Heartwarming to see Southport residents out clearing up and re - iterating that the focus should be on the bereaved and injured not the rent-a- mob who added to the distress of the citizens of this town.

The attack was horrific and so is the behaviour of the rioters, who should be ashamed of themselves.
Attempting to incite racial tension is not helpful at all.
Those thugs aren’t scared, they’re just out to cause trouble - they have no respect for the dreadful loss of the bereaved families, but are using the event as an opportunity to try to spread and feed hatred. Shameful.

The grieving families have enough to cope with, and those with children still critically ill in hospital, they don't need this on their doorstep.

Absolutely shameful - and over 20 police officers injured, also dogs, who had bricks thrown at them.

How does this help the bereaved?

(BBC I player this morning, police say 50 injured).

This pure wickedness is heartbreaking. Those poor little girls and the pain those who loved them must be in. Doesn't bear thinking about.

How does such evil exit? Aren't we supposed to be hardwired to protect children.

They are most definitely not scared!! They are using this dreadful violent tragedy to pursue their own sick agenda.
Like everyone else my thoughts and prayers are with those who are now in torment and distress.

One can only assume the lad who committed these terrible killings is severely mentally ill. I also feel so sorry for his parents and extended family. Very sad all round.

RIP Alice, Bebe and Elsie.

I am devastated by this. Dear Alice, Bebe and Elsie. And of course your parents and siblings and grans. I believe that hate is an easy response and we should be careful not to fuel hate. Hate is what starts this and ends this. Please send love out to those affected.

No one knows yet what caused the accused of such mindless, evil, lunancy . Can’t help thinking that easy access to brutal video games and other horrors on the dark web could so easily affect an already unstable person. Mental health issues - who knows but for these trouble making gangs to turn on the police is unforgivable. They are not locals and have turned up to cause trouble simply because it is an opportunity.

Beautiful girls. I am lost for words at this senseless act. I don't recognise this country anymore, knife crime is so frequent nowadays.

pably15 Tue 30-Jul-24 23:50:15

Heartbreaking indeed, innocent little girls dancing ,enjoying the party and their family's lives ruined for what...what reason could anyone possibly have to commit such a violent act on children. and yes Ziplok, I agree an excuse for the rioters.
RIP little darlings

Heartbreaking. 💔 Three beautiful little girls.

My heart goes out to these dear little girls and their families at this incomprehensible attack and murder.
I pray the wounded will make full recoveries.
It's impossible to comprehend why anyone would possibly want to attack innocent children.

maddyone Tue 30-Jul-24 23:31:13

RIP sweet little girls.
And prayers for all those still in hospital, and all those in any way affected by this horrible incident.

My little granddaughter, ten years old, is a Taylor Swift fan. She adores everything about Taylor Swift, she is a Swiftie. These little girls would have been the same. It makes my heart hurt thinking of these similarities.

I don't know why there has been a rise in these individual attacks - but I wish we did in order to address them.

LovesBach Tue 30-Jul-24 21:52:07

The photos shown on the BBC web page tonight were heartbreaking; three little darlings, smiling and happy, with their whole lives in front of them, and the summer holidays just starting. This and the terrible crossbow killings of a few weeks ago - what is wrong with people?

Primrose53 Tue 30-Jul-24 21:49:42

I was out shopping today and an elderly gent told me the third little girl had died. Just terrible.

Just watching the riots. They also shouted at Starmer.

It’s being said that there should be info out by now about the individual to stop people surmising.

Callistemon213 Tue 30-Jul-24 21:46:41

Watching all those people in Southport at the vigil I said it was a reminder that there are more good people in this country than wicked.

Thoughts are with their families and those still in hospital, hoping they will recover.

The photos of those happy little girls and the thought of them being so excited to go to a dance workshop in their school holidays is just heartbreaking. 😥

RIP Alice, Bebe and Elsie

I hadn’t seen this news about the EDL using these horrific murders and attempted murders to try and inflame racial tensions. As if the families, friends and wider communities aren’t suffering enough.
Yet again, police under attack. It’s hard not to feel despair then anger. Let’s hope no more police are injured, order is restored and these thugs arrested and charged.
Tickingbird - we’ve had our moments -you’re correct, you’re a pretty decent sort.

Galaxy Tue 30-Jul-24 21:29:45

Yes I think GN is a good way of realising the decency in people who hold different views to you.
Yes you are right Anniebach, those poor girls and their families.

tickingbird Tue 30-Jul-24 21:29:36

Anniebach

RIP little darlings

It is Annie and my thoughts are with them and their families and all still in hospital.

Let’s pray they all pull through x

Yes I know but I’ve had contretemps with most people on here 😂🫤

Ps I am actually a pretty decent sort smile
