Grannmarie Sat 21-Sept-24 16:06:59

Aww, Doodle, hugs aplenty for you from Copenhagen. It's very early days, of course you feel at odds with the world you knew. I'm hoping and praying for the day when you will find comfort in memories of happier times. 💕🙏

Grandmabatty Sat 21-Sept-24 15:20:03

Doodle you should be very patient and kind to yourself. It takes such a long time to come to terms with grief. Acknowledge each stage and take your time. You aren't a moaner.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 21-Sept-24 15:12:31

You are definitely NOT a moaner Doodle please don’t think that. You are trying to come to terms with what you never wanted. Another big squishy hug from me too. x

Charleygirl5 Sat 21-Sept-24 15:02:56

Doodle my heart goes out to you. It must be so difficult not being able to settle down, do and enjoy anything. As the saying goes, time heals but the problem is that time is a a long one in most cases. We are here for you.

soop Sat 21-Sept-24 14:49:01

Dear Doodle, Jax's message is from the heart. Be kind to yourself. We care for you. More huge, squishy hugs are winging their way to you together with all those of our Kitcheners who need and deserve extra tender loving care.

I am still decluttering. It is my way of dealing with stress. I find solace in the act of starting a job that seems almost overwhelming...and finishing it with a sense of satisfaction. The charity shops have many almost new garments of mine that my hernia prevents me from wearing. So, some good may come of the buggeration. I also have an appointment with a surgeon in a fortnight's time. She is to give her opinion on the viability of further surgery. I am convinced that it will be a No-No. The parastomal hernia is far too large. However, we may meet up with Baggs and, as is our practice, we'll make a day out of it. Fish and chips and mushy peas etc.

The ironing board awaits. I have a fair pile of laundry to press and hang in the de-cluttered wardrobes and drawers. wink

A glorious, sunny day. All my good wishes to you lovely lot for a peaceful weekend. smile moon

Jaxjacky Sat 21-Sept-24 13:15:11

You’re not moaning Doodle just voicing your chasm of emptiness and sadness as you grieve, this is a gentle place to do it.
I can’t fix it for you, or offer a quick solution, but I can say you’re doing your very best and send a huge, squishing hug x

Doodle Sat 21-Sept-24 12:01:12

NannyG4 the paperwork is awful. Took me weeks to plod through it all and I’m still struggling with some of it. I hate these gloomy days. Never bothered me before just settled down snugly with DH and all was well. Now I’m finding it difficult to do anything. Can’t read, don’t like Tv. Walking is ok but can’t walk all the time. I’ve started a jigsaw but mainly I think I’ve just become a moaner, sorry.
Hope all have a good day

Surely Milo is not expected to lie on a hard floor even with a carpet? It is his also.

soop you have had so much practice maybe you could have a go at my two wall to wall wardrobes please?

It will be my birthday on Sunday and I received beautiful flowers today. Being such a good gardener I have no idea what they are, only recognising roses, pansies and daffodils!

cornergran I nearly fell off my chair when I noticed my car insurance was a lot cheaper this year.

I looked at one company for house insurance but it was so expensive I thought they wanted a deposit as maybe they thought it did not belong to me-nearly £800 and no I am not insuring Buckingham Palace.

Look after yourselves.

Good Evening lovely ladies.
I'm enjoying reading all about your trips/holidays... Embrace them and enjoy.....
Today is the first day I've spent completely on my own... It's been a long day but I've kept myself busy. I've a mountain of paper work to wade through!!
I hope those who are finding life hard and struggling with ill health/hospital appointments are coping, its hard.
Tomorrow I'm helping in our church with flowers......... And then friends have invited me for supper, so a nice day ahead... I'm taking one day at a time......
Love and prayers to you ALL.....
Smell the roses 🙏🌹🌹

Grannmarie Fri 20-Sept-24 21:09:39

This is Nyhavn, I think the other photo was further down the canal. We loved watching the artist at work.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Sept-24 20:41:15

Sounds a fabulous holiday destination Grannmarie!
(The double ‘n’ in your user name almost tripped me up).

Blossoming it really is wonderful to hear from you again. You are going through such a tough time yet your positivity shines through.

I’ve been thinking a lot of Kalu recently.

Grannmarie Fri 20-Sept-24 20:15:02

The photos from the boat trip show Nyhavn, the Danish Royal Yacht ( zoom in and you'll see the helicopter) and the Opera House.

Grannmarie Fri 20-Sept-24 20:12:32

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! We've had a great day sightseeing, thank you all for your kind good wishes. GG13, I can understand why your DGC would be happy to stay in Copenhagen, like Neine says, the people are about the happiest in the Western world. I wish they could bottle it and sell it! 🇩🇰 😄

We enjoyed the boat tour today, what a beautiful city. Then we had a delicious fish lunch at the very picturesque Nyhavn, we looked out on the pretty colourful houses and boats gliding by. We're exhausted tonight!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB. 🥰

Brilliant FGT that’s the way 👍
Have a great time Grannmarie I went once years ago, I’d been working for a week in the US and flew straight there in a very tatty SAS plane for three days more work.
Another sunny day, a little cooler, the promised storm/rain skirted us, disappointingly. I went to M&S to return shoes and collected festive baubles with initials on for the family, picked up some foodie bits, including a salted caramel cheesecake x 2, one left on the side for you all to share.
MrJ, putting said baubles away upstairs, found 3 boxes of crackers, 1 box of tree decs and a packet of cards for the season, oops 🫣
My back feels pretty good, I must be diligent with the exercises, however inelegant they are!
I hope NannyG4, Doodle, * Yia* * Baggs* and those suffering I’ve forgotten, have had a reasonable day.
Shouts to SueD and Blossoming.

Have been to our local RHS gardens today with The Imp (Hyde Hall) he had a fabulous time rolling down hills and running free. He even had the play equipment to himself at the end.

We are not going out tonight, having a Chinese takeaway instead.

You are living your best life FGT2 enjoy every second 😘

Nightie Night folks 🙋‍♀️

fgt2 go for it! I hope you and your DH have a wonderful time in Malaga. Enjoy the curry!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 20-Sept-24 16:18:57

Home this last hour. All laundry done (quick freshen up washes of swim stuff, thin summer dresses etc) which are now drying on the balcony in the sun here!

It chucked it down in Es Caña this morning. Torrential rain when we got up at 6:30am and only stopped when nearly at the airport at 9am. But then the sun came out. Nice timing for the holidaymakers there! They’d be able to be round their hotel pools after breakfast.

So … this is only a pit stop. Off we go again on Tuesday lunchtime - back to Málaga for 17 days in our happy place, all being well. We might as well, while Himself is well he says, he still has his annual health insurance policy for a few more weeks and also, before his next CT scan, mid October.

He’s off in the sunshine soon to watch the Boy Wonder at his Friday night ⚽️ training then we are going over the road for a curry. 😊

Redcar Fri 20-Sept-24 15:29:32

Happy Anniversary mr & Mrs hulahoop, I hope you’re having an enjoyable day!
nannyt what a rude consultant, why should we expect to be in pain throughout our retirement! We’re all keeping him in employment so he should be grateful. neine my consultant told me after he’d replaced my other hip, that it was a lot worse than the X-ray showed.
granmarie have a great weekend in Copenhagen.
I’m enjoying this lovely September sunshine, but as ever the garden could do with a drink. It looks as though it will pass us by again. Some of my quite established shrubs are looking very sorry for themselves. I’ve cut down the hollyhocks now, apart from one or two that still have a few flowers at the top, the bees are still visiting them.
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 20-Sept-24 13:24:13
