And whether it's Putin or USA or home grown, thats what people are still doing on social media as regards Southport inciting riots.

One positive thing here, is that posters now can be under no illusion that deliberate false information is spread deliberately
Channel 3 News Now was linked a number of times with posters insisting the murderer had arrived on a boat recently and his name was xxxx. Additionally X formerly twitter was posting misinfo
It seems Putin is involved in mis info because it spreads dissent and chaos

“Russia’s fake news about the Southport stabbings is part of Vladimir Putin’s “grey warfare” against the West, a former head of MI6 has said.

Russian state media were among those who falsely identified the suspect – who was charged overnight – as an asylum seeker who arrived in the United Kingdom in a small boat.

The claims helped to fuel disorder on the streets in Hartlepool and London as well as Southport, where dozens of police officers were injured in clashes with far-Right protesters.

Sir Richard Dearlove said the spread of fake news was a “fundamental tactic” used by Putin’s regime against the UK and other Western nations.

He told LBC’s Nick Ferrari: “What I can tell you is that we’re in a state of grey warfare with Russia – we may not feel that we are, but they certainly think they are.

“The exploitation of that space is a fundamental tactic in their conflict with the West. So if these bots have been used to stir up through social media a violent response, I’m not the slightest bit surprised.”

I have the same feelings as you GG. No sympathy for him at all.
My sympathy is reserved for the bereaved parents and the parents sitting by the bedsides of critically injured children.

I'm sure the judge has a better grip on things than anyone. I trust his words.
By continuing to prevent full reporting at this stage has the disadvantage of allowing others who are up to mischief to continue to spread misinformation in a vacuum. Allowing full reporting will undoubtedly remove some of the misreporting as to the identity of the defendant.

I agree with you Joseann.
The judge has made a considered response and we should all trust in that judgment.

To be fair I don't think Oreo was saying anything bad about autistic people there

I am one and work with children/get very passionate about child protection

But we should be careful how we talk about autism after knowing this information, so many people have little understanding or tolerance for autism as it is

Oreo there are 1,000’s of autistic children in the U.K., my GS is one.

They do not go around stabbing defenceless little girls.

Knowing his identity stops other people being wrongly identified.
I would trust the judgement of the Judge in releasing the name.

It is a tragedy also for his family and friends.
Surely without any shadow of a doubt this person has a severe mental illness , perhaps undiagnosed/untreated schizophrenia ?
How otherwise at close range could someone stick a knife in a defenceless six year old child ?

I agree.He has a diagnosis of Autism but may have had no help in spite of that and could have added mental health problems.

Looks like a tempest photo

In the doorbell footage of him in a green hoodie he is head and shoulders above the cars, and almost as tall as the front door. His physique isn't that of a child, he is the same height as the police who surrounded the property.
