Picturing where GNs live.

We always went to Cornwall, too, so I can bring it to mind when it's posted about.

Well it is unusually cold here and has been for some weeks now. I actually don’t really mind because we get plenty of sunshine through the year. We get lots of big hungry colourful birds at this time of year, they are probably nesting or something. Some will come right up to the back door and peer in until I feed them. They ignore the cats and the cats ignore them ( the birds are too big for them, probably )

I can always bring Gingster to mind in her Suffolk bolthole, eating fish and chips at Dunwich and maybe walking on the heath. Lovely Southwold and Aldeburgh. I painted boats the beach at Dunwich and look at that painting daily. It brings back happy memories.

It reminds me of a Maeve Binchy book I read about all the people who caught a bus, and the reasons why, with snapshots into their lives.

I always enjoy the Scottish grans shenanigans and descriptions of where they live and visit.

MissAdventure - I love that Maeve Binchy book -"The Lilac Bus" - would love to tour Southern Ireland.

Greyduster, family were visiting this weekend and we enjoyed fish and chips in the sun in Southwold, looking out to sea. Bliss.

Returned from a trip to Cornwall from Kent, a couple of weeks ago, a really long old drive, but so beautiful.
The end of next week it’s Southwold to a house overlooking the sea. Hoping the weather holds.

In the 1950s in Dad's old smallish car .. a Standard 8 ...there were 5 of us. My rather round grandmother, my sister, my parents and me.
We set off in the mid afternoon and slept the first night on the Hogs Back. In the car. Not comfortable, but no one complained. Then set off at crack of dawn for Cornwall and our holiday.

We never had a car so went for 3 days by coach to a boarding house on the Kent coast. Our after breakfast and not allowed back in till the evening, however much it rained.
Those were the days…..

Out after breakfast….

petra. That has me foxed. I come from East kent so Ramsgate and Broadstairs are my well known harbours.

North Kent? Doesnt look like Whitstable.
Cant be Cornwall. I give up.

I can relate to that Silverlining48. Every year we took the coach from SE London to the Kent coast for a week, staying in a boarding house - half board - so, full English breakfast and dinner. It was heavenly for me. Sunshine, a sandy beach, the sea and spending time with my family. We did have to dodge the showers from time to time. Since then, we’ve enjoyed wonderful holidays in Suffolk, Norfolk, Devon, Cornwall, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. So very fortunate. I’m also feel very lucky to live in lovely part of Kent, but not too far from the attractions of London. 🇬🇧

You’re not too far away. Of course it’s our wonderful longest pier in the world: Southend. 1. 1/4 miles.

It was a lucky guess

This isn’t where we live but it is just across the road from our wonderful static caravan. We spend as much time here as we can.
