Good Morning Everyone,
A grey but dry start here in brackley this morning.
Today I am on a coach to Weston -Super -Mare , but hoping its cooler on that coast , aim once there is to get a all day breakfast before I do what I plan to do , from past experience the coach is always full .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It is cloudy here this morning but the sun is trying to get through.

We had a good day yesterday with DGD (9) who had refused to go to holiday club this week with her little sister and was ‘bored’. They are having their kitchen completely redesigned so all equipment is squashed into the small front room. DD and DSil were both working from home so we went to DD1, only a mile away, as she had a day off. A few games (UNO, Dobble), lunch and a visit to their local Emmaus charity emporium with drinks and cake in the cafe, all kept DGD entertained.

I need lessons from Whitewavemark on successful vegetable growing! We have had few successes this year though we may eventually get a few tomatoes and runner beans (on the 3rd sowing). I am noting your choice of bulbs - the Thalia narcissus looks beautiful - thank you Urmstongran.

Glad your fall did not result in any injuries Stilllearning.

Mizuna, my DH was part of a team supporting Streetpastors some years back. It’s great when local churches come together to do something so worthwhile and non-judgemental in the community.

I hope Mick is having a good day in Weston with a cooling breeze. I will be pottering in house and garden and reading my current, very enjoyable book.

Aldom

Bonnybanko The Olympic boxer, Imane Khelif was assigned female at birth.

Explanation is to why the boxer actually has XY chromosomes.
His male genitalia were formed inside his body. Sorry, don’t know how to make the link work other than copy and paste.

A simple cheek swab can protect female boxers

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Another quiet day today and tomorrow off on a day trip to Shropshire.
I go to my DD in the south on Wednesday and she has booked tickets for the ballet next week so I am looking forward to that
.
A good day for more drying outside, sheets from my latest visitors and roses I put in ages ago have decided to bloom.
The rioting around the country is worrying.

Have a nice jaunt Mick and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning everyone from Severnside. A mix of cloud and blue sky.

I had a nice time yesterday. I bought a lovely Heuchera and some garden tools. Got the aquatic compost I wanted. Beechnutella took me to the gliding club for lunch and then we went secondhand furniture looking.

I’m going to have a pottering weekend.
Good wishes to all 👒🌞

Good morning from Durham. Decidedly cooler and very windy here.
Spent time yesterday thinking of my DM, as it was 32 years since she died, having spent her final 4 house then bed bound and praying to die - I’ve outlived her by 5 years already.
A quiet day today, as DGS2 was full on yesterday - he’s a handful for DD2 on her own, but so funny and charming with it.
I need a bit of shopping, then just play it by ear.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from a sunny, pleasantly warm Costa del Angus. Enjoy your trip to Weston Mick, and that all day breakfast.
I'm back to my usual very little sleep so am feeling decidedly off-kilter. I've a busy week ahead preparing for a visit from my little great-grandson and his entourage next weekend. At 8 months he's very mobile, crawling at great speed and pulling himself up onto his feet and walking round the furniture, so a lot of re-arranging is in order!
Glad your enjoying your 'honeymoon' Ash. Those flowers look lovely.
Good to know things are a bit better as regards the heat down south. I couldn't have borne that - I was too hot, to the point of feeling unwell, with the 20-21° we had here!
No real news from here, just the same old same old, so I'll just wish you all a lovely weekend before I moved off to potter x

Bonnybanko Sat 03-Aug-24 08:20:46

We discussed the unfairness of a trans man punching the hell out of a woman at the Olympics until she was in fear of her life. what’s going on in this world when we allow this to happen, it just amounts to abuse - this trans he/she will win a gold if this is allowed to carry on , cmon stop all this nonsense it’s just not fair 🤬🤬🤬

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and sunny. Stilllearning I hope you are ok after falling. I'm suffering a bit from sciatica which I think was brought on by my fall. Brook it's lovely and sunny here in central Scotland.
Yesterday I finally made lime curd and it tastes delicious. I didn't make much, just a tiny pot for me and a slightly bigger one for Dsil, but more will be made next week. Dd and the boys called in and had lunch with me which was nice. Dgs1 was extremely excited at the peas and ate some from the pod. Later dd sent details of the holiday she has booked for us all in Gran Canaria, a place none of us have visited. It does look good.
Last night I had a really bad night and got up at three and made a cuppa. It worked as I'm late this morning and slept til eight. I will indulge in gentle pottering today. Omelette for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife.

It’s to be sunny all day today and I’m going on a picnic to the local Glen with my 2 carers and their 2 young daughters I bought the picnic food yesterday from M&S, their cherries are really delicious I just had to eat a few. I also made a dental appointment.

When I was in sunny St Andrews yesterday with my 2 carers and their 2 daughters we all sat outside the Resteraunt and we had a delicious sharing pizza I had a coke the others also had a soft drink.
We had fun people watching the girls enjoy petting a lovely friendly dog.

Have a good day my friends (you know who you are)

Morning all from a grey S E Essex

Have to pop down the road to the butchers and independent grocers. Then I need to sew swimming badges on swim towels (DD is not into sewing)

Have a great day everyone 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and grey Northampton; supposed to brighten up after lunch, so I may be able to sit out in the garden and read.

A busier day for me yesterday with younger DGD here from mid-morning, although she spent most of the day on the sofa with her broken toe up! We did manage to make lemon butterfly cakes in the afternoon, and then had to keep them in the fridge as the butter cream kept melting!

Spent the rest of the day watching the Olympics, and then after dinner I showed her some old photographs, and told her some family history.

Just enjoying a mug of tea while waiting for her to surface, and then may make sausage or bacon butties for breakfast.

A quiet day ahead reading the papers and watching the Olympics.

