wear Dry Robes, designed to wear over swimwear after swimming/ paddle boarding/ surfing as coats. Perhaps the wearer is letting everyone know that they are super active people ...

I've thought about this long and hard overnight, and come up with two possible answers!

1. She was sleep walking.

2. She was about to enter the sea and do that exercise we did as kids, where you had to dive into the water, grab a brick in her case a pebble, then take your pyjama bottoms off and inflate them into a float.

I think that those setting the fashion for wearing pyjamas out and about are not wearing M&S pjs 😄

They will be high end silk outfits “styled” like pyjamas.

Remember there was a similar fashion trend in the 1930s

Well, no, I don't think jim-jams are at all OK for out and about wear. Try turning up for a job interview in them!
Besides, the examples in the post are very stylish on proffessional models but.......on the average short and dumpy Brit without access to a team of fashion gurus and hair/makeup stylists? Noooooooo!

I think the pictures you posted are very definitely not pyjamas. They are jump suits. My daughter has some.
I love wearing my pyjamas because they are so comfortable, but I wouldn’t dream of going out in them. I wear them to bed.

I often nip outside and water the garden in pyjama bottoms and baggy T shirt. My garden is not overlooked so I can get away with it.

I wouldn’t dream of going out in them though.

I’ve seen people in pyjama type clothes in supermarkets and once I literally bumped into two women who were shopping in their dressing gowns, but this afternoon I was actually deeply surprised to see a couple walking hand in hand along the high street and the woman was wearing pyjamas. Proper, unmistakable, pyjamas. For a day out at the seaside. They were very nice, (quite similar to the photo) and she was decently covered up, but I’m still bemused.

I call it slovenly, if they think they look great then they are mistaken they look lazy. Too many of them are at McDonalds in their pyjamas and dressing gowns and to be honest, you only have to look at them to know what kind of a home they must live in.

Yep shorts and shirt 2 piece sets have become a thing this season for both men and women. ….and the same in sleepwear only it’ll be silky perhaps.

I rather like the summer day-wear if you’ve got the legs and maybe a tan and that includes the men as well.

I honestly think it makes a pleasant change from quasi sports wear or endless lounge joggers with logos etc.

I do not possess pyjamas and nowadays I do not like to answer the door wearing my night attire.

Living in London anything goes but to date I have not seen pyjamas worn in a supermarket- my local is Wiatrose!

It was definitely pyjamas and not a jumpsuit. It was not only my head that turned as the couple walked along the street, but the woman was quite obviously wearing her pyjamas as a fashion statement and her partner was well dressed.

This is nice. After Church, in summer, I'd love to wear soft lounge wear in the garden.

Ten years ago as a politics student my son was invited to spend a day at a broadsheet newspaper in London .
He was amazed to see the media sub-editor arrive at the morning editorial meeting in his PJs and slippers. As nobody batted an eyelid he presumed that it must have been the norm.

Funnily enough saw a couple women come out of Tesco other day, they both were wearing pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers lol….when I heard their accent I think they were of a culture who usually wears night wear out and about.
