From Wigan to Blackpool for our early July Wakes week holiday every year when I was a little girl. Surprisingly I can't remember having any bad weather.

Trying again with photos

I'm about as landlocked as you can get, here in Oxfordshire. But I can walk down to the shops, cinema, doctor's and dentist's so that is a plus. And the supermarkets are a short drive away. There are many lovely walks, which I go on with a group of friends on a Tuesday morning. It's a beautiful county.

We live in a flat overlooking the Thames, there's always something to look at. I thought I'd miss the space of our last home, a 5 floor Georgian townhouse, but the open vista over the river gives me all the space I need.

When I was a child, this was my local beach and I still love it..

I have aphantasia (cannot see pictures in my mind) I have a really good memory, I wonder if this compensates. There is a huge difference between memory and imagery.

I'm fascinated by this, and first heard about it here on gransnet, because another member said she had it.. she was an artist.

Since our son and family moved to Northern Ireland, we’ve holidayed with them on the north coast near Portrush every year. The coast is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and it’s breathtaking! We’ve been surprised by the amount of sunshine we’ve had, so the children have had plenty of time on the beach.

Hopefully if the weather stays like this (hot and sunny) we will take a stroll to h the end of the pier with GC this week.

This isn’t where we live but it is just across the road from our wonderful static caravan. We spend as much time here as we can.

You’re not too far away. Of course it’s our wonderful longest pier in the world: Southend. 1. 1/4 miles.

I can relate to that Silverlining48. Every year we took the coach from SE London to the Kent coast for a week, staying in a boarding house - half board - so, full English breakfast and dinner. It was heavenly for me. Sunshine, a sandy beach, the sea and spending time with my family. We did have to dodge the showers from time to time. Since then, we’ve enjoyed wonderful holidays in Suffolk, Norfolk, Devon, Cornwall, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. So very fortunate. I’m also feel very lucky to live in lovely part of Kent, but not too far from the attractions of London. 🇬🇧
