Good Morning Everyone,
A grey but dry start here in brackley this morning.
Today I am on a coach to Weston -Super -Mare , but hoping its cooler on that coast , aim once there is to get a all day breakfast before I do what I plan to do , from past experience the coach is always full .
Take Care,
Mick

What a lovely day out. Enjoy!

aggie Sat 03-Aug-24 05:55:44

Good morning Michael , it’s a still cool bright start to the day here in Co Armagh
I went to bed early but couldn’t sleep , it will be a long day !
Enjoy your trip michael , I am going away tomorrow for a few days with my daughter and her three girls

Good morning from a grey Bristol. I don’t think any rain is forecast; the amount we have had recently is laughable!
Enjoy your day out at Weston, Mick, there is usually a nice little breeze off the sea.🌊
I had a quiet day yesterday, having changed my bed, and started on my new patchwork, the first for me in several years…
DD told me yesterday the she had caught COVID from her DH, so both of them are isolating, I believe.
DGD should be back from her tour of Germany, Rhineland I believe, with the Bristol Youth Choir. The girls are off to the other DGPs in Dorset for a week from today, I think. Suspect that the gps will collect them…
Today, church coffee then nothing much. Sewing probably, some Olympics but I have never been that interested. Reading.
Have a good weekend, especially since the temperatures are now more tolerable. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

grandMattie Sat 03-Aug-24 06:02:36

Oh, and Ash enjoy your DH’s visit!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 03-Aug-24 06:12:38

Morning all from a muggy West Oxfordshire. I’d love a bit of sea breeze!

A quiet day today, apart from household chores. I may do some baking for the forthcoming WI Afternoon Tea.

Have a good day.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. We are off to Newmarket races today. Going to be a hectic day with family & friends.

Enjoy your coach trip Mick and your all day breakfast.

Ashcombe Sat 03-Aug-24 06:31:39

Good morning from an overcast but warm Torbay.

I hope you enjoy your day out, Mick and find the cool sea breezes that you seek. We certainly had some here yesterday but it is quite still today.

DH arrived safely on Thursday evening (thanks for thinking of us, grandMattie) and we enjoyed our first full day together yesterday which included a walk over the Downs (and a sit on a bench ………. to enjoy the view! ). The flower beds are stunning with much of the work being done by volunteers known as the Babbacombe Bay Bloomers!

This morning we are going for breakfast at our favourite hostelry before heading into town, mainly to drop off loads of empty tablet foil packs at Superdrug for recycling.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend, whatever it brings. 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning from a cooler South Downs. Forecast a nice day, so now the temperature is reasonable I shall be gardening today, although I always think august is one of the quieter months - except harvesting . I am beginning to plan my bulb purchase. Daffs go in first. I have a group of white Helebores under the shrub roses and plan to continue the white theme with triandris narcissus. Thalia - they are such an elegant daff I think. Not sure whether to introduce any colour with say primroses or keep it all white.

Cauliflower, broccoli and tomato macaroni cheese for supper. This time of year meals are driven by the excess vegetables. Yesterday it was lemon sole with lemon sauce, green beans, baby courgette, tomato and new potatoes. The lemons were not home grown though😊.

Photos are beginning to come in from Paris and DSs spectatorship and wanderings. The obligatory one of the Olympic flame/balloon.

A cup of tea beckons.

Enjoy you day all.

Peace and harmony

Good morning from an extremely hot Malta.

Hope you enjoy your coach trip Mick. Nice to have a change of scene.

This morning I’m going with DD3 to take the boys out, it will be somewhere with a/c as it’s too hot outside. Even going to the beach is no relief as the sea is so warm.

I will sit with them later whilst DD3 goes to an appointment after which I need a bit of shopping, milk etc so will do that on the way home.

Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing.☀️

Greyduster Sat 03-Aug-24 06:40:23

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very cloudy South Yorkshire. We haven’t had the overnight rain I’d hope for. Enjoy your trip, Mick. A day by the sea is always nice!
DS and DiL are coming down today. I will make a lasagne with salad for lunch which I expect we will eat in the garden. Maybe a walk before they go home.
Have the best day you can, folks.

karmalady Sat 03-Aug-24 06:59:25

Good morning from s somerset, dry and cooler here

Back to normal temperatures today and a walk plus sewing are planned. My vest cycling top is nearly finished, just the wind flap, pockets and all the poppers to do. So bright, it is going to be perfect for safety

I want to do a mini sort in the kitchen this morning and make some more muesli. As always I will vary my activities to suit my mood

Have a good day

GrannySomerset Sat 03-Aug-24 07:04:22

Grey sky at present but the forecast is for sunny intervals and comfortable temperatures which will b a relief and may prompt me to some domestic effort after a very leisurely week. I may even cook after a week of salads and there is always the Olympics. In the meantime there is nothing to get up for so I won’t, at least for a while. The news is expressing and the Toxteth riots come to mind - it’s all very worrying. Modern communications are not the good thing we may have thought them.

