Good Morning Saturday 20th July 2024

Good morning all and it’s warm but rather dull here at the Suffolk seaside. A man shouting for his dog on the beach woke me early! 🙄.

Yesterday was lovely, a little breeze and not too hot. We’ll get some strimming done today as it’s a bit cooler.

Our odd job man will come and do a few small jobs for us.

We’ll meet up with our pals this evening for a carvery in the local pub. It’s always a good one. The camper van couple will be going home after that. The others are staying in til Monday.

Bellasnanna I hope your travelling goes well and you have a lovely time in Naples. How exciting.

Greyduster Guinea pigs are the sweetest creatures. My dgd’s have them and they are funny to watch. They have 8 of them.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, should stay dry all day.

Planning on walking to the garden centre this morning, as I have an order (shoes) to pick up at one of the shopping outlets there. Then I shall have a coffee and a browse, but not buying anything else as I shall only have to carry it back home.

No plans for the rest of the day. Steak to get out of the freezer for dinner tonight.

This morning I have a drive over the forest to DD3's house to feed the cat as their friend who usually does it is going away. Poor planning.

This afternoon we have to collect DGS3 and DGD1 from the station. We are going out for a meal and they are staying the night.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and very cloudy. It doesn't augur well for the day. Ash good news about your car and it's mot. Mine passed too! I was thoroughly delighted because I'm not good at looking after it. I did hoover it in the hope it would look cared for. However, it passed so a much needed service has been booked for a couple of weeks. GrandMattie I can't abide rudeness. I hope it didn't get to you. Bellasnana have a lovely and much needed(I'm sure) break.
Yesterday I pottered about the house and did a little desultory weeding. As I said, I hoovered the car and also the house. Being a little bungalow, it doesn't take long. My neighbour handed in home grown potatoes and I had some last night. They were delicious!
Today I'll have to go to Aldi for food. It'll be a cheaper week than normal because I don't have the boys next week. Dd is taking a holiday from work. Apart from Aldi, I'll strip the bed. The weather doesn't look promising, so it might have to be tumble dried. I might bake. The bloomer was successful so I fancy making another. I have peanut butter cookies to make for dgs1 as he was asking for them.
I had an anxious day yesterday, worrying about the car so it's a relief today. The cloud over my head has disappeared. The only irritating thing at the moment is the proliferation of fruit flies. I'm catching loads in ramekins filled with cider vinegar. The gizmo Marydoll suggested last year has disappeared, so ramekins will do until I find it. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a beautiful sunny day here on the Essex coast.
Yesterday was very hot and we got all the last minute jobs finished on the boat ready to depart at lunchtime today.
We will be travelling up the Thames stopping where we want. I'd like to go to Windsor but apart from that I'll take each day as it comes.
I'm a little nervous but looking forward to seeing the non tidal Thames and all it has to offer.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there is light cloud. It was far too hot for me yesterday. DD and the menfolk came over for a meal which everyone enjoyed. I gave GS some lessons in how to use my bridge camera which he is borrowing to take to Canada next week, and he gave me some lessons in Guinea pig wrangling! It’s going to be a fun fortnight for poor Cocoa and me🙄! I’m sure we’ll get used to each other!
DS is coming down to spend the day with me and is taking me to lunch at the local pub. DiL is singing with her choir today so I shall have him to myself.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire! It’s lovely to be home.

The outage shenanigans didn’t cause too much hassle yesterday. Apparently Finnair don’t use that particular system. We were only held up by about an hour. It was quite a shock to be confronted by 30 degree heat in London after spending a few days in 23/24 degree heat!

I must pop and see the picture framer today. I have a rather bizarre print from the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition to frame. OH doesn’t like it so it will hang in my bedroom.

OH extracted 70 jars worth of honey from his bee hives while I was away. It is currently stored in two large tubs. Sometime this weekend I will help transfer it all to some jars. He isn’t sure that he has enough. There is still quite a lot of honey left from last time!

Morning from a cooler S Hants, 28 yesterday, but the evening breeze was perfect as I sat outside our local chatting. MrJ is 62 today and in Belfast for the annual family golf day, he may get 🎂, fortunately his flight was fine.

Good morning all, it’s another scorcher in Malta today.

grandMattie I know what you mean about rude people. DH and I owned and ran a restaurant for thirty years. Most of our customers were absolutely lovely, but the few rude ones really could ruin your day. I’m sorry you had to experience that, you of all people don’t deserve it.

