I had this problem in Boots, what annoyed me was that Caneston was on the shelf to buy but the cheaper own make was behind the pharmacy counter where you had to ask and be refused if over 60.

I bought a product in B&Q using the self checkout last week, and a screen notice came up to call for an assistant.

When she came, she clicked on something and it said
"Does the customer look over 18?"

She looked me up and down very carefully. I was thrilled as I am 76.

My son was with me and he thought it was hilarious. He is also over 18.

There is an age limit on a few medications I was refused Chloraphenical eye drops at Boots because I was ‘too old’ went straight over to Superdrug and was served them without an ask but had already decided to knock 20 years off if they asked

The paracetamol is the daftest thing ever Calandergirl you can get enough to kill you in a couple of pharmacies or going round twice and putting a hat on the second time or having a friend with you it’s totally ridiculous

It’s also how you are limited to how many paracetamol you can buy at a time.

If I chose, I could buy at about half a dozen shops in about half an hour.

I feel a dress and a bonnet is the correct attire for a decent, impactful flounce.

Why can't they just give you the damned stuff with a standard warning "if symptoms persist, consult your doctor"?

As a generalisation, people above whatever-the-age-limit is are usually well-versed in various ailments like thrush, UTIs, etc. and are sensible about infections and the like.

Great that pharmacists can now prescribe for simple ailments - but obviously if you're over a certain age, it's no help at all so we're back to the 8am-'phone-on-the-day', econsult (time consuming) or trying to get non-existent appointments.

Ageism is what I would call it. Here they would sue- we are like the USA that way.

When I worked in pharmacies for many years Boots in included, it is because the symptoms can be for those of diabetes, same with treatments for cystitis,we always had to check,but we all know we can say we are 59 and buy them, and also buy from supermarkets.
Having worked for Boots in one role or another, I always think that they train the staff to be professional,and that given that some staff really can be quite snotty and superior when you speak to them.
I hope I never came across like that

I have had mismatched shoes, inside out clothes, display of rear end etc. When my son was between 2 and 3, we went to the restroom in a department store. Afterward he told me several times that people were looking at me. I didn't pay much attention. Rejoining my friend and her same-age daughter I learned my wool dress was tucked into my panty hose. My friend and I fell all about laughing our heads off while the kids regarded us as solemnly as little judges! My son finally said 'I told you!'

Sago I don't blame you for flouncing out - there are too many "jobsworths" about now, and too many daft rules. I hope the treatment works soon, Thrush is horrible (I used to get it all the time when I was on The Pill before the kids were born). Funny about your clothes

Canastan creams and pessaries are stocked on the normal shelves in my local Sainsbury's, shelves don't ask your age 😀

Worth knowing that thrush if left can become candida sepsis, this can attack your heart and lungs and eventually kill.

I buy the generic version, clotrimazole half the price of canasten and tell them it’s for under the boobs. 😜
