Good Morning Everyone,
Its a clear blue sky over brackley at the moment .
Today my usual routine after breakfast , get the bus to Bicester ,and do my routine there ,hopefully meet people I have got to know.
Return Olympic cycling on TV this afternoon , followed by a Chinese take away.
I did watch the opening ceremony last night which seemed endless as to timing.
Take Care,
Mick

Good afternoon now from a very sunny warm Cambridgeshire. I have only just caught up on all the Good mornings as was up early to shop for our family bbq tmrw. We are celebrating DD2 turning 40 next week Fingers crossed the weather is looking positive and the only no show at mo is GD1 who rarely turns up now she is 18 with better things to do I guess. Just about to tidy the garden up ready for tomorrow’s inspection by the family. I am banning footballs and hope GS2 will decide not to park his go cart on my plants. He is obsessed his parking spot is on top of my sedums and berginia’s. Happy days😂 He is monkey at the moment. My DD found our spare room wardrobe key under his pillow last night. He loves to take keys and hide them.

Take care everyone and have a good weekend💐

A very late good morning to all - I slept in! Sleep is not something I do very well these nights so it was lovely even though that may well be my sleep allowance for the next week
I join the 'not very impressed' contingent re the Games Opening Ceremony and I'm afraid I switched off.
It was Dancing GD's Graduation - much more interesting 😉 - and the photos kept coming. A perfect day for her and lots of family pride.
I can't take time now to comment on the posts I've missed or I'll be here until lunchtime, but lovely to hear holiday news. I must just say though, Karma it would be lovely to see a photo of your wonderful coat! What a clever lady you are. And Mizuna glad your baby knee is doing so well. And Grandmabatty I hope yours (and you) continues to recover.
Have a good day everybody x

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest coast.
Just had a quiet day yesterday after the upset stomach night and dried washing in the sun and made up a bed for my DSister coming from the south on Monday. Started watching Mr.Selfridge in the evening and I’m enjoying it. I remember not really fancying it when it came out. Now I fancy going back to the shop!

Today into the city for lunch and gallery/bookshop visiting with old pianist friend. I’m wearing a cotton skirt which will go well with a downpour 🙄 This weather is a pain…

Thoughts as always to those with troubles 🌺
.

Good Morning in dull/grey Lancs - but around 5.30am the sky was a blazing reddish orange.
Well, that's the first week of the school hols out of the way. Only 5 more to go........and the shops are stuffed with uniforms, stationery, kiddies novelty lunchboxes and windows plastered with "Back To Skool!" posters (why do shops insist on spelling it like that?)

Gala Sat 27-Jul-24 08:47:57

Good morning from a dull but dry (so far) Sefton. We have just got back from a very damp holiday in Pembrokeshire which we enjoyed despite the weather. Any 'tan' marks are rust! I was hoping to get through a few loads of washing today but the forecast is for rain most of the day - due any minute apparently. Summer here on the north west coast has literally been a washout. Will unpack, sort out & put away, a quick food shop then start my new book which I didn't get to read whilst we were away - having too much fun in the rain☔️.
Enjoy your weekend.

Morning from bright sun in S Hants, we kept watching the ceremony last night in case we missed something, sadly not, but I enjoyed some of the music and dance.
Usual Saturday, but with our grandson staying tonight, my daughter is out for a mystery meal.
Enjoy the allotment show Mizuna my type of event.

Good morning all from N Bucks and a clear blue sky.
Woke up late today, recovering from yesterdays 4.30 start had left me shattered for the rest of the day.
D1, GS and GD made it to Paris with only a 2 hour delay at Luton airport (“only”when did this become a virtue?) but are I hope now enjoying the delights of Disney- first time for GD and second for GS1 although he doesn’t remember the first as he was tiny)
To my huge relief, GS2 ‘s school party all seem to have made it to Copenhagen by various circuitous routs and GS and SIL are together again.
I hope the boys get a rest day today as the previous 48 hours will have been gruelling.
My plans are very unexciting, I need to fill up with petrol as I am having lunch with D3 and family in London tomorrow so I also need some chocs or something. I’ll leave off getting flowers until tomorrow morning.
But for now, it’s TIB and a gentle peruse of GN and the papers.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey rainy Carlisle.
Yesterday that did clear up and I managed to get out and mow the lawn and have a good deadheading session on my front border roses. I originally bought 6, all matched for theoretical height and spread....three are as described, two have greatly exceeded expectations and I am reading the last rites over one. I did the same to one in the back a while ago and it has put on a sudden green spurt of leaves. I have always found plants respond to a good telling off!
Today I am off to the garden centre in hopes of finding some alpines to fill gaps in my gravel garden. After that, it could well be a reading day and maybe watching some of the Olympics. I hope the athletes haven't suffered from being out in the rain last night.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, not a cloud in the sky. Yesterday was similar and when I got back from ballet classes spent the afternoon reading in the garden.

Have just put a load of washing in the machine.
Then a hop on the bus later to the shops; I have quite a few things on my top-up list, and shall also have coffee and a bite to eat while I'm out.
Then back to the Saturday papers and the garden again.

Steak for dinner tonight, yummy!

Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

Beechnut Sat 27-Jul-24 08:23:32

Good morning everyone from Severnside. A sunny blue sky with little cloud.

I watched five minutes of the Olympic ceremony and switched over to watch Goodwood Festival of Speed instead.

I’ve a lot of tidying to do outside today and in my garage. I’ve a tip run booked for next week and I want to put my garden chairs back where they belong.

Good wishes to you all 🌞👒

GrannySomerset Sat 27-Jul-24 08:05:55

I too was underwhelmed by the Olympics opening ceremony and baffled by an apparent focus on men in drag but realise I am increasingly out of touch, though DGD1 wasn’t impressed either. Delighted to have her here and must decide what to do today though I do have a few little jobs including turning out the airing cupboard and binning quite a lot of its contents - I can no longer reach the top shelf, which is why the job has been left too long. I rather like tasks like this which enable the sort of conversation which doesn’t happen face to face but rather side by side. Meanwhile I hope we all have a satisfactory Saturday.

Liberty Sat 27-Jul-24 08:05:40

Good morning from a lovely sunny Suffolk, so much better than the rain last night in Paris.

We too watched most of the opening ceremony and we pleased we were in the comfort of our own home and not on the banks of or a bridge over the Seine. The singers especially Celine Dion were the best bits for us.

We shall be taking the dog out shortly for a walk through the small wood nearby and then a restful day probably indoors or in the summerhouse. Neither of us does well in the heat.

Hoping today is a good one for all.

luluaugust Sat 27-Jul-24 07:53:18

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Quiet day today with a bit of batch cooking and getting some washing done. Glad knees are all responding well.
Best wishes

GrannyGravy13 Sat 27-Jul-24 07:52:10

Morning all, it’s 15° with some blue sky.

A quick shop locally first thing, then I will potter and start a new book.

Have a great day 🙋‍♀️

Gingster Sat 27-Jul-24 07:49:39

Good morning all and it’s another sunny one. Weve been so lucky with our two weeks here at the Suffolk seaside.

Had a lovely day with my two brothers, nephew and sister in law. They love coming here but didn’t stay over as they have commitments at the weekend. While here db2 had a call from the hospital to say his heart bypass op will be 6th august. NHS. Brilliant! He was thinking of going down the private route. The cost is eye watering!

Coffee in the garden and then we
walked to the pub for a nice lunch (not outstanding but acceptable) and then back for SIL’s apple pie and cream. A short walk along the beach and a cuppa in the summerhouse and off they went by teatime. Perfect.

Today we have a tip run as we’re off back to Essex tomorrow and have a fair bit of rubbish. Dh will go to footie this afternoon and I’ll clear the house and leave it clean and tidy for our return in a few weeks.

Ditto Bellasnanna ‘a tedious mishmash of weirdness’ .
Re Opening Olympic Ceremony! 😳. Very well put!

Take care all. Travellers, poorly, and just plain ‘fed up’. 🌸

monk08 Sat 27-Jul-24 07:47:29

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Another here who found the Olympics ceremony underwhelming got bored after an hour found a book to read, much prefer ceremonies in a stadium.
Had a lovely day yesterday with the boys we went to Tamworth, a great time in the castle elder Dgs has been doing the Saxons at school so enjoyed dressing in the costumes. We then had lunch and spent a couple of hours in castle grounds play area.
Today our friends are coming later and we shall go to the club.
Safe travels those on the move, best wishes for anyone celebrating.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans, usual full English calling so will catch up later with everybody's happenings ☀️.