Have a pleasant Saturday everyone.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, quite bright just now and a reasonable day forecast, will I get to wear a summer dress?

Granddog Sadie went home yesterday. DD2 collected her and took her to Edinburgh airport to meet the returning travellers and swap her for DGD5 who had accompanied our Connel family to Minorca. They had all had a wonderful time spent largely in the pool or the sea because of the soaring temperatures and being young and healthy they had loved it.
I was rather sad to say goodbye to my temporary pet but recognise that the long walks we had enjoyed together would not have been the same in the rain! I’ll go and visit her soon.

Lunch today with my two pals, one of whom had fallen and broken her hip on our outing two months ago. She is recovering really well but I tried my best to join her by falling my length in the garden last night! Fortunately only my pride was hurt.

That reminds me Mizuna, that was another lovely action photo of your DGS, you could practically feel his joy!

I hope you enjoy your trip to the seaside Mick and that everyone has a pleasant day.

Good morning all and it’s o er ast but still jolly warm. 🥵.

We had a lovely gathering with our Friday folk for lunch in a very nice pub/restaurant. We had a private room which was beautifully decorated . The food was ‘ok’. Birthday boy enjoyed it. One of our couples ‘celebrate’ their golden wedding today. We were all there on the day, so varied recollections were flying.
They’ve never been ‘loves young dream’ , chalk and cheese - but have stuck it out 🤨🥹.

Today I’ll see Dd and bring her and little DGD back here for the afternoon.dh will go to a footie match.

DS1 and DIL popped in last evening with all their family news.
DS2 might pop in today as he’s coming this way to meet up with old pals. One of them celebrating his 50th (birthday not anniversary.). They’ll all revert to their boyhood mischief , I’m sure. 🤣.

Enjoy your outings, holidays and hobbies. 🌸

RosesandLilac Sat 03-Aug-24 07:50:15

Good morning from a cooler hillside in south Glos, it looks like we’ve had a light shower here.
I’m so relieved that the weather is cooler, at least I can actually breathe more easily!
I’ve had a lovely quiet week despite the heat.
Yesterday I enjoyed an hour deadheading the roses etc and tying in the long whippy new growth on my climbing roses.
It was very pleasant out in the garden so I sat and read for several hours.
I haven’t done any cooking all week, a very welcome change, while DH has been at DD’s. He came back last evening so no more peace and quiet!
Nothing planned for the weekend, I will definitely be outside in the garden doing more pootling 😊
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. My celebrations at a local restaurant went well, unfortunately DS couldn’t come as he has a summer cold but 9 of us did our best to eat through the menu! I am not sure what will happen today, I think a short walk might be a good thing plus a little Olympic watching, anything not to do with food.
Enjoy your day out Mick
Best wishes to all

Marydoll Sat 03-Aug-24 07:43:49

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 17°C.

Enjoy your trip, Mick. Our first holiday after we were married was a Golden Rail trip to Western Super Mare. It took all day to get there and the tide always seemed to be out!

Today, will be a quiet one, apart from hopefully picking up some hard to source medications.
I am struggling to function at the moment 😡 and will enjoy doing very little today.

I wish you all the best of days and am keeping all, who are struggling in my prayers.

mae13 Sat 03-Aug-24 07:41:28

Good Morning from Central Lancs - cooling down and fresher, thank goodness.

Jaxjacky Sat 03-Aug-24 07:37:23

Morning from a grey S Hants, 19 with no rain forecast.
A very pleasant lunch out yesterday with a friend, grocery delivery followed, then our evening pub visit. We had a good catch up on village ‘doings’ last night, there’s a big 60th birthday party there today which we’ve been invited to.
Enjoy your trip Mick I’m fond of Weston.

Good morning from a dry but windy NE, we had some light overnight rain.
DS and family will probably call in today when they collect GD2 from her friend's house.
DD and SIL are on the first Eurostar out of Brussels this morning and will be spending the weekend in London, they have tickets for the proms.
I received a text message from my GP with a date for my annual check up except I wasn't called last year, it is more than two years since I was seen.
Enjoy the time with DH Ashcombe.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Urmstongran Sat 03-Aug-24 07:27:51

I love your descriptions about the flowers in your garden Whitewave! I often highlight what you tell us, and paste it into Google, to see a photo so I can better appreciate your post.

Here’s the ‘ triandris narcissus. Thalia’ for example. 😁
Yes, an elegant daffodil indeed.

brook2704 Sat 03-Aug-24 07:24:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness, where is the bright and sunny start to the day
Enjoy your day trip mick it’s always good to have a day out
Just a bit of shopping to do this morning then we’ll both spend the day together in the garden. There’s hedge trimming for DH to get stuck into and a few things that need cutting back too.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Sat 03-Aug-24 07:19:37

Good morning everyone from a grey and cooler mid essex. I hope you enjoy your day out michael, a cooling sea breeze sounds lovely.
I hope you and your DH enjoy your day out ashcombe, I didn’t know that you could recycle the blister packs in Superdrug, I’ll start collecting mine!
DD2 is on dog walking duties today & tomorrow, before the dog walkers take over again on Monday. DD1 and family return late on Monday.
My car was returned to my drive last night, DD2 will take me back to collect it today, I hope its’ little problem has been fixed.
Have a good day everyone, thoughts as ever to those with sadness or anxiety in their lives.

Urmstongran Sat 03-Aug-24 07:18:03

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s overcast but warm. No rain forecast today. Alexa tells me it’s currently 14°C reaching 19°C later.

Our two girls, their husbands, the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss are all camping in Buxton. Second night, home tomorrow afternoon.

We are taking my stepfather to M&S Food Hall this morning so he can stock up for while we are away. I’ve got a mani/pedi booked for this afternoon. I always enjoy ‘holiday prep’ time!
