Hello kitchen people.

Phew, I’m whacked. Elder son, his partner and our granddaughter are on their way back to Kew after their stay - they may well be back on Thursday! OH is currently driving our daughter to the station.

It was lovely to see them all and our 8-year old granddaughter is a delight.

Tomorrow our younger son is coming to stay for a few days. It’s his birthday on Tuesday so I’ve booked lunch at one of our favourite riverside restaurants.

Have a good evening. I’m especially thinking of those of you who are suffering.

Suedonim what bad luck! I think the funfair visits many fife coastal towns at this time. St Andrews is usually busy with golfers and tourists too. NannyG4 💐. We are here to listen and hug, if need be. Catterygirl I hope you managed to sleep and your pain is manageable today.
I've been to Aldi, watered all the pots and done some weeding, ironed, polished and hoovered. It's a beautiful day in central Scotland, the best of the weekend. Later I'll visit mum. Steak fajitas for dinner.

NannyG4 I echo the wise comment from Doodle . You will be in all our thoughts. We may not know each other in person but our love for you at this saddest of times is real. flowers

Had bad pain in arthritic knee today. Hope it will be better tomorrow and that the weather forecast comes true for once. LOL.

Soop, you are so photogenic! That’s a wonderful picture.

I’m taking all of you at your word and enjoying our time with DS being here. We’ve all been super busy so this is just a quick update on the latest. Today we all went to St Andrew’s as the weather was fair. StA’s turned out to be hellish, with an enormous funfair in the middle of the main street, much blaring noise, generators running, screams from the rides and far, far too many dogs.

We found a small garden cafe, where the children were able to play a basic mini golf, and we recovered with coffee and pastries and then we retreated home. There was a gem from GD, though. There was heavy traffic and I had to choose which way to drive. I ended up in a traffic jam anyway and GD remarked, ‘That’s a valuable lesson on your decision making, Nanna.’ 😂😂😂

More family times tomorrow. The kittens aren’t missing out, Brook as ds loves cats, too!

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

Thank you for the local weather info Grandmabatty, I'm glad it stayed nice for them, they've had thunder and lightning 🌩 at previous Parties at the Palace.

My sisters visited this afternoon, DSis1 brought her lovely baby granddaughter, 18 months, who can now say all our names, so cute.💕

Glad to hear that Finley has recovered, Jaxjacky, I wish I could bounce back like that!

Beautiful garden, brook, and I bet your tea always tastes better in your special mug.

Dear Soop, your last post reminded me to do some ironing, long overdue!

Thank you, Nannytopsy, he's chosen to study Computer Sciences, specialising in Cyber Security. A sign of the times!
Your holiday venue sounds idyllic, enjoy!😎

Dear NannyG4, sending love and prayers for strength for you and yours, to carry you through your DH'S funeral and the days to come. 💕🙏

I think an early night is on the cards cos Grandpup might have us up early.
Wishing everyone a good night's sleep. NNGB.

Babs03 Sat 10-Aug-24 20:47:58

@NannyG4

You will get through this, sending you strength and hugs x

GrannyGravy13 Sat 10-Aug-24 20:27:37

NannyG4 just wanted to send you a (((hug)))

You will get through your dear husband’s funeral, doubtless it will be hard, think of the love, the memories, the life you shared 💙

Redcar Sat 10-Aug-24 20:19:46

Just lost my post! nannyG4 we’ll all be thinking of you on Thursday. It will be difficult but you will get through it and you will have support from your family and friends.
grannmarie St. Osyth is very pretty, there used to be a convalescent home there, I think in the Priory. Lots of the beaches are lovely and sandy in that part of the essex coast. Generally it’s a very dry part of the county,
annsixty good that you have some excellent restaurants nearby.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, whatever you’re doing! Watching the Olympics?

cornergran Sat 10-Aug-24 20:06:29

Much love nannyg4.

Doodle Sat 10-Aug-24 20:03:31

NannyG4 you will get through it. It may well be better than you think. Go with the memories and others will share theirs too. We are all here thinking of you x

Jaxjacky Sat 10-Aug-24 19:41:41

Used to live that way for 8 months of the year Nannytopsy it does get a tad warm!
NannyG4 we will be with you ❤️

brook2704 Sat 10-Aug-24 19:18:19

NannyG4 we’re all here for you, sending ❤️

Nannytopsy Sat 10-Aug-24 19:09:44

* Grannmarie* congratulations to your DGS. What subject does he want to read?
Thorntrees you must be delighted that your girl is coming home.
Urms will be happily settled in her happy place now.
We are in south west France. It’s lovely but just a touch warm this weekend. There are swallows and house martins drinking from the pool and hoopoes in the garden.

A beautiful photo Soop, you radiate the kind and beautiful person you are..
I hope ALL of you can enjoy the best time you can have under your circumstances..
Life is tough sometimes but I've found of late that the majority of people are so kind and caring and the kindness of strangers has brought me to tears.....
I'm in a bit of a state, my DH's funeral is on Thursday, how will I get through it, I know I will with the support of my family and friends. Sorry to bring the mood of this lovely thread down but it just helps me offload.
My love to all you lovely lot. Much love to you ALL....

Jaxjacky Sat 10-Aug-24 18:31:11

That looks so relaxing brook.
Well, MrJ has watched football and I’ve ploughed through the paper, picked another courgette and four cucumbers.
Finley, poorly yesterday and this morning, is now out playing football apparently!! They do bounce back so quickly.
MrJ has watered and it’s a glorious evening after a cloudy day, enjoy yours all 🥂.

soop Sat 10-Aug-24 17:49:52

Babs03 Your post made me chuckle. grin

Farewell for today, dear Granspals. I've done a few jobs. Mr Soop has sorted out an irritating problem with the computer. The sun continues to shine. Enjoy your evening in whatever way best suits you. We shall continue to watch the Olympians doing wonderful stuff. We shall also enjoy a Saturday night glass of cheer.

Bless you all. smile moon

Grandmabatty Sat 10-Aug-24 15:29:57

Lovely seat Brook. And mug too.

Babs03 Sat 10-Aug-24 14:48:54

@brook
Lovely pic. Would love to join you for a cuppa.

Babs03 Sat 10-Aug-24 14:46:40

A man called Andy has arrived to do some plumbing in our downstairs bathroom, seeing as the pipe under the sink keeps leaking. Am sure it will cost us dear but sadly we don’t have any plumbers or handy men in our family and my husband likes to think he can do these jobs but he really can’t.

soop Sat 10-Aug-24 14:26:50

annsixty Good for you, dear lady. You deserve to enjoy your outings. I'm with you all the way. smile

soop Sat 10-Aug-24 14:23:10

brook That is such a delightful garden bench/chair. I would enjoy sitting and chatting beside you.

soop Sat 10-Aug-24 14:18:43

Also welcome to Llamas99

Neine If sharing your thoughts with us lot helps you in some small way, PLEASE do not hesitate to do so. Our kitchen is for caring and sharing. Life is not always a happy-clappy event. flowers

You have all been most appreciative of my birthday pic. Thank you for your kindness. There are times when I feel extremely aged. The spirit is most willing, the flesh is far less so.

The sun is shining between showers. I have some ironing to attend to, during which I hope to watch the diving.

My love to every one of you lovely lot.

soop Sat 10-Aug-24 14:09:11