Marydoll Sat 27-Jul-24 07:44:07

Good morning all from Edinburgh, where it is 12°C.
I'm lying in bed trying to come to, after little sleep. The foreign family next door chatted all night long! 😡

Our day didn't start well. Our train was cancelled due to a signalling fault, as was DD's. We had planned to meet for breakfast, but ended up grabbing food on the go.
The weather was lovely yesterday and all we seemed to do was walk, eat and drink!
DD and SIL offered to go and buy water for my medication last night, while we returned to the hotel. On passing the back door of Primark, DH asked if I would like a quick look.
It didn't quite work that day. The store layout is very confusing and we ended up going up and down lifts and escalators, without looking at anything.🤣
DD and SIL were already back at the hotel, thinking that something had happened to us!
Unfortunately I haven't yet visited TKMaxx.😭

Today we will wander where the wind takes us, perhaps give the trams a shot. Who knows?

Enjoy your day folks.

Bonnybanko Sat 27-Jul-24 07:39:33

Good morning Winniwit I’ve been waiting for your call to help you fill out the AA form so instead I’ve sent you a pm and hopefully it will support your claim - let me know how you get on, best of luck. Hugs to you and your dear husband 💕

Bonnybanko Sat 27-Jul-24 07:29:54

Good morning everyone. It’s to be hot hot and hot today it’s bright out there already.
I’ll be playing draughts with my twin sister today it’s a daily thing now.

I did enjoy the opening of the games last night especially the can can which brought back memories to me when I danced the can can at my local primary school when I was on the parents association it was great fun. I also enjoyed the ladies/gents swaying back and forth at a great hight. So brave.

The Parents association was the same as a school governor in England.

I’ll be watching the games today however there’s great controversy when a man who’s transformed into a woman wins in the woman’s games, after all they can be so much stronger- it doesn’t seem fair or so some seem to think

Have a good day everyone be kind to each other

kittylester Sat 27-Jul-24 07:29:17

Good morning all from North Leicestershire. It is bright and warm.

Today I have to change the bed, iron and walk to the village for some cards and i may make some bread.

Have the best day possible everyone.

harrigran Sat 27-Jul-24 07:28:19

Good morning from a grey NE, we have thunderstorms forecast for most of the day. I can't imagine why as we have had no hot weather at all. My garden furniture has not been out on the patio this year.
I enjoyed meeting up with my friend but our restaurant meal had a few niggles, quite a few items on the menu were not available and friend's dessert was supposed to be a summer berry mille feuille, it had one blackberry and one blueberry cut in half.
Today DS and GD2 are visiting, first time since returning from holiday.
GD1 will either be working or with her boyfriend as it is his birthday.
Have a good weekend.

Bellasnana Sat 27-Jul-24 07:19:33

Good morning from sunny Naples where I am all packed and ready to leave for the airport in an hour or so.

I have had a lovely week and enjoyed every minute but will be so happy to see the boys again as I’ve really missed them.

Yesterday we had such a good day traveling from Pozzuoli to Procida by ferry (40 mins) and enjoyed exploring the tiny island, a delicious lunch and relaxing before catching the ferry back in the late afternoon.

I’m rather pleased to know that others found the Olympics opening ceremony somewhat underwhelming as I’ve seen nothing but praise from the majority of people commenting! Personally I found it a tedious mish-mash of weirdness!😂

I will wish you all a pleasant day ahead.☀️

Redcar Sat 27-Jul-24 07:18:46

Good morning everyone from a sunny mid Essex. I watched a bit of the Olympic opening ceremony yesterday, then went to bingo in the village hall! Won £10 so worth going. Saw the end of the opening ceremony when I got home.
Will spend the day trying to sort out the house and garden as I’m at DD1’s next week looking after the dog. My car is playing up at the moment & will hopefully be fixed next week.
Pleased that mizuna is getting out and about with her new knee and that Gbatty’s knee is improving. Take things easy ladies.
I hope we all have as good a day as possible.