GrannySomerset Sat 03-Aug-24 07:05:11

‘Expressing” = depressing. How did that happen?

Good morning from an overcast, humid Cornwall. A great discovery yesterday, that the combined churches in our town (12 altogether) are restarting the Street Pastors initiative. I used to be part of this but it fell foul of the Covid lockdown. My neighbour who runs a bar is delighted as it means that there will be trained people on the streets on a Saturday night helping those, usually women, who have over-indulged. It's an initiative supported by the police and council. It's exciting because it impacts the town so positively and I can't wait to get involved again once my knee heals.

On the way home yesterday I came across a pavement plant stall and found a Greek Oregano plant for my patio, something I've wanted for ages. A red-letter day!

My sons and three pals are trekking Dartmoor this weekend and usually send back some interesting photos; last year one of a very dead sheep, oof. Meanwhile I shall be entertaining my granddaughter.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s overcast but warm. No rain forecast today. Alexa tells me it’s currently 14°C reaching 19°C later.

Our two girls, their husbands, the Boy Wonder and L’il Miss are all camping in Buxton. Second night, home tomorrow afternoon.

We are taking my stepfather to M&S Food Hall this morning so he can stock up for while we are away. I’ve got a mani/pedi booked for this afternoon. I always enjoy ‘holiday prep’ time!

Good morning everyone from a grey and cooler mid essex. I hope you enjoy your day out michael, a cooling sea breeze sounds lovely.
I hope you and your DH enjoy your day out ashcombe, I didn’t know that you could recycle the blister packs in Superdrug, I’ll start collecting mine!
DD2 is on dog walking duties today & tomorrow, before the dog walkers take over again on Monday. DD1 and family return late on Monday.
My car was returned to my drive last night, DD2 will take me back to collect it today, I hope its’ little problem has been fixed.
Have a good day everyone, thoughts as ever to those with sadness or anxiety in their lives.

brook2704 Sat 03-Aug-24 07:24:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness, where is the bright and sunny start to the day
Enjoy your day trip mick it’s always good to have a day out
Just a bit of shopping to do this morning then we’ll both spend the day together in the garden. There’s hedge trimming for DH to get stuck into and a few things that need cutting back too.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Urmstongran Sat 03-Aug-24 07:27:51

I love your descriptions about the flowers in your garden Whitewave! I often highlight what you tell us, and paste it into Google, to see a photo so I can better appreciate your post.

Here’s the ‘ triandris narcissus. Thalia’ for example. 😁
Yes, an elegant daffodil indeed.

harrigran Sat 03-Aug-24 07:31:12

Good morning from a dry but windy NE, we had some light overnight rain.
DS and family will probably call in today when they collect GD2 from her friend's house.
DD and SIL are on the first Eurostar out of Brussels this morning and will be spending the weekend in London, they have tickets for the proms.
I received a text message from my GP with a date for my annual check up except I wasn't called last year, it is more than two years since I was seen.
Enjoy the time with DH Ashcombe.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 03-Aug-24 07:37:23

Morning from a grey S Hants, 19 with no rain forecast.
A very pleasant lunch out yesterday with a friend, grocery delivery followed, then our evening pub visit. We had a good catch up on village ‘doings’ last night, there’s a big 60th birthday party there today which we’ve been invited to.
Enjoy your trip Mick I’m fond of Weston.

Good Morning from Central Lancs - cooling down and fresher, thank goodness.

Marydoll Sat 03-Aug-24 07:43:49

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 17°C.

Enjoy your trip, Mick. Our first holiday after we were married was a Golden Rail trip to Western Super Mare. It took all day to get there and the tide always seemed to be out!

Today, will be a quiet one, apart from hopefully picking up some hard to source medications.
I am struggling to function at the moment 😡 and will enjoy doing very little today.

I wish you all the best of days and am keeping all, who are struggling in my prayers.

luluaugust Sat 03-Aug-24 07:44:14

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. My celebrations at a local restaurant went well, unfortunately DS couldn’t come as he has a summer cold but 9 of us did our best to eat through the menu! I am not sure what will happen today, I think a short walk might be a good thing plus a little Olympic watching, anything not to do with food.
Enjoy your day out Mick
Best wishes to all

RosesandLilac Sat 03-Aug-24 07:50:15

Good morning from a cooler hillside in south Glos, it looks like we’ve had a light shower here.
I’m so relieved that the weather is cooler, at least I can actually breathe more easily!
I’ve had a lovely quiet week despite the heat.
Yesterday I enjoyed an hour deadheading the roses etc and tying in the long whippy new growth on my climbing roses.
It was very pleasant out in the garden so I sat and read for several hours.
I haven’t done any cooking all week, a very welcome change, while DH has been at DD’s. He came back last evening so no more peace and quiet!
Nothing planned for the weekend, I will definitely be outside in the garden doing more pootling 😊
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹
