Words hardly used now

I have just read that words like wazzocks and plonkers are rarely used now.

How about swinging and grotty made popular in the 1960s?

My mother used to say that her hair looked like the wreck of the Hesperus when she felt it needed a comb. I haven’t heard that one in years.

Living in Sin, lovely term, but like a fallen woman.

Nobody had a shotgun wedding anymore either

Grannybags Sun 28-Jul-24 20:27:19

Nobody “lives in sin” any more!

Still chuckling at the use of 'goosegogs', a word I've not heard or used in 60+ years. When a kid, the neighbours grew gooseberry bushes within arms reach of our back garden and we'd also go scrumping in the apple orchards over the road in the autumn.

Can't quite remember the proper name for the, you know ... ?

Trollop is one of my favourites Kate
It can be said kindly, or with venom.

Wicked, nineties street talk for good hasn't been heard since about 2000. Also expressions like div and nutjob seemed to die out after the eighties.

Calling someone Mardy ( when they were in a mood)

Something that crossed my mind the other day.
S.W.A.L.K written on the back of the envelope to someone you love.
Another one was B.U.R.M.A I'll let you figure that one out for yourself.