I’m all ready for the off, just having a coffee before ordering the taxi. I’ve been awake since silly o’clock with a nervous stomach but I think I’m ok now!🤞

The computer breakdown yesterday caused no end of disruption to flights so I thought ‘trust my luck’ but I’ve checked and it seems flights are leaving on time this morning.
It’s only a short hop to Naples from here so I will likely spend longer in the airport than in the air!

I’ve cleaned through and it was so much quicker and easier without dear old Buzz (my dog) following my every move! It does feel strange without him though. Hope he’s enjoying his holiday at the kennels. He’s been before and is well cared for.

I will wish you all a lovely day and thoughts for those who are finding the days difficult. ☀️

Good morning! We had a beautiful day yesterday down here on the south coast. The breeze was just right and not a cloud in the sky. Makes my old heart and bones feel young again. Although the climb back up the hill from the beach is always a puff but good for my pedometer! We are due storms today so won't bother to do any gardening. Have a great weekend everyone.

DS was badly affected. He was due to fly from Limoges to Trieste. His flight was cancelled so he’s spending 24 hours on a coach! It’s an important visit as he’s hoping to apply for a job there for the next academic year. I goodness knows how he’ll get home on Tuesday; DD has organised a family break including him and DGS before for India he leaves the following Monday.

Good morning from a damp Torbay after a very hot and sunny day yesterday!

I’m pleased to say that my car passed its MOT yesterday. The proprietor was worried that parts on order for other jobs he had booked in would not arrive in time due to the IT issues. His card machine worked fine as did the hole in the wall at Tesco.

That sounds like an idyllic setting for enjoying a Chardonnay, Pantglas2. DH’s tipple of choice!

The sound, (or lack) of my car indicators is how I know I’ve forgotten to insert my hearing aids, RosesandLilac!

Good morning from an already warm south Glos hillside, a cloudy start to Saturday.
DS, DDIL and DGCs are coming for the weekend, so looking forward to seeing them all. We’re going out for lunch which will be a real treat, we rarely eat out.
Yesterday I went into town early and collected my new hearing aids! The difference is amazing- I can hear my car indicators! I know my hearing had deteriorated considerably 😢
I did a bit of shopping then home to tidy up, bake a cake and make tabbouleh.
The washing dried in record time- it really was far too warm for me 🥵 so I stayed indoors where it was comfortable.

Good morning from Bristol. Looks like we’re in for some rain this afternoon.
The Later Life Fair I was helping out with yesterday was a bit subdued. Last year the weather was vile and it was heaving, this year it was hot and barely anyone came. Serving the tea was generally a pleasure, though one o4 two customers treated us like something under their shoe . How can people be so rude?
We had the help of three gorgeous young men from Sky. They had been sent over with no idea of what they were to do. They were Delighted as normally it involves paint, mud or heavy lifting.
I was wiped out from the heat and four hours of standing and serving, etc. my back was very painful. I spent the afternoon sitting with my feet up and was in bed very early. That didn’t stop me from having a bad night, full of very odd dreams, one even included Ash!
Busy again today. I have to drop a prescription request to the surgery as the computer outage has messed up my app.
DD’s church in town is taking part in the Bristol Harbour festival, including offering trips up the famous tower. I might go depending on how tired I still am.
This evening, I’m having dinner with my very much younger first cousin from NZ at DD’s. Lucy was extremely helpful and kind to DD when they were in NZ.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's cool, fresh and showery, lovely. My plants are rejoicing. Spent yesterday de-reconfiguring (work that out! 😁) my art room because it felt all wrong. My furniture must be giddy by now but it's finally a workable space.

Today I'll be asking my granddaughter to reach a couple of things my knee won't let me access. Her mum says she's dying to learn more crochet stitches so we'll be doing that too. No baking because standing in the kitchen is still uncomfortable at the moment but there's plenty else to do. I'm looking forward to her company; she has a very sweet nature.

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a brightening north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 - not sure it’ll stay that way but as long as I get my morning trot to the next town for my 🗞️ I shan’t mind as today is my quiet day 🤫

We had an enjoyable afternoon in Conwy yesterday ending up in the secret garden behind the wine shop sharing a rather nice Chardonnay in the sunshine before hopping on the bus home where I promptly fell asleep 😴

Tomorrow will be busy at a friend’s for afternoon tea so simply pottering around PG Towers will suit me - hope you all have a weekend that suits you too x.
